Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: oh my! @missjeanie so sorry you had a burning sensation!...

Yaaaaaaaay @missjeanie I sure hope they don't cause you any pain 😘

Re: oh my! @missjeanie so sorry you had a burning sensation!...

@lmaster fingers crossed!!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Oh no @missjeanie! 😱 The last thing you need or want after a long day is to have a reaction to something you’re using to help you unwind and relax! So sorry.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Thanks for sharing @missjeanie and I will know to stay away if I see those eye masks. I think my skin is somewhat but not super sensitive but it's not worth the risk. Hopefully you find out what caused the reaction.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@missjeanie Oh man, the reaction you had does not sound pleasant! I feel like my under eyes are just a little more sensitive and get dried out faster than the rest of my face – I think that has a lot to do with how thin the skin is there. I wonder what caused the burning? Have you tried comparing the ingredients from the Wander Gold patches and these, to see what ingredients they might share? I wonder if that would help you pinpoint the culprit better. So sorry about this un-delightful experience!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

That's a good idea to compare them @Shosh85. Thankfully the burning went away after a few minutes and my skin was back to normal a few minutes after they came off.  I was thinking about how thin the skin under my eyes is as well and that's likely a contributing factor as well.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Oh my @missjeanie that does not sound like a pleasant masking experience! I am so sorry about the reaction you had; you may be on so something with the gold. Hope your skin recovers quickly!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe my skin was back to normal I'd say about three minutes after I took the gels off.  No lasting effect, but it was so weird, I've never had a mask do that before!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I don’t think I’ve ever had a reaction quite like that @missjeanie but I am so glad your skin is back to normal😊

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

can't wait to try this!!!!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Went with a maple theme for Wednesday’s masking session, with the May Coop Raw Sheet mask and barefoot Venus Maple Blondie Lip Balm that I was gifted by the wonderful @veronika23! Thank you! This balm is great – it goes on so smoothly. It feels light and silky on the lips but it keep them soft and moisturized, and smells good! To keep up with the maple theme, I treated myself to a maple candy veronika23 sent me as well – I mean, it would be rude to not keep up with a theme if all I had to do was eat a piece of maple candy, right? hahaha! Smiley Wink

Spoiler
May Coop Raw Sheet is a cotton sheet mask that is thicker than what I would consider standard or common for sheet masks. It adhered pretty well, not the best, but not bad. There are also lines woven into the material, which is interesting. I like May Coop Raw Sauce and so when I saw that the brand had a sheet mask, I picked up a few; this is probably the third time I've reached for this mask.

Sugar maple sap is the key ingredient, known for its hydrating properties. The mask also contains glycerin (humectant), sodium hyaluronate (hydrating, though its very low on the ingredients list), and licorice root (brightening). It has a light, fresh scent, and the essence is thinner and more watery in consistency, and there’s a lot of it! I leave the mask on for 30 minutes (suggested time is 10-20) and after removing the mask, pat in the essence that has not been absorbed during that time. It feels cooling on the skin and that cooling feeling remains for some time after removing the mask. My skin feels refreshed and hydrated immediately after and continues to feel and look that way the next morning - it’s an "A / A-" mask for me. I have a couple more of the Raw Sheet and also picked up the new sheet mask (or new to me), which is aimed more at brightening and will be giving that one a try soon.

oh I love this @itsfi Maple sounds amazing!! the candy is...

oh I love this @itsfi Maple sounds amazing!! the candy is so cute too @veronika23 I want to try this lip balm now!! 😂😂 searching..in progress

Re: oh I love this @itsfi Maple sounds amazing!! the candy is...

@lmaster my skin and lips loved these too!! 🍁🍁 Much needed hydration! 💗

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi Love the maple/Canadian theme! 🍁🇨🇦 The treats from @veronika23 sound yummy! Pancakes always come to mind when I think of maple too! (but then again, I guess pancakes are always on my mind) 🥞😋 I bought a pack of those May Coop masks at Marshall's but still haven't tried them! I'm not too surprised they're an "A" mask!! I really need to pull one out and try it! 👍🤗

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Maple is just so versatile @Shosh85 - good for hydration and tastes delicious on pancakes! 😆

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi There's that pancake talk again! Syrup is definitely great on pancakes! It's my favorite use for it. 😍😆GIF image 67.gif

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85, yum! 😋 555A911F-F823-44CC-BA49-E22A1D8962F6.gif

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Ooh I did not know May Coop has a sheet mask @itsfi! How is it compared to the Polatam Brightening mask with oak tree sap essence?

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe both have clear liquid-y essence but to me, the essence in the May Coop Raw Sheet is thinner, more watery. There’s also some tackiness with the Polatam sheet mask that I don’t get with May Coop Raw Sheet.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Oh thank you for the comparison ! I have one of the Polatam left to use, I really enjoyed the scent, I might move it up on the list. I forgot about the tackiness and I’m curious how it works as a primer like @heartsmyface suggested🤔

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi the only way this could have been better is if you sung "Oh Canada" while the mask was on lol!  I love your theme today!  I've just started using the May Coop Raw Sauce and I like it so far.  I haven't looked into anything else they sell but the ingredients in this mask sound like I really should be checking them out!  mmmm... now I want maple syrup on pancakes....
