Hello lovely masking mavens! Please continue posting on the Q4 Thread which can be found here:

Spoiler

Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Spoiler
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

I like the sounds of a mud mask without a mess @l8totheparty happy this worked for you

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

The last of J/Colourful week!

I tried out the Dr. Jart Rubber Mask, Clear Lover mask after reading about @itsfi trying the yellow version.

Spoiler
This mask was intimidating to me for some reason.  I have a few of them and just never tried them out thinking they'd be a lot of work?  I was wrong.  The ampoule had enough in it to cover my face, though there wasn't much more.  The mask was a two piece and the top half was a bit short for my forehead, though the pieces stayed on my face really well.  They did feel a bit cooling when I first put them on, but after a few minutes I didn't notice it anymore.  I ended up leaving the mask on for at least an hour, maybe closer to an hour and a half.  I chose the 'clear' version of this mask as I'm having some hormonal breakouts, and I think the mask helped.  The mask felt as though it was deeply hydrating/moisturizing, possibly due to the length of time I had it on.  My two spots were significantly smaller and they weren't dried out as with typical acne treatments.  I'm kinda glad I have more of these and won't be hesitant to use them in the future.

I tried out the Hydration Alert Sensor Mask.  I thought that it was going to be a colour changing mask... sorta?

Spoiler
This mask was going to be colour changing in my mind.  Where I got this idea I'm not exactly sure.  In reality its a mask that has little stars on it that get darker as the mask dries out.  I could faintly see the stars when I pulled the mask out, but once it was on my face they weren't visible.  I figured that as I kept the mask on I'd see the stars.  Nope.  I had the mask on for a good 30 minutes and it was totally dried out on the nose and philtrum.  I took off the mask and in a few minutes the sheet started to show it's stars.  I'd never let the mask get that dry on my face.  I was super disappointed that I didn't get any fun stars however.... this mask really was hydrating.  I enjoyed the results.  I'd be willing to recommend this one to anyone to give a shot.  It was a good mask, just not what I was expecting.  If my collection wasn't so ridiculous I'd get a few more.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@missjeanie  Glad you had good results with the Dr. Jart, and that star mask sounds really interesting! ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@PrettyPaint Thanks!  The Dr. Jart was lovely and I'll be using the ones I have much more often now.  The stars mask was interesting for sure.  Great concept, just not quite executed.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

How interesting about the stars on the Soo-Ae mask, @missjeanie. I'm glad to hear it helped with hydration even if it wasn't exactly the color-changing effect you were expecting!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@quspork It was actually pretty great for the hydration factor even if the fun factor fell a bit short lol can't win em all eh!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@missjeanie I have tried all the Dr. Jart rubbers, except for this one and have liked them all. They're pretty fun and have nice results! - I think I'm too cheap though, cuz even the discounted TJ Maxx price is a little too much for me, but I felt like I had to try them at least once. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Glad you enjoyed this one!

I tried that sensor mask too and had pretty much the same experience- the stars didn't work well, but it did give some good hydration. Good to know it wasn't just me! Not bad for a $2.50 Mask from Walmart ๐Ÿ‘

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85 I know what you mean about the Dr. Jart I think I paid 7.50 US for them, which is more than I'd normally shell out for one mask.  But like you I needed to try em when they were so much less than regular price.

Glad I wasn't the only one who's stars didn't quite work out, neat concept though!

how interesting about the stars @missjeanie still sounds...

how interesting about the stars @missjeanie still sounds pretty cool

Re: how interesting about the stars @missjeanie still sounds...

I agree. The star experience sounds quite interesting @missjeanie. I'm assuming you haven't encountered a mask similar to it before? I'd be curious if there are others like it from different brands.

Re: how interesting about the stars @missjeanie still sounds...

@ShortErica @lmaster This was the first colour changing mask I've done and the only I've seen in person.  I want to say that I heard about colour changing masks before though.  Can't recall the brand at the moment though.  I'm a fan of the concept... just needs some work on the execution I think.

2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Fall mask week-last night. im a little disappointed in the scent. Maybe very faint pumpkin. But faint. The good news- lots of serum. Dripping. literally. I left this on for about 20 min & easily could leave it on longer. My face was drenched but dried down without being tacky. The fit was a bit weird, had to move this around a bit-wide on the by the nose part. ๐Ÿ˜ณThis leaves a residue maybe thats the part that controls the oil. Cant say about the discoloration part- that would take more than one use. I did wake up to soft skin that looked good so happy to use the 2nd I have, maybe I would get a box if I found at a Tjmaxx/marshalls but the scent was so disappointing๐Ÿ˜”Hopefully my first was a dud. ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’› 4 out of 5 for performance not for scent

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Too bad it didn't have a more pumpkin scent, @sonnydee!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@sonnydee so disappointing on the scent but good to know!

awwww @sonnydee if it just smelled like pumpkin!

awwww @sonnydee if it just smelled like pumpkin!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@sonnydee I heard the scent on this was a little disappointing and haven't been too motivated to try it out. Happy to hear the results turned out nice for you - but I agree, it definitely would've been so great if it smelled like pumpkin spice!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Oh some pumpkin latte scent would have been marvellous @sonnydee !  Glad the results were there!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

With temps still closing in on 100, it doesn't have the feel of Fall.  I was going to skip this week, but realized I was on letter with "K" for Kiehl's Ultra Overnight Hydration mask.   I had used this in prep for 7 days of extra strength peels.

Not 7, so no challenge for me.  I'll use my 3 peels & moisturizer at my leisure.

Kiehl's overnight hydration is a gel consistency and hydrates very well.

I wasn't familiar with the product, but a try me size was included in a set I

purchased.  The mask claims to replenish skin's water reserves; contains

Japonicus root extract which helps skin to retain moisture.

Apply a healthy layer, remove excess after 10mins; allow to work overnight.

I did not use a moisturizer before application, results were Grade AWIN_20190521_14_59_44_Pro.jpg

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Oof, I hear ya- @byme4u - it's 95 here today! In the middle of September! I am so ready for some actual fall weather. At least the mask sounds like a winner!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@byme4u Why didn't I think of K for Kiehls?! I'll have to dig through my stash and see if I have any Kiehls. This one sounds wonderful! Happy to hear it was an "A" mask for you! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Wow... still hot where you are!  I was worried I'd see frost when I got up this morning.  The truck said it was 6 degrees C when I got in this morning, which looks to be about 43 in F.  I'm glad the Kiehl's worked so well @byme4u , I'm hoping to dig into the brand over the next year!
