Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi What a nice variety you have going on there!! I found a bunch of the OH Power Bright and my TJ Maxx as well, and have really enjoyed using them! They definitely do leave you soft and bright! 🙌

The hair oil sounds interesting – though, oil has never worked for my hair. I have thin and straight hair like you, but not a lot of it and oils always make my hair feel heavy and greasy. Sorry you're in the, "it's not you, it's me camp" with this one. P.S: I love that you call it that. 😆❤️😆

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85, I like the idea of hair oils but haven’t had too much luck with with them either; usually too heavy for my hair. We’ll see if I can make this one work...or if it’ll stay in the “it’s not you, it’s me” camp. 😂😂😂 That was the best I could come up with for things that just didn’t work for me but seemed at least conceptually like they’d be good products. LOL! 😆

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Oh @itsfi, don’t you just hate it when you feel all proud of yourself for tossing the box, like you are beating the clutter-and then realize it contains some very valuable information? I’ve learned that a time or two with masks🙄. Everything sounds interesting, the hair oil until you mentioned it weighing down your hair, which I don’t need. I do like cooking with annatto seed, though!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

That is exactly how I felt @eshoe! I tossed it around the time I got the nail mask too, so it’s long gone. 😔 Hopefully I’m using it correctly. 😆

I’m going to have to look up annatto seed. Do you use it for certain dishes? Or is it your go to oil for cooking in general? I’ve never heard of it until this hair oil. I’ll have to try to figure out a way to use it without it weighing down my hair. 🤔🤔

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

A tbsp of annatto seed thrown into some hot olive oil will make a great starter for some garlic basmati rice @itsfi! I can’t remember what I first used it for, but it gives a good earthy aromatic flavor with a bit of smoky twist to a meal (and suddenly I want to start another food thread😄)

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Ohhh, that sounds really good @eshoe! I’ll have to try it.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I used to sub to Cook’s Illustrated @itsfi, I’m guessing that’s where I discovered it. I like to watch him, Christopher something - when it shows up on the TV😊

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Last nights masking was all legit G masking lol!

The Origins Ginzing peel off mask was interesting and I have such conflicting feelings.  The mask smelled so much like alcohol I thought I might be catching a buzz.  Orange flavoured Vodka to be specific.  My eyes were watering it was so strong.  The urge to cry stopped about 30 seconds after I finished applying the mask thank heavens.  Peeling it off was sooooooo satisfying! My skin looked like smooth, my pores looked good, and my face felt soft.  Were the results life altering? No. Will I keep using this mask to use up the tube? Yes. Will I re-purchase? No, there are too many other masks out there to try that I wouldn't go back to this one.

Finished off the night with the Genefique, (meh), and then used a sample of Good Genes, (I've used a few Good Genes bottles in the past, and this is good, my skin just prefers DE TLC).

I've been so nervous to try the GG @missjeanie but I will...

I've been so nervous to try the GG @missjeanie but I will do it 😂 going to work through some other products first

Re: I've been so nervous to try the GG @missjeanie but I will...

@lmaster I found the GG easy to use and incorporate, but my skin just prefers the TLC from DE or my prescription retinoid.  I find now that the GG doesn't feel strong enough for me.  But again, I use acids regularly.  Let me know how you end up liking it when you give it a try!

Re: I've been so nervous to try the GG @missjeanie but I will...

@missjeanie I do use acids as well, so hopefully it'll be fine 😁

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@missjeanie Triple the points, for triple G's!👍

Ive definitely tried a couple peel off masks that made me cry before the actual peeling off! You're a trooper for stickin' to it! I am seeing a little trend here though – first with the Jagermeister, now orange vodka. Haha! 🍸🍹 Also, I too, was *that* kid who loved peeling glue off her hands! It was so satisfying – there was just nothing else like it! 😂😂

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85  lol I noticed the boozy trend as well... and I barely ever drink! Maybe the masks are trying to tell me something??

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Ahhhhh, alcohol fumes in the eyes sounds horrible!        I was under the impression the the Lancôme Genefique was a boosting serum cause that’s what it feels like. I’ve been just using it in between my toner and aha products.  I don’t notice anything special about it.  It’s just me going through the motions.  @missjeanie

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@heartsmyface Thats exactly how I've been using the Genefique.  Granted, I've only been using this little guy for just under a week.  I fully realize that no skin care is going suddenly make me look like I'm 25 again in 5 days, but I guess I just thought I'd see or feel something, but nada. Their claims say that within 7 days I should have smoother more radiant skin.  Those are pretty bold claims to start off with, but I really just feel meh about this.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@missjeanie, the results from the Origins peel off mask sound nice, but the process to get there doesn't sound very fun at all - I'm also not a fan of peel off masks so I do have a slight bias in place. Loved your description of how potent the alcohol smell is though! Smiley Wink

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi  see... I really enjoyed the peel part of the mask!  I was also a kid that let glue dry on their hand to peel it off though.... lol

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi @heartsmyface  Exactly!! lol I don't really know why but I find it so satisfying!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I would happily watch video of the peeling process😝 @itsfi

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Sooooo glad I did not pick that Origins up, @missjeanie! Watering eyes...yikes! I’ve been catching up and reading about some harrowing masking sessions in the past few days!
