Update on Foot Peeling Shoes by TONYMOLY @RGbrown @Weetart @divaknits
Tagging few people who were interested in the review.
I kept it on for 2-2.25 hrs. Washed my feet afterwards, put on some moisturizer (you are not supposed to do that, I didn't know and didn't see anything in the instructions). Put on some socks, felt bit of heat (probably from all the acids working)
Nothing for about 6-7 days. Then after that I took a very long shower that day and when I came out, saw skin bubbling up on both feet.
Lots and lots of peeling for next 5-6 days. I slathered Aveeno lotion and kepts socks on.
At this point I was super worried rather paranoid about providing feast for all the dust mites on the carpet and bed sheets so kept socks on the whole time and man !! it is hot here, took socks off only for sleeping. Changed bed sheet every 2-3 days and vacuumed the heck of of bedroom, changed and washed socks everyday or twice a day.
How have other people done it and found solution for peeling skin, feeding dust-mites and worsening allergies ?
Results - Pretty nice, soft and pink upper feet and all of bottom feet except for heels. did not see much peeling in the heels and still rough cracked skin there (whole reason I braved this foot mask was to get the soft the heels). Very minimal (dust like) peeling in the heels.
Will I do it again : Probably stick with my Amope Pedi Perfect heel scrubber/ scrapper. Also, I might try the sample of acid peels that I get (and wouldn't use on my face) on my feet for gentler exfoliation. I can wear those gel socks (on amazon) after applying the peel liquid to reduce the risk of wiping it all on socks. Combination of above two will probably give me the same results this foot mask but without all the crazy peeling.
If this trick doesn't work and I do muster courage to try foot peel again, I will definitely do it in Mar-Apr so that keeping socks on the whole time will not be so terrible without all the heat.
What's not to do/ to-do: I read instructions on the web after not seeing any peeling for 6 days, you need to -
Not use any lotion
Soak the feet everyday for 10 min or longer
Maybe my results (on the heel) would have been different if I did the above two steps.
Thanks for the review @naturalooks15 . I have a different foot mask from Bath and Body Works that’s supposed to do the same thing. I can’t imagine not using lotion on my feet. My feet are DRY! And all that shedding. 🤔 I’ll use it when I feel I can wrap my head around all the steps.
Thank you so much for posting this here, @naturalooks15! I hear you on all of your concerns. I have tried one foot peeling mask and it was so stressful for me, waiting for the peel, wearing socks because I was terrified of the peeling...one is enough.
I did NOT like the way my feet felt. I'm strict about my foot cream (AM) and balm (PM) and not being able to apply any for a week and a half was a lot to ask from a mask. The gel socks sound interesting, will have to take a peek at those but can't see myself buying them if they are for post foot-peels because those are not in my future, either.
@eshoe gel socks (gel only on heel) are for moisturizing your heel but I use them as socks after slathering heel cream on to save my bed sheet. I don't know how moisturizing are those on their own, but work very well as cover-up without making you hot. I wash them at sink with just soap and water.
There are two kinds, fabric with gel inside around heel area, just gel cups. I like just gel ones in the summer.
These are the two kinds I have from 2-3 years ago (don't use them everyday) but now there are many others on Amazon
Wow these would be great for summer, @naturalooks15. I wear socks at night because I apply balm on my feet, but these look like they might be cooler. Thank you!
I really appreciate this run down on the foot mask @naturalooks15. I plan to do one this week so I'll remember to soak and no lotion.
Last night of "D" masking, I tried the Jeu'Demeure and got an early start on "E" Week. ***ETA I cannot believe I posted without mentioning it, but this enormous one pound TUB of Amika was gifted to me by the fabulous @missjeanie! I love it and am so embarrassed I didn’t say so earlier. Thank you so very much, I won’t have to buy another hair mask for the next 2 years😄!!!***
My goal is to finish at least ONE of the Laneige lip masks before the holidays. I had no business getting that set, they last forever! I am on a self-imposed lip balm no-buy until I clear out a few. I still have FS Bite backups, too 😄 Love this balm, though. Happy National Lipstick Day all!
The Elemis Peptide4 Thousand Flower Mask is a very nice black, semi-translucent ylang-ylang/jasmine scented mask. It is just the tiniest bit exfoliating, and rinses off easily. I enjoy it very much, still an A+ mask for me.
The Jeu’Demeure was reviewed by @GalPalVal17 and @lmaster, so I was prepared going in that it might be a dud. Upon opening, I found a fairly strong signature sheet mask scent. There was a decent amount of watery essence in the packet, and I applied the mask to check the fit. I haven’t had to use my scissors in awhile, but this one needed some snipping around the eyes. It didn’t adhere well, and I found myself patting the chin area and sides a few times to keep it in place. After about 20 minutes I removed it; within 5 minutes my skin felt dry, like it needed moisture. It was just a little tacky, not terrible. I used my La La (which I haven’t been using that often due to the heat) and my face felt better. This was about a B-/C+ mask.
I'm so glad you liked the Amika Triple Rx @eshoe ! And I hear you on the Leneige lip mask... I only have one and it seems to be lasting forever!
I love it, @missjeanie! Mostly I wish you could have seen my face when I opened it😳😂 You are way too generous!
@eshoe I never tried that Amika mask, but I love Soul Food. How do you like it?
My Laneige lip masks last 3/4 months, but I use a very thick layer! I still have some on when I wake up.
@Cyncynn I somehow missed the most obvious mask in my pic - YES the Amika Triple Rx Mask that @missjeanie was so kind to send me is lovely! The scent is just right, the texture is just rich enough but not too much for my fine hair. The Soul Food is almost a lighter version of this in my opinion.
@eshoe Awesome, good to know - thank you so much for sharing.
Yes, you are correct @itsfi...cannot believe I missed that. I feel awful, @missjeanie was so kind to send that to me. One full pound, it's like butter for my hair 😄
@eshoe It's too bad the sheet mask was unimpressive, but at least you were prepared going in and I'm glad the Elemis could make up for it! How do you like the Amika?
Ugh @Shosh85 I cannot believe I didn't mention it in my OP, I feel so awful because it is a very special unicorn mail gift from the one and only @missjeanie! The Amika's scent is lovely, it's got a great consistency (like a chunky pudding, hope that's not too gross :D) and leaves my hair feeling soft. I was rinsing it out tonight when I realized I omitted it; feel like a total dork.
@eshoe I'm happy you enjoyed it! It's one of my favorites! 😃
