Hello lovely masking mavens! Please continue posting on the Q4 Thread which can be found here:

Spoiler

Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Spoiler
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Sounds like a good mask @ShortErica . This thread makes me want to run buying a bunch of sheet masks. I haven’t used a sheet mask in a while now. Currently I’m trying to finish up a plethora of opened tubes and Jars sitting in my mask bin and have promised myself not to buy anymore until I almost finish my inventory.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

That's a great and wise goal @fatimamummy. Which masks are you using? I've gravitated more toward sheet masks but really need to try the wash offs I have.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@ShortErica Whew, I was a little nervous telling you which one is my favorite - cause what if you ended up hating it after I just pronounced my love for it? 😂 I'm glad you liked it. I definitely agree the citrus one brightens more, but I'm glad the scent was better on this one was better for you!

P.S: the only way I have found you can include the # symbol is by copying and pasting it here from somewhere else. I usually write and save my reviews in my notes app first then copy and paste to BIC - that's when I started noticing the # symbol stuck. 😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Pro tip with the number sign @Shosh85! Love it! Occasionally I want to use it and get annoyed.

I worry about professing love for anything too in case someone hates it. I know we all have different preferences but if someone has exactly the opposite feelings I question myself. Two down, two to go. 🙂

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Blind Pick Your Mask, Round 2

The Methodology

Spoiler
For Day 2 of blind picks, I had set aside some masks that were soothing and/or hydrating - masks that could be used any day as well for the particular purpose. The options turned out to be a hodgepodge of oldies but goodies as well as newbies that consisted of tried and true ingredients like aloe, hyaluronic acid, cactus and bamboo. Into a bag they went, I mixed them around a bit and pulled out this morning's winning mask ...

The Mask

IMG_7349.JPG

Spoiler
My blind pick, after gym mask this morning turned out to be the Yadah Soothing Jelly Pack, a subtle floral scented, jelly essence soaked, medium gauzey cotton sheet mask that gives a shot of coolness to the skin upon application. I wouldn’t have minded if the cooling sensation lasted longer; it felt nice against my skin and would have been both relaxing and a nice way to wake up my skin (and me). Notable ingredients in the essence are prickly pear (5,000 ppm; increases cell turnover, helps restore skin elasticity, brightness and hydration), panthenol (skin hydration, healing and revitalization); gardenia extract (ahhh, where the floral scent must come from, but also has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties); aloe extract (anti-inflammatory; hydrating); bamboo extract (strengthens skin barrier and helps restore skin elasticity); and green tea extract (antioxidant; anti-aging). There is also added fragrance (last ingredient listed).

Fit needed work in all the usual places – chin/jawline, and  corners of eyes, nose and mouth. The width could have used some trimming as well but I tend to let that be.  I noticed that the mask was beginning to dry up in certain areas so it seems like an half hour seemed like the right amount of wear time. There’s quite a bit of jelly essence that can be wiped off the inside wall of the packet so applying that before or after applying the mask might extend the wear time; or can be used for other parts of the body. After pressing in some of the remaining essence to help with absorption, there was just the slight amount of tackiness to the mask and my skin looked fresh and lightly hydrated and felt soft and bouncy.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Oh the Jelly goodness @itsfi !

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

These jelly masks are so good @missjeanie!

@itsfi oh this sounds wonderful, I have a facial oil from...

@itsfi oh this sounds wonderful, I have a facial oil from yttp that has prickly pear 😍

Re: @itsfi oh this sounds wonderful, I have a facial oil from...

Re: @itsfi oh this sounds wonderful, I have a facial oil from...

Yes that's it 😍 @itsfi

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Great blind pick, @itsfi! I don't see too many masks containing prickly pear. I noticed it is also an antiviral and anti-inflammatory, which makes me wonder if it would help with redness, too (if someone needed some care for that).

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe, I’d imagine that would be the case. The mask has a number of anti-inflammatory ingredients.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Sounds perfect, @itsfi !

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

It was great, @l8totheparty! All 3 of the Yada jelly masks play nice with my skin. 😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi I'm glad this one turned out so good for you - seems like it'd be a perfect mask to do after the gym! That's great it gave you soft, hydrated and bouncy skin! I like to add more serum to the mask afterward as well - especially when I get one spot that's drying out faster than the rest of my face. 😃

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

There does seem to be one spot that dries faster than the rest of the face, right @Shosh85?! Hahaha! 🙂 Have you tried these jelly masks? I like all three in the line, though I have a slight preference for the other two over this one.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi I have tried all three, but kinda spaced apart so I'm not totally positive, but I think I liked the Brightening one best. I wouldn't mind trying all 3 again, but closer together this time so I can compare them even better 😃

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I'll have to remember to put the jelly from the pack on the mask when I try it @itsfi - great tip!

RE: Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

It’s a way to extend the wear time of the mask and get as much of the jelly essence / serum to your skin, @ShortErica. I know some just like to put the mask on and not have to reapply anything so another approach would be to swipe off the extra serum from the interior of the packet, apply the extra serum onto the skin first and then put the mask on over it.

Re: RE: Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

You're always so knowledgeable. Thanks @itsfi! I'm excited to try mine out. I think "I" is favorites week so I'll be doing some Yadah for sure. 🙂

Re: RE: Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Thanks @ShortErica, but it all comes from trial and error; when I first started using sheet masks, there were definitely quite a lot of errors.  😉
