ARCHIVE - 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hello lovely masking mavens! Please continue posting on the Q4 Thread which can be found here:

Spoiler

Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Spoiler
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi oh I'm so glad you experienced this because I have one of these masks to try and had noooooo plans to read the instructions;) Love that we all have each other to learn from here!

Those hand masks are lovely. I am due for one, thank you for the reminder:)

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I guess the silver lining to my breakout is that we're all reminded to read the instructions, @eshoe? I'll at least get to see how well my concealer performs - ha!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi  First. Congrats on finishing up that sample!! I know how hard it can be with masks you love waiting in the wings! Secondly... don’t feel bad, I would never have read the instructions either. I do hope your new spots clear up quick though.  I’ve seen this brand at Winners and wondered about them. I’ll be curious to see how they do in a rematch!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Thanks @missjeanie! 🙂 I wondered if I would get through that sample before we got through one round of the alphabet on the letter of the week challenge - ha! I typically just look at ingredients and how long I'm supposed to keep the mask on and that last one is one I haven't been doing very consistently of late. Now I know. Well, now I know to be more careful with instructions with my sheet masks from New Zealand. Except for bubble masks which I do not have many of, most of my sheet masks are made in Korea, Japan or Taiwan and I've never run across any (again, other than bubble masks) that have you wash off the essence - or at least not that I'm aware as I clearly don't read instructions - hahaha! 🙂

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Ive only encountered one @itsfi .  It had a black serum that my pale self had to wash off. It was a surprise for me to see a black serum in the first place so it was a dead giveaway. I wonder if I still have one of those.... 🤔 I’ll have to check out where it was from!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Aw, I hope your spots clear up soon, @itsfi. Like you though, I don't know that it even would have occurred to me that a sheet mask needed to be rinsed off afterwards. A very important directions reminder to all of us indeed.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Me too @quspork, but scars or redness from acne spots take a while to go away on me. The bright side is that most are now just red dots, and thankfully, small ones - nothing some spot treatment won't take care of. There's one little bugger on the side of my nose though that is taking its grand time coming to the surface. It's the most prominent one (of course, it is) and will require more time and attention. This was a good (and memorable) reminder to read the instructions on the back side - I typically just look at the ingredients list and maybe on occasions the part of the directions that says how long you should keep the mask on. 😉

I'm proud of you @itsfi you are definitely wanting to get...

I'm proud of you @itsfi you are definitely wanting to get through that PTR 😆

Re: I'm proud of you @itsfi you are definitely wanting to get...

Awww, thank you @lmaster! I've really been trying to use what I have this year; it's been going pretty well, especially with skincare items. 🙂

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I love the Sephora Collection hand masks @itsfi! Too bad about the other ones😬

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

The hand masks are fabulous @faeriegirl! A good way to keep them soft and moisturized.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi I still haven't tried out my PTR because  I've pretty much heard everyone say it didn't work or just wasn't impressive. Nice job finishing it up! 👌

Sorry to hear you had a little reaction! It's a good reminder to me too, to read the instructions first! I've been curious about these after seeing them at TJ Maxx a bunch.  I'd be interested to see what kind of difference rinsing it off makes. 🤔

The hand masks are so nice! Glad you had something enjoyable in your masking session. 😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85, I'm planning a re-do of this mask for fruits and veggies week. We'll see then what, if any, difference it makes to rinse off the mask. I really hope I don't get pimples even if I wash it off.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Oh wow, I wouldn't think that a sheet mask was rinse off and probably would have ignored/not read those directions too @itsfi. Hope those tiny pimples only have a short visit. Good on Sephora's hand mask for saving your session.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@ShortErica, other than bubble sheet masks, it would never cross my mind that you rinse off the essence after the sheet mask. But now, I know and I don't think I'm likely to forget reading the directions. This one is by a New Zealand brand...hmmm, I may need to check out other masks from new Zealand brands to see if the rinse off feature is unique to brands from that country or just to that particular brand. I guess that means I need to buy more masks to find out? hahaha! 🙂

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hahaha @itsfi. I'm not going to stop you from researching for all of us with more mask purchases. 😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi I just thought of a sheet mask brand I've used that you're supposed to rinse off after using called "By Nature" – and they are actually a New Zealand brand. 🤔 What's in these New Zealand masks you're supposed to rinse off that's not in all these other masks? 🤔 @ShortErica

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Ooooh, good intel @Shosh85! Now I'm even more curious about this whole wash off the essence from a sheet mask when you're done approach. I didn't see anything about the reasoning behind it on the website for either of those brands (but I did learn that the brand that made the sheet mask I used, Rata & Co. is exclusive to TJ Maxx, Marshalls and Homegoods) and a quick Google search didn't bring up anything either. Hmmm....

@ShortErica

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Last night I tried a sample of Youth To The People Superberry Hydrate + Glow Dream Night Cream + Mask with Vitamin C 2 oz / 59 ml

it was a rich cream that soaked into my skin fast. It was nice and I plan on using up the rest of the sample tonight. 32DD4B31-827B-4C64-8728-C49158DE08E5.jpeg

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

This just might be my forever-and-always favorite sleeping mask @emaisgr8. So happy you are able to try it out!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I’ve had a sample of this one as well @emaisgr8 .  I’m going to try to get through some sleeping masks before picking this one up for the fall sale!
