ARCHIVE - 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hello lovely masking mavens! Please continue posting on the Q4 Thread which can be found here:

Spoiler

Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Spoiler
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Great masking @Weetart ! Is that a steaming eye mask I see?

RE: Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

It sure is @divaknits ! I scratched the skin under one of my eyes like a few weeks ago when I was washing my face and it gets aggravated by the end of the day. (If you look carefully at my selfies you can see the inner bottom of one eye is puffy with extra wrinkle action, that’s the scratch) Been hitting the eye steam masks pretty hard to sooth it. They are sooo comfy and help me pass out at night.

I've recently started really liking the PTR mud mask @Wee...

I've recently started really liking the PTR mud mask @Weetart

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Yay @Weetart, more love for the Irish Moor mud mask! 😍 Love those steam eye masks too. They’re so relaxing!!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Lovely masking session, @Weetart

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Nice masking session @Weetart

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Awesome masking @Weetart! I really liked the PTR mask too!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Weetart Sounds like some successful masking! I love the Irish Moor and it sounds like it'd be a great pair with the Egg Sheet mask! Happy to hear you enjoyed everything! 😃

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Friday I tried the Lapcos Milk moisture mask gifted to me by the lovely @eshoe .

IMG_1008.jpg

Spoiler
This mask is soaked in serum. So much it dripped when I was putting it on. When I took it off, my face just had so much serum on it I had to tissue it off. My face definitely felt moisturized but just too much serum, not sure I would want to use this one again, unless I was so dry I needed that much help.

Tried the Yadah Aloe for the Saturday meet up.

IMG_1012.jpg

Spoiler
This mask had a nice refreshing scent and the fit was not bad. Had a lot of serum but the philtrum area dried on me a little. Must be me. Either way it was an overall soothing mask. I was out in the sun earlier that day and wanted to soothe my skin. This is a nice filler mask to keep in the stash. It did stay slightly tacky on my skin so a little moisturizer to help with that and all was good.

For the PTR meet up, on Sunday morning I tried the Irish Moor, the 24K gold mask and the Skyn eye mask (I've used these before and love them). And Sunday evening, I tried the Cucumber mask.

IMG_1013.jpg

Spoiler
I multi-masked and used the mud mask on my T-Zone and U-Zone and used the 24K gold mask everywhere else. I really enjoyed the Irish Moor mud mask. This one didn't dry down hard and it was easy to wash off. Left my face feeling clean. The 24K gold mask was very pretty. I don't know if my face felt firmer but I think it gave it a little brightness. I would have to use it more to see if there are any real results with it. So I look forward to using the rest of the sample. The cucumber mask was nice and refreshing on my face. It did feel a little hydrated but I still felt the need to apply moisturizer. I think I want to try this cool and as an overnight mask.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Great heads up on the Lapcos mask @GalPalVal17 !  I'll be sure to pull it out of the package with as little serum as possible when I use mine!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I think that Milk mask was my gateway to DIY masks @GalPalVal17. SO much extra essence! I’m glad you were able to try it and that it didn’t cause any skin irritations.

Great idea to use the Cucumber mask as an overnight mask, I may have to try that this summer:)

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe No skin irritations is a great thing. I have used a milk serum type of mask before and enjoyed them. However, I think that I should wait til winter if i ever want to try this again with the amount of serum that this mask has.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

That’s a nice and strategic way to use the PTR masks @GalPalVal17. I’ve been wondering how to use the 24K one. That Lapcos Milk mask sounds like it would be good in the winter when skin tends to get really dry.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@GalPalVal17 I found the Yadah masks dried in the nose and philtrum area first while the outer edges still had serum but was able to wear them 30 minutes before the dryness was to the point I wanted to take it off. How long did you wear yours? I left my PTR at home so after vacation I must dig in! Nice masking!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@ShortErica  oh good it wasnt only me. I typically wear sheet masks about 20-30 mins. This one didnt dry right away but definitely was noticeably dry in that area. Didn't ruin the mask experience though because it was only that spot and the rest was just fine.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Know what would be awesome @GalPalVal17..having a mask with special material on the nose and philtrum that is slower drying than the rest of the mask. Or I guess we could use the extra serum in the package to give it a boost partway through wearing it.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@GalPalVal17  thanks for your reviews! I think I'll start to use my PTR masks more since I already know I like the Irish Moor mud mask.

Maybe the 24k gold mask could be effective if we use it constantly??

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Sodayui  That's what I'm thinking with the 24k mask. More use to see any results. But it sure is a pretty one to wear.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@GalPalVal17  Me with 24k gold mask on 😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Sounds like a pretty good round of masking, @GalPalVal17!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

IMG_8364.JPGLast night’s late night masking consisted of 2 of the masks from the PTR set I received as a gratis. One is a favorite of mine and the other is one that has been ‘meh’ for me in the past. Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask Enzymatic Dermal Resurfacer 5 oz is pumpkin pie in a tube (or jar if you have the FS), but without the calories. 😊 It sloughs away dead skin and leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth and looking clean and refreshed. This has been one of my favorites and continues to be so. Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber Gel Mask Extreme Detoxifying Hydrator 5 oz, on the other hand, is one I find to be just ‘meh’ – very much in the “it’s not you, it’s me” category. It’s not a bad mask; just doesn’t really standout for me. I decided to use it as an overnight mask as @PrettyPaint had used hers and I still find it ‘meh’ but it seems like my skin likes it better as an overnight mask and it does seem like it works better in the warmer months. I’ll try to remember to reach for it again when we’re in a heat wave and see how it fares under those conditions – I can see its cooling and hydrating effects working well coming out of the fridge when it gets really warm this summer.
