2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hello lovely masking mavens! Welcome to the second half of the challenge. Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Spoiler
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi ( i swore i posted this response already but don't see it so reposting hoping it doesnt duplicate.. lol)

There is another clay mates duo mask from Bareminerals "be bright/be firm" and the firm one on that set does dry down quite a bit and tighten. Still easy to wash off. I don't mind it but just an fyi if you dont like that kind.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@GalPalVal17, the Ole mask sounds wonderful, I just love warming products!  Ole is a good brand.   I don't know what it is about Burt's Bees, some of his stuff stinks and others smell neutral nice.   Love, love, love, the matching masks!  Thanks for such an interesting mask session.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@byme4u I've had lots of success with Ole products. The Sauna scrub is great esp for the warming feeling, I like using the Walnut scrub along with the foam cleanser for a gentler exfoliation (as opposed to just the walnut scrub alone), and Love the Cold Plunge mask for the cooling sensation. Many other products Ole I love as well. Smiley Happy

I didn't know they had matching eye masks either lol @Gal...

I didn't know they had matching eye masks either lol @GalPalVal17 😂

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

When I first started using sheet masks I finished with a sheet mask @GalPalVal17, nothing more. I had no idea it wasn’t the last step😄 The Tony Moly Eye Gels look like something fun to try!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe Well, since I still feel kinda newer to the masking but quickly learning from this group, I didnt realize you can do so much more than just use a sheet mask. I thought it was just a sheet mask and nothing more but boy was I wrong. Of course for a simple night a sheet mask will do, but it's so much fun doing a whole routine for your face and learning all the different products.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I have learned so much from this group too, @GalPalVal17 and if all goes well, I’ll be learning for a long time😊

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@GalPalVal17 I really love that OH Sauna Scrub!! The warming sensation is fantastic!

I have that INSbyN sheet mask and need to use it soon – how did you like it? That's good to hear it doesn't have a scent.

I tried the Burt's Bees eye mask a while back and I don't remember what it smelled like, but I do remember not liking the scent either.😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85 yeah I couldn't really pin point the scent, probably one I just didn't recognize but just wasn't very pleasant. As for the sheet mask, it was fine. Nice and calming on the skin, fit was typical, a lil tacky but put some moisturizer on after.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@GalPalVal17I didn't know there were matching eye masks with the Tony Moly face masks!  I'll have to do a look around when I'm next at Ulta for those!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@missjeanie I haven't looked into buying the eye masks alone. I ended up getting a big set from Macy's for next to nothing and they had a few of these eye masks in there with plenty of sheet masks as well. So far for me, these are an easy buy when cheap and keep in your stash kinda  mask.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Oh yes @GalPalVal17 I remember seeing you haul that set I believe!  Nice catch!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

New Survey is up!A4B63D4E-144D-40D9-893F-E89E3808C397.jpegGlossier, Neogen, Bite & Sara Happ

Spoiler

A new one for me to kick off women’s week: Glossier’s Moisturizing Moon Mask. It’s a cross between a gel and cream, goes on smoothly and feels as though it has a slight cooling effect. The scent is pretty nondescript, in the jar it has an almost chemical scent which thankfully fades quickly.

I’ve used it a couple times so far, too soon to say how I feel about it. Love the cooling sensation, the soft, pillowy-texture, squalane and HA. It does have soybean oil which is something I just want to point out now. I REALLY need to be more diligent about checking ingredients. Which brings me to my sheet mask, Neogen’s Mexican Aloe Essential Mask to “Soothe and Calm Delicate Skin.” Love that goal!

The scent is a little strong, a bit floral-fruity, reminds me of the Lapcos masks. And hey, what is denatured alcohol doing fourth down on a mask to smooth and calm my delicate skin? Look who didn’t read the ingredients before buying!

Other than that, it is a nice mask that I would use more often if it weren’t for the above. Thin, soaked in serum, great fit-everything I would expect from the company that makes my beloved The Oozoo Rose Capsule Mask. A B- for the reasons above; would have been a great solid A filler mask otherwise.

Also used the Sara Happ Sweet Clay Lip Mask, feeling good about this one, it’s kinda fun to feel the unusual texture and I notice that my lips do feel softer when following up with the BITE BEAUTY - Agave Lip Mask. I am thinking it’s an A (the Sara Happ) but want to give it one or two more uses before deciding. I've only used it 4 times and the box states 30 uses; I thinkI will have way more than that. Can’t think of anything that I don’t like about it!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I agree @eshoe; it looks like you will get a lot more than 30 uses from the Sara Happ lip masks. I feel like to get to 30, you'd have to pack on the product; like A LOT of product!! I'm looking forward to seeing how many uses you can get out of it.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Yeah I think I should try applying a bit of a thicker layer next time @itsfi. I’ve hardly made a dent in it! Always interesting to find the cost/use 😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe, the Glossier moon mask has one of my all time fav moisturizing ingredients: almond oil.  Adding to list.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I love almond oil for my skin @byme4u! The great thing about this mask is the price isn’t outrageous, and it’s a fairly large (3 Oz) jar. So I don’t feel guilty about piling it on!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe I agree with @missjeanie, I love seeing the pictures of the textures of those two masks! Both look and sound so great!

Its too bad about the alcohol! I'm with you, I wouldn't have thought denatured alcohol would be in a mask that supposed to "soothe and calm delicate skin" 🤔 Glad you enjoyed it anyway!😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

You know @Shosh85, I really like @sonnydee ’s approach-proceed with caution! I will keep using them, unless I find some noticeable dryness going on. YES I love seeing the texture! I took a pic awhile ago of some of my masks in jars, going through my phone I noticed someone marked them up😄 but it’s fun to see how they all look. In a satisfying way like it is to see empties 😊

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoeThanks for including a photo of the Glossier and Sara Happ Masks!  I enjoy seeing the texture!  I'd say after the hives incident your skin could use some soothing for sure!  Bummer about the alcohol.  I just bought a bunch of masks that I didn't check either.  I think so long as you're careful about how often you're using them and how much you're putting on? Hopefully all the other great masking makes up for it anyway!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Yeah we’ll see @missjeanie. It was a nice enough mask, really. At least I know what masks I will be using on no-thinking-about-it days😉
