ARCHIVE - 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hello lovely masking mavens! Please continue posting on the Q4 Thread which can be found here:

Spoiler

Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Spoiler
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Thanks @Shosh85 the scent just needs toned down a bit and it would be great! Those eye masks are now my hg!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Ugh I've been giving my daughter grape medicine today @lmaster and as good as it may taste, that kind of artificially sweet-scent is not something I'd want to wear for 20 minutes! Love those panda eye masks, I forgot about them, I know you've mentioned them before and loved them. Thanks for the reminder 😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe grape sounds nice in theory but yeah the artificial scent is just too sweet

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I really need to try those panda eye masks @lmaster!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

They are little miracles @faeriegirl now, I don't know exactly how long the effects of these last, because I'm not monitoring it, but with these, as soon as I remove them my lines are not noticeable at all

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Your song at the beginning is so creative although no fun for you @lmaster. Glad to hear your masking helped!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@ShortErica haha thanks lovey! Such a pain they are

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@lmasterughhhh... hormones can be mean sometimes eh?  Glad your masking helped out a bit with the nasty little sucker and really worked on those pesky fine lines!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Thank you @missjeanie it just came out of nowhere!! 🤯

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Week 14 - Apr 1 - 7 - N - BIC Made you do it!

"N" is for Biore Nose Strip and unfortunately Nothing. 😢

I was sure that even though I did a strip only a few weeks ago that my nose looked like it needed some gunk removed. I did one not only on my nose but on my chin. There were only a few things out. My husband said I must be clean but I'm just disappointed. I used hot water to open my pores and it stuck very nicely but it didn't have the results I love. At least my husband got some gunk out of his nose (though definitely not as much as last time) that I can share.

Husband's nose strip:

I plan to wait a month or so to try again. I hate wasting a Biore strip on no gunk. But you live and learn. 😉

@ShortErica I swear I would hardly get anything, but woul...

@ShortErica I swear I would hardly get anything, but would basically be ripping my skin off... it felt like! uughh

Re: @ShortErica I swear I would hardly get anything, but woul...

Usually I have some luck and occasionally have a dud @lmaster. I didn't feel like I ripped my skin just nothing came out despite having a good stick. I hope that means my next one will be better.

Re: @ShortErica I swear I would hardly get anything, but woul...

My experience exactly too @ShortErica

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@ShortErica I always feel disappointed if there isn’t very much on the strips too😂

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@faeriegirl I should've tried the baking soda trick. Next time!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@ShortEricaI feel you here... double edged sword, you want to get the satisfaction of getting a bunch of gunk out, but at the same time it's kinda nice that your pores are behaving and your routine is working well?

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Exactly @missjeanie! At least I can always get satisfaction that my husband will have gunk since he doesn't do much..if any..skincare. 🤦

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@ShortErica  It's always disappointing for me too, when the results aren't significant. Definitely feels like a waste of a strip. Your husband makes a good point though – it just means you're cleaned out pretty good already! My husband always gets a bunch out too – his are always more significant than mine! Hope the next one is more exciting for you! 😉🤞

Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Acne Prone Skin Sheet Mask

This is a pink, two-piece hydrogel mask, that was sandwiched between two protective layers. It had plenty of serum that had a light, clean and fresh type of scent, not grapefruit like I was hoping for. It had one side that was smooth and the other was textured, so I put the textured side on my skin to allow for better grip, since these hydrogel are notorious for being slippery. I've also learned that because the two pieces are usually layered on top of each other a little bit, it's better to put on the bottom part before the top, so it's sitting only on the skin and getting more grip. It's because I can layer these that they fit so well, it sorta makes them customizable. This one had a perfect fit and also had both eye and mouth flaps, that I never use flipped up, but I do like the eye flaps giving me more under eye protection. I left it on for about 40 minutes and when I removed it most of the serum had already absorbed and what was left wasn't tacky or sticky at all. My face looked clearer and brighter and had such a nice glow and my skin felt very soft and smooth. This mask also seemed to give some great hydration, something I don't usually get from acne-prone products. This one will definitely be a repurchase and it gets an A+!

The Creme Shop Neroli Face Mask

This is a thin cotton sheet mask that was drenched with serum and had a pleasant clean and fresh scent. The fit was pretty good – just a little wide at the temples and the space between the eyes was a bit too wide. I left it on for about 35 minutes and when I removed it there was still quite a bit of serum left and it was a little tacky. The tackiness only took about a half hour to diminish and my skin felt very soft and smooth. My complexion looked noticeably brighter and clearer and my face had a more awake/less dull kind of look. It also gave some excellent hydration that seemed to last for quite sometime! I wasn't excited to try this one out, but I ended up loving it! It's funny how that happens. 😉😃This one gets an A+
