ARCHIVE - 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hello lovely masking mavens! Please continue posting on the Q4 Thread which can be found here:

Spoiler

Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Spoiler
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

😆 maybe it is, @quspork @lmaster !

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Haha!! @quspork too funny!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@lmaster  .....sweet vegetable, eh? Is that what you call a "scent phenomenon" too?😂

These are all turning out great so far! This one sounds nice! I'm glad you liked it! 😃👍

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85 hahaha 😂 it was very nice, the scent isn't my favorite from all of them I've tried,, but it's enjoyable

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Love hearing that Papa Recipe has other great masks @lmaster! I'm excited to try the flavors you sent my way and I'm really intrigued by the scent on this one. Sweet vegetable?! Now I'm going to think all night about what is a sweet vegetable ... lol! 😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi I swear I smell something vegetable and something sweet here 😂

Crop Brightening Sheet Mask

This is thin and transparent Tencel sheet mask that was soaking in a white, milky serum. The scent is hard to describe - it sort of smelled like a mix of things that I can't quite pinpoint, but what stood out to me was a tea tree scent. It was ok, but not entirely enjoyable and it wasn't too noticeable while the mask was on. The fit was pretty good - about an inch too long at the chin. The adherence was ok, but I did have to smooth down parts of the mask in certain places, especially the extra length at the chin. I had it on for about a half hour and when I removed it the serum leftover was slightly tacky, but took less than 5 minutes to absorb. My face looked brighter and clearer, felt refreshed and nicely hydrated.

This is one I enjoyed and had great results! I would definitely use again, but because of the scent I'm not so sure I'd purchase.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Well now I have the perfect way to describe masks that go beyond signature sheet mask but refuse to be categorized as any ingredient in particular, @Shosh85. Thank  you for enlightening me 😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe I feel like I've been getting a lot of masks with "mystery scents" lately. Haha!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I have been too, @Shosh85. They aren’t quite soapy but neither are they floral. Or fruity. Mystery scent seems about right!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Too bad there wasn't a better scent, @Shosh85, but I'm glad you got some good results from it!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@quspork The scent wasn't the best, but I've definitely smelled worse! The great results made up for scent though! 😃👌

@Shosh85 the scent phenomenon is real! lol

@Shosh85 the scent phenomenon is real! lol

Re: @Shosh85 the scent phenomenon is real! lol

@lmaster Haha! Fo real tho! 😂

Re: @Shosh85 the scent phenomenon is real! lol

Love that term @lmaster - scent phenomenon!! <333 @Shosh85

Re: @Shosh85 the scent phenomenon is real! lol

@itsfi it's become my favorite part of masking

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85, I haven’t heard of the brand before; the ingredients look good. Bummer about the scent.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi It seems like a great brand - known for having 95% naturally derived ingredients. The scent on it wasn't the best, but the results were pretty great, so I call that a win 👍😃

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Glad it had good results @Shosh85. I appreciate the warning about the scent. I grabbed it because it was tencel material and I know some people really like it. I need to pay closer attention to ingredients since I also don’t seem to be a fan of tea tree. I wonder if others have tried different CROP masks. I figured I would give it a go when I had my May Masking Madness purchases.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@ShortErica I'm super sensitive to scents, so it could just be me. Also, it smelled like a mix of things, not just tea tree - it's just the only scent out of the mix I could pinpoint 😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

It's been crazy the past couple of weeks so I'm a little behind and hoping to catch up with a couple posts this weekend, but here's the first, a leftover from B week: SkinPlanet's Daily Fresh Garden Bamboo Water sheet mask.

IMG_20190719_172322.jpg

This was a random pick up that ended up a very pleasant surprise. Opening it up, it was very wet to the point of dripping and needing to be applied while leaning over a sink. But once it was in place, I didn't find it to drip down my neck or anything as some that have been that wet have in the past. It was a thin material and had a nice fit with minimal adjusting. Good adherence. I love the scent- very bright and fresh, almost like lemon-lime soda! I found it to be very hydrating and would not hesitate to purchase this one again! Definitely an A!
