2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hello lovely masking mavens! Welcome to the second half of the challenge. Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Spoiler
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

They're really great @ShortErica, and thin too! I just had a thought that these would be great not just for tired legs and feet but for really warm days when you just need to a little cool down. Smiley Happy

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

That sounds like a great idea @itsfi Smiley Happy Oh yes, I can imagine myself coming home after some weekend sports and wearing them while watching tv.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi I've loved using the eye masks and the cooling patches sound so relaxing! Definitely seems like the perfect self-pampering pair! I'm glad you enjoyed these! 😍🙌

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85, the eye masks are a wonderful way to treat tired eyes and unwind. I'm enjoying the cooling gel patches too. Will definitely need to make sure I always have a few of both in the house. Smiley Happy

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I bet those cooling gels feel so good on tired legs, @itsfi. What a great way to give yourself some respite while traveling 😊

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

They were a great way to unwind @eshoe. Definitely going to pick up some more; these are handy to have on hand.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

The cooling gel pads definitely sound like a nice treat for tired legs and feet, @itsfi!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

It was so nice @quspork! The first night I tried it, I just pulled a couple straight from the pack; the second night, I had placed them in the fridge a few hours before use. The cooling feeling was very welcomed. Smiley Happy

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi  I’m sure I’ve asked before so sorry for the repetitiveness...

which site did you get those eye masks?

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@GalPalVal17, you can order them online from masksheets dot com or Amazon also carries them. Amazon has 2 different box covers - one looks like the packaging above and the other has a photo of a woman with the mask on - both are the same product. For those in Canada, you can order from yesstyle dot com

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi Thanks so much. Need to get an order of these. Smiley Happy

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Tuesday Night On-Theme Masking with Kora Organics and Oh K!

ohk.jpgLaneige, OhK! and Kora Organics

Spoiler

Tonight I did a double-turmeric whammy with the KORA ORGANICS - Turmeric 2-in-1 Brightening & Exfoliating Mask and the OhK! Hydrating Bamboo Water Sheet Mask with Turmeric. My skin is right now saying ‘thank you’ after encountering a very impressive wash-off mask!

So the Turmeric 2-in-1 mask is pretty interesting. Like @itsfi shared, it has more of a dark/pea-green color than the saffron hue I was expecting to see from the turmeric.
kora.jpg
The scent is true, though, and a pretty welcome one; much different than a typical lotion-y scent, ha! There is an abundance of physically-exfoliating granules; a combo/oily skin gal might be interested in this one as it provides excellent exfoliation from that standpoint. I rinsed it off after 15 minutes (when it dried down) as gently as possible, but it still gave my skin a good healthy scrub. Overall, I don’t think it’s for my skin but I think it’s an A mask. Great ingredients, natural/unique scent, and it feels good Smiley Happy

Finally, I opened the Oh K! mask. As one of the less-expensive masks from this brand, I wasn’t expecting much. I picked up this and the Açai one from this line, saving the later for a duel. The scent…I could tell it was slightly fragranced. I was expecting a bamboo scent, though I have no idea what that would be. It was clean, fresh, not soapy - but leaning towards sweet-herbal? It fit quite nicely, no snips, cuts, etc.

The ingredients include bamboo (#2), and further down on the list, Willow Bark extract, Cinnamon, and Skullcap root extracts. There is a Whole Foods Skullcap mask that my skin enjoyed, so far this ingredient is a love so I hope to find more with it included. My skin is only slightly tacky, and looks happily plumped. An A and RP for me!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

The more I hear you mention the Oh!K masks the more I need to get to picking some up @eshoe !  Need another face and an extra hour or two in the day ASAP! lol

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Me too, @missjeanie 😂

I really need to try a bamboo mask @eshoe I've seen a few...

I really need to try a bamboo mask @eshoe I've seen a few on here, I really want to try

Re: I really need to try a bamboo mask @eshoe I've seen a few...

Maybe try a Find-> bamboo search in the spreadsheet @lmaster 🤔 I haven’t tried it yet but it might yield some results, as long as it’s in the name of the mask!

Re: I really need to try a bamboo mask @eshoe I've seen a few...

Oh cool @eshoe thanks for the tip 😘

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe, the bamboo masks sounds great; so far this year, bamboo has been my new ingredient find for the year, even though it's been around for years. The Kora is great on the oilier parts of my face, which is often where I concentrate my exfoliating scrubs.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I can see why you've been loving bamboo, @itsfi. I think I will be looking for others to try with this ingredient, it really agrees with my skin!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe I've liked the OhK! Masks I've tried so far and have heard positive reviews on them! Glad to hear you like it! Bamboo seems like such a great ingredient! 👍

Sorry to hear the Kora mask wasn't for you! Even though the consistency looks like some really bad 💩, it sounds like a pretty decent mask!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85 @eshoe, I'm all for "no frills hydration" - those are the workhorses in my sheet mask stash. Smiley Happy
