2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!
Hello lovely masking mavens! Please continue posting on the Q4 Thread which can be found here:
Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.
Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.
Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!
Mask Hacks - Here are a few to get started thanks to our lovely BIC-ers, a big thank you for these fabulous ideas!
Trim off long chin and add to forehead for sheet masks
Squeeze tube lip balms (like Bite) into pans and place in magnetic palette
Layer lip sleeping mask (such as Laneige) over regular balm
Derma plane prior to a peel-off mask to ease the pain of removal
Warm water helps remove clay masks quicker than cold
Lay sheet masks flat prior to use so the serum is more evenly distributed
Remove clay/difficult masks in the shower to keep towel clean and removal easy
Use an HA serum prior to trying a mask with alcohol high on the ingredients list
Use a Makeup Eraser to remove wash-off masks
With a detox mask, apply a thicker layer where pores are
Use a resurfacing exfoliating spray (such as Kate Somerville’s Liquid ExfoliKate) before a detox mask to better clear out your pores
Re-use a large sample jar for a blank sheet mask pellet and fill it with essence/toner
Use a nail clippers to trip a mask if scissors are not on hand

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!
lol That's a great idea... "hey ladies here is a 5 pack of masks... our best snail, horse fat, caviar, sea cucumber and whale spunk.... enjoy!"
FYI -- the word I typed in originally for spunk... not allowed.
Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!
@eshoe @missjeanie @Shosh85 @ShortErica Looking at the schedule for the latter half of the year, it seems like the week of July 22 (Letter D / "Weird" Mask Bubbling, Peeling, Colour changing other worldly wonders!) of the week of November 11 (Letter T / "Odd/Unusual Ingredients - Spirulina, donkey milk, bee venom, snail mucin - what masks have you used that have strange ingredients?") could be natural fits for "gross" masks, particularly the week of November 11.
Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!
@eshoe I'd love another gross week! I wasn't prepared for the last one – I'd love to try a velvet one and a horse fat one! Haha! 😂
Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!
I'm not a big fan of floral scents, and I purposely don't purchase them if I know it has that kind of scent. So I'll just keep going with the letter "I" .....
I is for Ice Sorbet 😉
MISSHA Ice Sorbet Cooling Moisture Sheet Mask
This is a very unique feeling mask – it was a sort of slimy and slippery, gel-like material. It was kind of like firm jello. Apparently, the material is a special 'Lan-Seal' sheet, "which has faster and better absorption than a sponge, to help deliver the active substances and to increase the skin’s absorption." It is infused with glacier water to deliver hydration as well as cool down skin. It claims to maintain the perfect temperature of 31°C to soothe and tighten skin, and improve skin elasticity. It was dripping with serum and had a fresh and clean type of scent. The fit was very good – just a little too long at the chin. It adhered well and was comfortable to wear. (My husband told me he approved of this one because it's see-through and hard to tell I'm wearing it. 😆) I kept it on for about 45 minutes and didn't feel much of a cooling feeling, it may have been just slightly cooler than your average sheet mask. There was still some serum on my face that I patted in and it absorbed very quick. My face looked brighter, felt soft and smooth and had a nice glow. The hydration from this was also long lasting. I would definitely use this mask again and give it a solid A+! The gel material on this mask would be awesome coming right out of the fridge – a perfect summertime mask. 👌
Re: hahahaha!! @Shosh85 he cracks me up 😂😂 this one sounds...
@lmaster He cracks me up pretty regularly! Haha! I'm always interested in what he has to say about these masks! I told him I appreciated his approval on this one. 😆
