ARCHIVE - 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hello lovely masking mavens! Please continue posting on the Q4 Thread which can be found here:

Spoiler

Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Spoiler
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

I don't think I've tried this particular mask @PinkEvergr...

I don't think I've tried this particular mask @PinkEvergreen sounds great

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@PinkEvergreen Love your duel and review! I prefer the Farmacy over the Dr. Jart too.... but I think I prefer Farmacy brand over Dr. Jart in general. I'm cheap too, and don't like spending more than $3-4 on a single mask. I just usually wait for a sale to try out the more spendy ones 😉😃

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85 I’m a diehard Dr. Jart fan when it comes to their BB cream and water gel moisturizers, but Farmacy has definitely impressed me with their mask quality!

Plus! My skin has finally decided that it’s going to tolerate Farmacy’s Honeymoon Glow AHA Night Serum after all. It freaked out initially (it’s quite sensitive) but I kept trying it in very small amounts. Now I can use it all over my face two or three times per week with zero irritation — yay! I’m really happy about that, considering I got a second, full-size bottle in my June BoxyLuxe 😂

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I just added the Farmacy mask to my cart thanks to your review @PinkEvergreen !  Though I haven't tried that particular Dr. Jart mask, I have liked the other ones that I have tried.  If the Farmacy are better then it's a win-win for me because they're cheaper than Dr. Jart.  Thanks!!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@mrsmouse  I hope you like it as much as I did. Let me know how it works out for you! 😊

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Will do @PinkEvergreen !  🙂

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Looks like there is a clear winner. Thanks for the duel @PinkEvergreen.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

im so excited you loved the Farmacy @PinkEvergreen ! I had bought a few during the spring sale and then leas super excited to find two of these masks in my June Ipsy as well. Best Ipsy bag so far, kept me from unsubscribing!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@missjeanie  Yup, it was a great Ipsy!

I know I said in my post that I probably won’t buy more of the Farmacy masks because of the price but I think I’ll buy more the next time we get 20% off. It was so good that I can’t wait to use it again! 😃

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I fell in love with the older packaging style of this mask @PinkEvergreen , if the newer packaging is half as good, I’ll be buying more at the same time as you!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Woo hoo!  Winner winner! Thanks for the reviews 😊

@PinkEvergreen

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@l8totheparty  You betcha 😊

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Tonight I tried another “new to me” mask and had good results. It was Enzyme x Ferment Softening Mask by Sexylook:

F485939E-3941-4DF9-B0AE-5E08EBD85EE5.png

What I liked: Super-soft mask material. Perfect size for my face, width-wise. Near-perfect size, length-wise. Almost no discernible odor or fragrance. Nice, semi-watery consistency of serum. Enough serum for face, décolletage, arms, and hands. My face felt completely hydrated and plumped after 30 minutes.

What I didn’t like: The strip over the lip was thin, and dried up and curled prematurely. The mask could have been just slightly longer, to curl right over my chin. (I like to have an extra inch at the bottom to keep my under-jaw skin supple.)

This mask is chock-full of goodness. This was in the description from the Chuusi International website where I purchased it:

♡ 75 fruits and vegetables enzymes

♡ Black tea ferment

 Resveratrol

♡ Hyaluronic Acid

 Niacinamide

♡ Panthenol

At CAD$3.56 / US$2.70 it was definitely more expensive than my usual masks, but the comfort of the soft mask material was exquisite. I would rate this an A-.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@PinkEvergreen  Oh this one sounds so nice.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

That's a nice list of ingredients, @PinkEvergreen. Glad this one worked out well for you!

oh how great is this mask!? @PinkEvergreen

oh how great is this mask!? @PinkEvergreen

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@PinkEvergreen Thanks for the pricing context. I like learning what everyone spends on masks and what is expensive to them. Discount stores have spoiled me. 😃

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@ShortErica  I mention the prices because I used to overpay wildly for sheet masks, which is why I couldn’t justify masking on a daily basis. Now that I’ve found excellent, well-priced options here in Canada (via Chuusi and Amazon), I use at least one sheet mask per day.

Daily sheet masking has been so transformative for my skin (very sensitive, former rosacea sufferer, acne-prone) and I want to help make it accessible to others who may be under the impression that sheet masking is expensive. It really doesn’t need to be 😊

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

That's wonderful @PinkEvergreen. Do you prefer to mask morning or evening? What ingredients have you found to be the most helpful in sheet masks?

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@ShortErica I’m definitely an evening masker. My face seems to respond so much better to evening masking, probably since I can leave the masks on longer (I usually keep them on for 30-45 minutes) and don’t need to rinse anything off afterward. I think allowing my skin to rest with these serums and essences overnight is key for me.

As for sheet mask ingredients I like, I’m always trying something new and usually end up loving it, it seems 😂  Some favourites off the top of my head:

-rice

-squalene

-milk and yogurt

-hyaluronic acid

-lotus

-red wine

-collagen

-wine yeast

-fruit enzyme blends

-fermented fruit and vegetable ingredients

I find these ingredients appear alone or together in many of my masks and seem to be so soothing, hydrating, and clarifying for my skin. Some, such as the hyaluronic acid and fruit enzyme masks can be slightly irritating to my skin (and I do truly mean slightly — no more than a temporary red flush), so I space those out throughout the week to keep things balanced.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@PinkEvergreen  I really like rice masks. My skin reacts well to them.
