ARCHIVE - 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hello lovely masking mavens! Please continue posting on the Q4 Thread which can be found here:

Spoiler

Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Spoiler
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Working on catching up on some posts. Saturday's D was for donkey milk. The sheet mask was gifted to me by the lovely @heartsmyface and the donkey plush was loaned to me by my niece in exchange for some blueberries, banana and granola – seemed like a fair enough trade. 😉

Spoiler

Saturday’s masking was all about Elizavecca Milky Piggy Silky Creamy Donkey Steam Cream Mask Pack, a slightly thicker cotton sheet mask that serves as the backdrop for a thicker, somewhat goopy, unscented, milky, (and very) creamy serum, the consistency and weight of which feels like a cross between a lotion and a heavy cream. The mask adhered pretty well even with the material being thicker and the serum being as creamy as it was. Fit was typical of most sheet mask, but nothing that a few adjustments with the scissors to the chin/jawline and the corners of the eyes and mouth didn't fix. While the directions call for 15-20 minutes of wear time, I had this mask on for my typical 30 and felt like I could have easily kept it on for another 20-30 minutes. My skin felt nourished after using this mask – soft, silky, smooth and very moisturized. Thank you, hearts! <333

In the summer months, my skin is dehydrated-combo (oily T and dry everywhere else) and it did fine with this mask (probably because the temps haven’t resembled summer weather), but I can see that it might be too much for those with very oily skin or prone to acne. If your skin leans towards the dry to very dry side, this mask is going to do wonders for adding moisture to your skin. It’s one I’ll definitely want to try again in the wintertime when the winter cold wreaks havoc on my then dehydrated-dry skin.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

The serum in this mask sounds fit for a queen, @itsfi! Not surprised at all that @heartsmyface sent this one to you😊 I have a hydrogel from that brand I need to try, this reminds me.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

"The serum in this mask sounds fit for a queen".  @eshoe, a queen with dry or dehydrated skin, or one dealing with the blistering cold of winter. 🙂 I found the milky creamy serum to be great but can see that it might be too much for some. It would make a good winter mask for pretty much all skin types though.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Cute picture @itsfi !

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Thank you @emaisgr8! 🙂 It was a good masking session.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Adorable picture @itsfi. Have you tried many donkey milk masks and if so, which is your favorite?

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Thank you! I have other donkey milk masks in my stash @ShortErica; well, I have at least one other one that I know of. lol! I'm pretty sure I have a couple more that I'm not recalling. hahaha! 🙂 This is the first one I've tried; it's set a high bar.

this does sound like a great winter mask @itsfi super cut...

this does sound like a great winter mask @itsfi super cute 😍

Re: this does sound like a great winter mask @itsfi super cut...

This would be a great moisturizing winter mask for you @lmaster! It gets so cold where you live. 🥶

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

The donkey loan was certainly worth the trade, @itsfi! I love donkey milk as an ingredient, but I can see where this sounds like it'd be better for winter use for some of us.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Lol @quspork! Agreed. My niece and I both got what we wanted out of that deal! 😆 I love the masks with the creamy serum - so moisturizing, but they’re not for everyone year round. Definitely winter though.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi  What a cute donkey! How kind of your niece to loan it to you! 🙂 Your photos always make me smile. And I had never heard of this mask before, but it looks like a great one!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Awww, thank you @PrettyPaint! 🤗 Just tryin’ to have more fun with my masking. This mask is definitely a good one to have in the winter.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi I've been wanting to try this one out but have only found 10 packs of them. Unscented, creamy serum sounds like my kinda mask! Love the results you got - I'm so happy you enjoyed this one! 😃

How nice of your our niece to let you borrow her donkey! - it's pretty adorable! Definitely sounds like a great trade to me! 👌

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85, I hope they start making these masks available in singles. Keeping my fingers crossed. Hahaha! My niece can drive a hard bargain sometimes but I got to use the donkey plush and she got her snacks, so it was a win-win. 😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

sounds like a winner @itsfi I really like milk-y masks I'll deff add this to my list!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I think you'd like this one @Kim888! Would love to know your thoughts if you end up picking it up.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi  I enjoy the milk type of masks but those work better for me in the winter months. At least this helped with you dry areas even in the summer.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@GalPalVal17, milky creamy essences are great for the winter. I find they also work well if I've exfoliated beforehand, whether with a chemical or physical exfoliant - it seems to absorb better.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Spoiler
Okay fell off the masking wagon there for a bit but starting the week strong. Tried out the Elemis Supergfood Veggie mask. I agree with some of the other reviews that were posted - it's fine but nothing special. I didn't really think it did anything particular noteworthy. Also for Multimasking I used the Leads Juicy Pina Colada Mask from @eshoe . This mask is a gel texture one - the fit was pretty good I wish the chin was a bit longer. It has a very nice and light pineapple scent. I kind of got distracted and left it on for like 40 minutes but my skin felt and hydrated and looked brightened after. A for sure.

I'm loving the Pina colada mask @Kim888 happy to hear it...
