ARCHIVE - 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hello lovely masking mavens! Please continue posting on the Q4 Thread which can be found here:

Spoiler

Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Spoiler
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@emaisgr8 That YTTP is a top favorite of mine! Sounds like it was the star of the show! Glad you enjoyed it!😃👍

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

You know @emaisgr8 your notes in the thicker mask/thin serum made me realize that just the opposite is what generally makes an outstanding mask for me-thinner mask/almost jelly-like serum. Glad you finished off a dislike, good for you🙌🏼😊!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I've enjoyed those Tony Moly masks.  Quite nice and you're bang on with 'refreshing' @emaisgr8 .  Too bad the lace mask was a dud, but looks like you had some wonderful follow up masks!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

You're brave to go back and use that black lace mask again @emaisgr8! Brava! 👏 It doesn't sound like the most pleasant mask. Nice that the other masks worked out better.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@emaisgr8  too bad on the lace mask but yay its over. sounds like an overall good masking night.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@emaisgr8 Sorry about the lace mask😬. I’m loving the YTTP mask too❤️

the worst masking experience in my life with with that la...

the worst masking experience in my life with with that lace mask! 😲 @emaisgr8

Re: the worst masking experience in my life with with that la...

I can understand why @lmaster

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

great masking @emaisgr8 ! Glad you are loving the YTTP - it's one of my faves I discovered in the masking thread as well!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

That YTTP Superberry seems to be a favorite here! Plump skin sounds awesome. Glad your masking finished on a high note @emaisgr8!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Week 18 - Apr 29 - May 5 - R - Sephora’s ‘Best Selling’ Masks

I couldn't find the honey in my store so @missjeanie reminded me I did have another Sephora mask - the clay mask samples!

20190504_202358.jpg

Although I had my facial not too long ago, I noticed I still had a couple black dots on my nose last week and well, as a picker, had to get them out. I actually pulled off skin to get out them so shame of me. They were still there or had returned after the skin healed on Saturday so I popped them out (much more gently this time) and opted for the green clay - Purifying and pore perfecting.

I'm not a big wash off mask person or at least don't gravitate toward them. The other reason I went with just green was that I didn't think I would remember if I saved part of the mask for later. I've been spoiled with masks and the little tube would surely get lost. I would have to plan to use the mask over a few days and have it out in the open if I wanted to use a bit at a time.

The entire sample could easily cover my face and parts of my neck. I didn't know how thick/thin of a layer to apply because I don't have experience with wash offs except maybe the Loreal yuzu clay sample.

My face:

Spoiler
20190504_203235.jpg

Thanks to @lmaster I knew to use a makeup eraser to wipe it off. Wonderful tip! My skin felt nice and I applied moisturizer. Only two days have passed but I don't see the black dots on my nose where I removed them. Hopefully this did purify and perfect those pores!

Again, the one time use even though I grade sheet masks easily is a struggle (I assume clay masks should be used more than once - who knows why) but I'd say A-. It's a me thing. Still not pulled over to the wash off mask side but I did like this and I think it did perform well at least for now. I will likely use the gray sample all over my face at some point and then specifically target areas for brightness with the pink one. I just need to wake up early enough for it. At least the clay wouldn't be wet and cold like @heartsmyface's description of a sheet mask in the morning. Ha!

I also want to add the green clay had a bit of grit, possibly exfoliation? I'm curious if the texture of all three will be the same. I know someone else had this sample too but I don't recall if they used all three packs like the sample card suggests to target areas or not. Now to search the Masking Challenge thread!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I didn't use the gray one - I used the green one! @heartsmyface @PrettyPaint - glad my sleuthing paid off since my memory of the mask was like "it was gray."

See my impressions above! I believe someone else commented that only the green one has grit to it.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@ShortErica I've been curious to try these out! The green one looks fabulous on you! The Makeup Eraser works well! If I can plan it right, ideally I like to rinse it off in the shower. 😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

That would be smart @Shosh85. I'm a morning showerer (totally a word) and well getting up to mask in the morning...😴

Let me know when you do try it out.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@ShortErica isn’t that Makeup Eraser tip from @lmaster the best for getting pesky masks removed?!?! I had a couple that I never, ever used (I am afraid of getting makeup stains on them. So I don’t use them). I use one almost every night now.

Adding grit is an interesting idea. Crushed oats maybe? Not sure how heavy you want to go but poppy seeds would give a little more exfoliation.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe poppyseeds that is a at great idea!!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@lmaster is one smart cookie! I may give more wash off masks a try.

@eshoe Ut oh - confusion! I probably worded it weird. Like I do when I'm excited and typing fast. I meant "I wanted to include information that the green one has grit" not that I want to add grit to the mask. Though crushed oats could be a good idea for exfoliation. @emaisgr8 let me know that the green has a grit in it but the other two don't. 🙂

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Thanks @ShortErica you know I thought that maybe I read it incorrectly and meant to go back, but...distractions and the morning happened.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

No..there's no distractions. 😉  @eshoe

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@ShortErica  so I used the green clay mask and it did help remove my pesky black spots on my nose. And thanks to your review about using the makeup eraser it removed it so easy. Such a smart tip @lmaster

now I want to get in on this challenge every week!
