@emaisgr8Is that bubble tea lip balm ever cute!
“O” is for “When opportunity knocks…”
So. My flight back home yesterday was not full and, in a stroke of luck, I managed to get a row all to myself. *Squee! This never happens…until it did! 🙂 I was very happy; I could lie down across 3 seats and take a little nap and/or sheet mask in semi privacy. Yes, “sheet mask” is now a verb!! I’m usually too self-conscious to sheet mask when I’m flying – I also fear that the one time I do try it will be the time that I open up the packet and essence shoots out and hits someone. LOL. Well, that was not going to be a worry this time since I didn’t have anyone seated next to me, so it seemed like a pretty opportune time to do it, because if not now, when?
Now, which mask to use? After some hemming and hawing at the sheet masks I had in my sheet mask pouch, I decided to go with Whole Foods Bio Cellulose Mask (Nourishing Royal Jelly). I’m a big fan of the Whole Foods sheet masks (I definitely need to remember to use some of these for “W” week) and a “nourishing” mask sure sounded like a fine idea while we were up in the air. The problem was how I was going to put the mask on without a mirror. I suppose I could have gone to the bathroom, applied the mask and then come out, but we really don’t need to scare people on the plane. 🙂 So, this was my best effort at putting on the sheet mask without the aid of a mirror – it wasn’t until after I had it on that I realized I could have, should have, used my phone. D’oh!!! The time recommended for this mask is 15-20 minutes. I tried keeping it on for my usual half hour but I probably got in a little more than 20 minutes of wear time. My skin felt soft and bouncy, and it was a nice refresher during the flight. Other than my subpar job of positioning the mask, my first time using a sheet mask on a plane was very nice – the mask was great and my skin got some hydration.
Thank you @lmaster! I was thinking someone was going to take the window seat in the row but then the door closed and I just looked over at the row and thought "all mine? Really?!"
@itsfi That's so awesome that not only did you mask in a plane, but got a whole row to yourself to do it in! – how relaxing! This sounds like a nice mask! Love that biocellulose material! Glad this made a great in-flight refresher and hydrator! 👍🤗
I love biocellulose masks @Shosh85, something about them is just soooo great! It doesn't feel full of serum but then you remove it and your skin is all bouncy and hydrated. 🙂
@itsfi That is awesome you were able to mask on the plane🤗
That was a highlight of the flight @faeriegirl! I met some friends for dinner last night and was asked about my trip and the first thing I said was "I used a sheet mask on a plane for the first time." They don't share my love for sheet masks but they know it's a thing for me so they all thought it was cute and funny.
@itsfi thats awesome that you got a whole row to yourself! Using that opportunity to mask = well done!
Thank you @emaisgr8! 🙂 I didn't think I'd ever use a sheet mask on a plane. It definitely felt like a "Dear Diary" moment - Dear Diary, the unthinkable happened today, times 2! I was lucky enough to get a whole row to myself AND I used a sheet mask on a plane." hahaha!
Gahhhhh! I LOVE that you got to mask in flight! Getting a whole row to your self already sounds like winning a mini lottery, getting to mask just adds to it! I think you did a fine job getting it on under the circumstances! I have grocery stores on my list to visit everytime I get further into the States now. No Whole Foods at my next destination (or on the way) and I just checked... no Trader Joe's either. Maybe good ol' Wisconsin will have something different for me to check out?
@missjeanie, I wanted to log onto BIC and let y'all know in real time that I masked on the plane. 🙂 Now, I can say I've done it. I dunno if I would do it again though - what's the likelihood that I'd get another row of seats to myself?! lol.
You have my full admiration for doing it @itsfi ! I always read about people doing this.. I think you made the best of a great situation... I love that you happened to have had a selection of sheet masks in your carry-on!
@itsfi an A for effort though! Great choice, a tried and true favorite, sometimes it’s best not to have any surprises. Love having a place to stretch a bit, too, hope it was a relaxing flight😊
@eshoe, the flight back wasn't so bad even though we hit a lot of pockets of turbulence - I'm sure it helped that I was able to stretch out and take a couple of naps during the flight.
I know @eshoe sent me the royal jelly but I haven't tried it.
These masks worth a 10 pack?
Also the ES brand and Cala foot masks..thoughts?
@ShortErica @eshoe @itsfi I believe I have all three of these. They're all lightly scented and were an ok fit. I think I paid about 6$ for a 10 pack. They all are like a filler type of mask for me. They'll be great in the summer out of the fridge on a warm day. I didn't notice any striking effect on my skin from them. The Camellia Flower Oil & Matcha Essence one (on the right) was my favourite. It had this amazing scent to it that I couldn't quite place, but gosh darn it... I really liked the scent and it took it up a notch from the others for sure. I have to say, after having used some of the animal face masks from TCS with my neices... these are better than the TCS animal faces ones.
I tried the one on the front left, @ShortErica, and wouldn’t repurchase. Not bad, had a decent scent (I think it was a bit floral) fit was off and generally just ok. @Shosh85 @itsfi @missjeanie has tried a few as well.
@ShortErica I haven't personally tried the Mitomo masks but have collected a lot of these boxes of them already because I've heard such great reviews on them. The Royal Jelly is one I'm the most interested in trying!
I've tried a lot of the CALA brand and I wouldn't say they were bad, just nothing special in my opinion.
Not sure what the "ES" masks you are talking about – is that an abbreviation for something or the actual name of a brand?
Good to know about the Cala mask @Shosh85! I have a pack of the foot masks but have yet to use any - I split the box with a coworker and she seemed to like them fine, but similar to what you mentioned, said it wasn't anything special or standout. I have some Mitomo masks - I know @missjeanie has tried them; my recollection is that she liked them. @ShortErica
@itsfi You haven't tried any of the Mitomo masks either? I think the Royal Jelly one will definitely be the first I'll try. 🤗😉👍
