2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hello lovely masking mavens! Please continue posting on the Q4 Thread which can be found here:

Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Mask Hacks -
Here are a few to get started thanks to our lovely BIC-ers, a big thank you for these fabulous ideas!

Trim off long chin and add to forehead for sheet masks

Squeeze tube lip balms (like Bite) into pans and place in magnetic palette

Layer lip sleeping mask (such as Laneige) over regular balm

Derma plane prior to a peel-off mask to ease the pain of removal

Warm water helps remove clay masks quicker than cold

Lay sheet masks flat prior to use so the serum is more evenly distributed

Remove clay/difficult masks in the shower to keep towel clean and removal easy

Use an HA serum prior to trying a mask with alcohol high on the ingredients list

Use a Makeup Eraser to remove wash-off masks

With a detox mask, apply a thicker layer where pores are

Use a resurfacing exfoliating spray (such as Kate Somerville’s Liquid ExfoliKate) before a detox mask to better clear out your pores

Re-use a large sample jar for a blank sheet mask pellet and fill it with essence/toner

Use a nail clippers to trip a mask if scissors are not on hand

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@faeriegirl This one is definitely a favorite of mine! So happy to hear you enjoyed too! 🍯👍 The Honey lip scrub is the perfect with this this mask! 👌

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I'm so glad you found a good mask match, @faeriegirl! I I am excited to try this one again tomorrow night, from everyone's posts I'm guessing it will be an easy <3

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Yeah!! So glad this was a love for you @faeriegirl! Great idea to pair it with the Sephora honey lip scrub!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I was thinking the same thing @itsfi. After you try the rose, I'm curious which one you like best @faeriegirl Smiley Happy

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I went for O theme for last nights quick masking sesh.

Last night I did my entire night routine with all Ole Henriksen products. I don't usually use all one brand for my routine only because I like to try different product. But I've really grown to love Ole.

I've tried all the products listed here before except the berry mask. It was a little different as I'm not used to a gel wash off. It was very pleasant. The scent wasn't too powerful, can't say it smelled a lot like berries, which I was hoping for, but something sweet or floral. Easy to apply and wash off and it definitely left my skin bouncy and hydrated. Will definitely look forward to using this again and again. (got this lovely at TJ Maxx)

I do use the eye gel at night regularly because I love the cooling sensation it gives to help with any depuffing.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Glad to hear you liked the Berry mask, @GalPalVal17! I haven't tried that one yet, but OH has so many nice products, I'm glad to see this is another good one.

this sounds awesome @GalPalVal17 very interested 👍😍

this sounds awesome @GalPalVal17 very interested 👍😍

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@GalPalVal17 It's too bad it didn't have a berry scent, but results sounds great! I've had my eye on the moisturizing cream from the line – it would be nice to have the pair!

I like that the eye gel had a cooling sensation  – definitely great for depuffing! I'm to hear you enjoyed it! 👍😃

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Oh @GalPalVal17 lucky you, that mask has been on my hunt-down list since @heartsmyface reviewed it awhile back! It sounds very nice, a good berry scent isn't easy to find in a mask, especially one that's meant to nurture/hydrate. Nice on-theme masking Smiley Very Happy

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Oooh, Ole!! Great to hear you like the berry mask, @GalPalVal17! I've seen it at TJ Maxx and Marshalls but haven't been able to decide whether to pick it up. I'll definitely look for it the next time i'm in the store.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

The Oozoo Cocoon Silk Fresh Capsule Mask

This cotton sheet mask has a milky, creamy serum on the mask itself and a capsule of serum on the front of the package, that you are supposed to firmly press, releasing it into the pouch. After bursting the capsule, you are to massage the pouch, ensuring the serum from the capsule gets distributed evenly. The mask was very saturated with the milky serum and also had plenty extra left in the pouch as well. It had a pretty unpleasant scent – it smelled a lot like mold to me, but the scent did dissipate a little bit, not too long after putting it on. The mask was too long at the chin and just a little big at the forehead. It was comfy to wear and had good adherence, just the extra length at the chin popped up a couple times. I had it on for about 40 minutes. When I removed it the little bit of serum that was left was a little tacky, but it all absorbed pretty quickly. My face looked looked a bit brighter and felt very soft and smooth. It also made me feel just a little dry.

This is not one I'd use again, even if it were free. This one gets a D, mostly due to the scent and the dryness.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Sounds like this mask could have been for gross week @Shosh85 !  Ewww

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@missjeanie Haha! In my opinion it could! 😂

yep I can most definitely agree with your rating on this...

yep I can most definitely agree with your rating on this one @Shosh85 a bit disappointed when I tried this last year

Re: yep I can most definitely agree with your rating on this...

@lmaster Yeah, I definitely won't be using it again!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Oh @Shosh85. The scent alone would have been enough to deter me. I know when I tried this one I really did not care for it either; but it was the stringy-ness that grossed me out. The TCFS egg cream mask was similar in texture and it was a quick removal-rinse-off-as-fast-as-I-can masking. So sorry :/

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe When I got a whiff of the mask after opening it, I almost just aborted the mission! Haha! – but I have used a few masks that didn't have the most delightful scent but had amazing results, so I figured I should at least give it a chance! Haha! Oh well. 😉

I haven't tried one of the TCFS egg masks and probably never will, because of all the negative reviews I've heard! 😬🥚

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Yeah you are not missing anything with those TCFS masks @Shosh85. I actually forgot about the scent in the Silk one; I just knew I never wanted to use it again!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Lesson learned: not all The Oozoo masks are created equal. Thanks for the review @Shosh85 and sorry for the bad mask experience.

Adding, wonder if the alcohol as ingredient 4 caused the dryness.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@ShortErica They can't all be winners! It's very possible the alcohol had a big part in causing the dryness, but I have used masked with a little bit higher of an alcohol content and didn't get dried out. So I'm thinking it might just depend on the mask and the other ingredients it contains. I'm not super sensitive to alcohol, but I certainly still try and limit it! I know one thing's for sure, I won't be using this one again! 😬👎
