2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hello lovely masking mavens! Welcome to the second half of the challenge. Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Spoiler
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@heartsmyface This sounds looks great on you and sounds like it has some decent results! Too bad the scent wasn't better😕

I hope you're able to catch up on some beauty sleep! 😴

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

You're rocking the tin man look @heartsmyface. Too bad about the scent though.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

You had a looooong day @heartsmyface! No wonder you're exhausted! Ohhh,a  soapy floral scent does not sound appealing. Of course it would linger for the entire wear time!! Why is it that the good scents fade away almost instantly but less than pleasant ones linger .... and linger ... lol. Hope you are able to get some rest tonight.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi  lol, me too.  I really need to put my phone down.  I did get some sleep already but should be trying to rest (it’s 3:30am here) hahaha, I know you guys are up now though!  😂🤐😁

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@heartsmyface  Oh, I've never tried a foil mask before. Are they comfortable to wear?

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@PrettyPaint @Some are and some aren’t.  This one was.  The single piece ones can be a little harder to wear cause the metal doesn’t typically stretch so the fit is normally off.

I am still on the fence as to whether foil masks are all a gimmick or if they actually have benefits.  Either way they look cool.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

You definitely do look pretty cool in the picture! @heartsmyface. Thanks for the info about foil masks - makes sense about the limited stretchiness.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Some more Yadah masking 😉

Spoiler

Yadah Cactus Toner🌵

This is a clear toner that doesn't have a scent that I can tell. It apparently contains 87% Cactus Water Extract instead of water, which sounded good to me since all the cactus masks I've tried I've liked. It does a great job both cleansing and moisturizing at the same time.

Ingredients:

Spoiler
Opuntia Ficus-Indica Stem Extract (87.56%), Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Panthenol, Allantoin, Betaine Salicylate, Arginine, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Leaf Extract, Disodium EDTA, Dipropylene Glycol, Hydroxyacetophenone, Caprylyl Glycol

Yadah Cactus Soothing Mask Pack

This is a thin cotton sheet mask that was soaking with serum and didn't have much of a scent - I'm not positive what cactus smells like, but I feel like I smelled a hint of something possibly cactus-y. The fit was large and a little off - it was a little too wide at the temples, about an inch too long at the chin, the eye holes were too big and everything just seemed to be a smidge off and not lining up quite right. Due to how thin the mask was it was easy to make it fit by folding and sort of scrunching it into place. The mask adhered pretty well despite the fit, but the extra length at the chin popped up a few times. It had a soothing and refreshing feel the entire half hour I had it on. The serum leftover was maybe just the slightest bit tacky, but it all absorbed super quick. My face looked brighter and felt refreshed and my skin felt very soft and smooth. The hydration from this wasn't the best, but also not bad at all either - just kinda in between.

This was a decent mask, but it wasn't anything impressive to me - I think it makes a perfect filler mask though, and would be great to use right out of the fridge. I also really like that the cactus extract is 3rd in the list of ingredients. I would definitely use it again, just probably not go out of my way to repurchase.

Yadah Brightening Jelly Pack

This is a thin mesh-type cotton mask that was saturated with a slimy jelly serum and had a citrusy scent. It wasn't the best citrus scent I've ever smelled, but it also wasn't anywhere near the worst either - and was hardly noticeable while the mask was on. The fit was great, just a bit too long at the chin. The adherence was great and it was very comfortable to wear. I took it off after about 30 minutes. The serum leftover was a little tacky, but absorbed on its own pretty quickly. My face looked a little brighter and clearer, my skin felt soft and smooth and the hydration lasted for quite a while.

This is another Yadah I really enjoyed and one I'd repurchase. Excited to try the two I have from this line!

so no to the cactus toner @Shosh85 it sounds really cool...

so no to the cactus toner @Shosh85 it sounds really cool tho, happy to hear your thoughts! glad you enjoyed the jelly 💙

Re: so no to the cactus toner @Shosh85 it sounds really cool...

@lmaster I actually really like the toner! I don't do a lot of toners, but I like that this one doesn't have a scent, cleans well and slightly hydrates.

The Yadah Jelly mask is wonderful! Excited to try the others! 😃

Re: so no to the cactus toner @Shosh85 it sounds really cool...

Oh it was the mask that wasn't impressive @Shosh85 sorry! On the app it's hard to follow when there are spoilers, it adds all kinds of words between spoilers

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Oh if I saw the toner at TJ Masks I would pick it up @itsfi! I use their foaming bubbling cleanser and it is so very gentle on my skin @Shosh85. Thanks for including it in your pic, now I can be on the lookout for it Smiley Wink

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe They also had the same toner but on pads - I was so close to getting that one a couple times! So far all the Yadah products I've tried I've liked, so I always have my eyes out for them! 😃

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I'm going to have to look for them next time, @Shosh85. I usually scan the skincare section pretty fast, will make a mental note to move more sloth-like next time!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I’ve seen that toner at TJ Maxx / Marshalls @Shosh85! Cactus 🌵 is a good one for hydration. Will be interesting to see which Yadah mask(s) are your favorites ... because you know someone may ask that question. Hahaha! 😂🤣😂

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi  I'll be interested to hear how everyone else ranks these too! I'm gonna try and get through as many Yadah masks as I can, but also throw some non-Yadah in the mix 😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Ooo I haven't seen either of the Yadah cactus products @Shosh85. That toner looks cool. You wouldn't happen to have your Yadah Pore Care one to compare sizes with the cactus mask would you?

Every time I see those dang Yadah jelly I get more and more eager to hunt them down. Hahaha. Yadah week is a bad influence because they've all had good reviews. I'll be going to every Marshall's and TJ Maxx in the city in hopes of finding every version of Yadah. Seriously I won't but could you imagine..I should wear a mask while driving to give me good karma.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@ShortErica I didn't save the mask, but I'm pretty sure they're the same size.

Yadah is turning out to be a good solid brand! Sometimes I think about how fun it'd be if I had the time and money, to visit a bunch of Marshall's/TJ Maxx and see what kind of goodies I could collect! Good thing I don't actually have the time or the money 😂

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Yep, @Shosh85 278305-gwen-stefani-if-i-was-a-rich-girl.jpg

I would be making it rain unicorn mail full of masks! Smiley Happy

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I went to every 1 Marshalls and 2 Winners in the last week.  I had neither the time nor the money but I spent both some how. @Shosh85 @ShortErica
