2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hello lovely masking mavens! Welcome to the second half of the challenge. Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Spoiler
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

X is for eXfoliating and eXtra soft feet 😉

About a month ago I tried a foot peeling mask for the very first time: Boscia Baby Soft Foot Peel.

  E5F5617D-625D-4D1D-AA23-F372706F37FD.jpeg

This one is pricey — currently CAD$26. I’ve since found much cheaper ones (CAD$7.50) so I’m looking forward to trying those out.

In the instructions, it said to leave it on for 60 to 90 minutes. I read reviews from people saying it didn’t work for them, so I left it on for 2.5 hours (one hour extra). More is always better, riiight? 😂

The booties were awkward to put on and not comfortable or safe to walk in. No big surprise there. I leaked some of the mask fluid in a few different places because I was laying down at one point. I don’t recommend doing this. Find a comfy place to sit upright for the duration and try to stay put. Also, I recommend covering up the booties with a thick, snug-fitting pair of socks to hold them in place and to keep your feet warm, which will allow the fluid to penetrate your skin more effectively.

Five days passed and virtually nothing happened. I took baths every evening as some reviewers had suggested, to help loosen the skin, but still nothing happened. I also moisturized my feet to help the old skin detach. Nada. No action.

Then, on day 9, kaboom! My skin practically launched itself off my feet lol 😆 Everything just started peeling away, so I exfoliated my feet gently with some foot cream and a  SEPHORA COLLECTION - Precision Pore Cleansing Pad (my go-to for pretty much all my manual exfoliation needs).

Ten more days later, my feet started feeling so soft and smooth, and looking great. It’s now a month later and my feet still look and feel great.

Although pricey, I’m satisfied with the results of this foot mask and would recommend it. But I definitely recommend soaking your feet first, then each day after the treatment, combined with moisturizing.

BOSCIA - Baby Soft Foot Peel

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@PinkEvergreen That's great! I love foot peels! My one issue is that my feel always return to their hobbit nature before I want them too.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Lawd the price @PinkEvergreen ! Sounds effective though.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@PinkEvergreen   To get the best skin peel it’s good to presoak your feet so the harder skin is softened.  then wear the foot mask under some socks so you get full contact the whole time.  For the rest of the week soak your feet in water for five minutes each night and pat dry and make sure NOT to apply any lotion.  The wetting and rewetting helps the skin dry out faster and come off in large sheets!  so wonderfully gross!  The babyfoot brand explains that it is friction and repeated manual exfoliating that makes the skin on your feet thicker and calloused so you don’t want to be scrubbing them (hence the chemical exfoliantSmiley Happy

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@heartsmyface  Ahhh, I see! Next time I’ll try the wetting and rewetting technique 😊

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

My exfoliating foot mask was the same way @PinkEvergreen .  Nothing, nothing, nothing, then bam.  Feet shedding everywhere.  I think the longer wear time is key.  Glad you found some cheaper ones.  I had a few from shopper's life brand and they worked if you're looking for more less expensive ones.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@missjeanie  Good to know that Shoppers has cheaper options 👍 I’ll definitely try them out once my feet return to their usual rough selves lol... How long do the results usually last for you?

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I've only tried them the once before.  I'd say a few months. I'm thinking I'll end up doing them 4 ish times a year @PinkEvergreen

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I need to try these @PinkEvergreen!😊

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@faeriegirl  They’re definitely perfect for summer when most people are in sandals or slip-ons ☺️ The peeling phase can be a tad awkward, but exfoliating with the Sephora pad and cream hurried it along for me 👍

this is such cute packaging @PinkEvergreen

this is such cute packaging @PinkEvergreen

Re: this is such cute packaging @PinkEvergreen

@lmaster  Yes, the outside is great. The booties... not so much. They’re crinkly, baggy, and feel sweaty. But, hey, they did the job lol 😊

Re: this is such cute packaging @PinkEvergreen

Yeah that's definitely no fun! @PinkEvergreen have you tried putting a fuzzy pair of socks over top? I do that when I know I'll be walking around

Re: this is such cute packaging @PinkEvergreen

@lmaster  Yup, I definitely did that. (I edited the post to add that earlier today 😊) Had I not worn socks, they would have definitely fell off! 😬

Re: this is such cute packaging @PinkEvergreen

@PinkEvergreen that would of really been a mess!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@PinkEvergreen I've heard that this one works well - glad it did for you! I haven't tried it yet, only because of the price point. It's great when you can find something that's just as effective, but quite a bit cheaper! 😃

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85  I’m going to try out the cheaper foot masks and will report back 👍 I agree, the price is quite up there. I made sure my execution was top notch because I wasn’t going to screw it up at that price 😂

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@PinkEvergreen anyone who willingly uses exfoliating foot masks is a masking hero in my book, they terrify me Smiley Very Happy The results sound amazing, and so does the price lol.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe  Not gonna lie - I was scared lol 😂 I forced my husband to do it with me at the same time, though, so we’d both be suffering if something went wrong lol 😄 But it went well and I’d definitely do it again — just not at that price point, if I can avoid it.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

You got your husband to do it with you, @PinkEvergreen?!?! That gives me a great idea, I should pick up one for mine for Father’s Day😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe  Haha, I’m not sure if men consider it much of a gift 😂  If you do it, make sure you can sit him in front of a big game or the Xbox for two hours. Walking around in those sloshing booties is a no-go 😏
