ARCHIVE - 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hello lovely masking mavens! Please continue posting on the Q4 Thread which can be found here:

Spoiler

Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Spoiler
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@sonnydee I'm glad you reviewed this one! This was one I was going to do this week, but got kicked to "S" week instead! I'm so happy you enjoyed it and that it didn't have any negative effects on your back to normal skin! It really sounds great! Can't wait to try it now!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@sonnydee sounds like a great mask!  Hydration/Moisturisture  is always a nice benefit from masks!  And how cute are the little stickers, what a fun addition!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

First a leftover from O week: the Origins Flower Fusion Lavender mask. Caveat- I'm not a big fan of Origins as many of their products have not worked well for my skin, but I needed free shipping on an order from Belk a couple of weeks ago and thought I'd give their sheet masks a try.

IMG_20190416_195011.jpg

Spoiler
And my track record with Origins continues, LOL. This just wasn't a good mask for me. The fit wasn't great. The material is pretty thick and did not easily adhere to my face. The overwhelming scent was very lavender essential oil-ish. Checking the ingredients, it has both spearmint and eucalyptus which I think contributed to some minty notes as well. I love soft lavender scents, but this one wasn't for me. I ended up only leaving it on for about 15 minutes, mostly due to the scent, and didn't notice any real effects from the mask itself. Maybe it was slightly hydrating? Eh. Anyway, definitely not a re-purchase for me. Grade- D

And moving right along into  P week: a couple of masks the lovely @eshoe gifted me a while back. First, the Leader's Himalayan Camellia Pore Minimizing Mask, followed by the Cosmetea Nourishing Moisture Mask with the pretty lady on the packaging.

IMG_20190410_174709.jpg

Spoiler
Like so many of the other Leader's Masks, I really enjoyed the Himalayan Camellia. It's a bio-cellulose mask, which means the fit was amazing. It basically sank right onto my skin. Though, because it's so thin, the material can take a minute to wrestle out of its packaging. After taking it off, I didn't notice too much of a difference in my pores, but my skin did look plump and bright. This one gets an A.

The Cosmetea was another cellulose mask, so it offered a pretty decent fit for my face. It has a creamy essence and a light slightly earthy scent. This one left my skin feeling pretty hydrating and I can see where it would be a decent mid-week mask when you're looking for a little boost of hydration and some time to relax. Overall, a B+ for me.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@quspork, so sorry to hear the Origins sheet mask didn't work for you. I've heard mixed reviews about their sheet masks and haven't been too excited to try one out, especially because I heard that they're heavily fragranced and I can see that not being a good fit for me.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Yes, if fragrance is something you're inclined to stay away from then this mask, at least, is not one I'd put on your list, @itsfi

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@quspork, subtly-scented sheet masks are usually fine with me, but it's a no-go for sheet masks with big, bold, overwhelming fragrance. I'm definitely going to continue to keep these Origins one off my list. 🙂

I have a couple other flower fusion masks @quspork but th...

I have a couple other flower fusion masks @quspork but thankfully from the sounds of it, not this one 😆

Re: I have a couple other flower fusion masks @quspork but th...

Hopefully the others work out well for you, @lmaster!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

The Himalayan mask sounds great @quspork!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

It made for a very nice masking experience, @faeriegirl!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

That line from Leaders is my favorite, @quspork, glad it worked well for your skin! Bummer about the Origins and the continued streak😂

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

You can't win them all!

And thank you again for sending these masks my way, @eshoe! Heart

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

You’re welcome, @quspork 😊

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@quspork I tried the Raspberry Origins mask and had some of the same feelings about it that you did with this one; the fit and scent weren't the greatest, but the Raspberry one did have some good results so it wasn't all bad. This one doesn't sound like one I'd like either! Sorry to hear you've had a bad track record with Origins! I know I've tried several products that didn't agree with me and my skin.

I have the other two masks and am happy to hear they did well for you, especially after the Origins! 👍

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Sorry to hear about your luck with Origins as well, @Shosh85. At least there are plenty of other fish in the sea, so to speak!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@quspork your description of the Cosmatea mask is pretty spot on to what I use them for.  A nice mid week relaxing mask with a bump of hydration.  So nice of @eshoe to send these to you!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

They seem like a good way to unwind, @missjeanie. I'm glad to hear they work for you too!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Although I don't like that you had a dud, I love seeing the grading distribution among these 3 masks @quspork. It really helps me with a quick comparison of what's definitely worth it, what's fine, and what it's worth it.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Thanks, @ShortErica. It's always nice to get a sense of how everyone rates different ones.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@quspork sorry the Origins mask didn't work out, but it looks like the next two did good for you.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Yes, they can't all be winners, unfortunately, @emaisgr8!
