2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hello lovely masking mavens! Welcome to the second half of the challenge. Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Mask Hacks -
Here are a few to get started thanks to our lovely BIC-ers, a big thank you for these fabulous ideas!

Trim off long chin and add to forehead for sheet masks

Squeeze tube lip balms (like Bite) into pans and place in magnetic palette

Layer lip sleeping mask (such as Laneige) over regular balm

Derma plane prior to a peel-off mask to ease the pain of removal

Warm water helps remove clay masks quicker than cold

Lay sheet masks flat prior to use so the serum is more evenly distributed

Remove clay/difficult masks in the shower to keep towel clean and removal easy

Use an HA serum prior to trying a mask with alcohol high on the ingredients list

Use a Makeup Eraser to remove wash-off masks

With a detox mask, apply a thicker layer where pores are

Use a resurfacing exfoliating spray (such as Kate Somerville’s Liquid ExfoliKate) before a detox mask to better clear out your pores

Re-use a large sample jar for a blank sheet mask pellet and fill it with essence/toner

Use a nail clippers to trip a mask if scissors are not on hand

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Good call on “W” week @eshoe @missjeanie! 😃👍🏼 Hopefully I’ll remember when we get to that part of the alphabet.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

It was great @eshoe, the serum itself stayed quite liquid and was really nice to massage in after the mask.  It sure did give a great glow from being so well moisturized.  This one is a winner in my books!  I'll be keeping an eye out at TJMaxx/Winners to see if they get them in again!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@missjeanie, I think I have that Cosmetea mask as well - picked it up at TJ Maxx last year but I haven't used it yet, so I'm happy to hear that it is a LOVE for you! Smiley Happy The combination of the Pixi Glow Mud Mask and the Banobagi jelly mask sounds fantastic - one detoxifies the skin and preps it for the brightening and moisturizing  jelly mask to follow. Smiley Happy

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfiIve seen the Cosmetea brand masks at Winners here and didn't grab them! If I see them again I'll snag a pack.

The Mud mask was a great way to get some gunk out for sure.  I'm finding that I'm enjoying mud masks, especially the ones that dry down, much more with a sheet mask chaser.  It really seems to prime my skin for the sheet mask!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

A “sheet mask chaser” (LOVE that and a chaser is the best way to go with clay masks that dry down - great, great idea @missjeanie!) I have some clay masks I’ve not reached for a lot because they dry down but using a sheet mask to get hydration back is perfect! 👌🏼

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I think I was avoiding my clay masks for the beginning of the year beacuse I was getting such great hydration with the sheet masks, but I really like how it worked out using one then the other.  Best of both worlds! I'm going to keep this up I like being able to use my clay masks more in the summer for sure, but I'm going to try to do this more often.  Always with a chaser now @itsfi ! lol

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

J is for Jumiso. This one is brought to you by the lovely @itsfi!

Fun Fact: "Jumiso" is derived from two Korean words, "Ju" and "Miso."

Ju means "give" and Miso means "smile" – so Jumiso means, "Make you smile" 😃D816485C-3F0A-4085-8AA2-15E4686A063D.jpeg

Helloskin Jumiso Rich-Nourishment Sheet mask

This is a super thin and see-through cotton mask. It was drenched, but not dripping with serum and it had a very nice clean and fresh scent. The fit was good – just a little too wide near the temples. It adhered well and had pre-cut slits all around for better customization. I kept it on for about a half-hour. When I removed it there was only a little bit of slightly tacky serum on my face that I patted in and it absorbed quickly. My face looked less dull, very well hydrated and had a nice glow. Some of the tackiness was still there after the serum absorbed, but after placing moisturizer, my skin felt soft and smooth. This one I would definitely use again and I give it an A+

I love these @Shosh85 glad the feeling and experience is...

I love these @Shosh85 glad the feeling and experience is mutual 😉

Re: I love these @Shosh85 glad the feeling and experience is...

@lmaster I'm glad you love 'em too! It seems they're loved by many! 😍👍

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85 can you think of anything the scent reminded you of? The smell seemed familiar to me but I couldn't pinpoint what it was.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@ShortErica I saw you just tried the soothing one (in the black package) but did you try this one as well? I couldn't think of anything specific this smelled like – but I'm also not the best at describing scents! 😉😂

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Wait..I noticed the packages were different colors but thought that was the only difference since they were both called "Jumiso" and had the same picture. They are two different masks @Shosh85?!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I now see the corner of mine says "whoa whoa soothing" and yours is "rich nourishment." @Shosh85

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@ShortErica There is about 5? different masks in this line. "Jumiso" is the name of the line of masks. As you already figured out, they each have different names in the lower left corner and they each have different little pictures on it.  😉👍

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I think I have this one too @Shosh85@eshoe sent me so many choices and I think I grabbed the black package instead of this one out of my lineup. Is this my excuse to mask twice this week?! I wish I was as dedicated as some of you daily maskers but finding the time is my special relaxing treat. Thanks for being patient with me during my blond moment.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@ShortErica Its totally fine! These are easy to get mixed up! 😃

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Yaaay! So happy to hear you liked this mask @Shosh85! I've enjoyed the sheet masks from this line - the packaging is adorable and the results from the sheet masks are fantastic! Now, did you strike that pose on the front of the packet while using the mask? Smiley Happy

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi This one was really great! I still have the "Water-splash" one I'll be trying out this week.

Of course I had to try the pose! Fortunately, no one was around while I was doing it! 😂

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Yes!!! Love that you tried the pose @Shosh85! 💗👌🏼

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I'm wearing this right now! Not going to read the spoiler so I form my own opinion.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@ShortErica I'll be interested in your thoughts! 😉
