So glad to see a review on this @Shosh85 ! I've looked at them a few times but thought 10$ for one mask seemed a bit steep since I hadn't heard anything about them yet. I'll keep an eye out for a shoppers sale now!
@missjeanie At Target it's $10 for a box of 3. They don't have the option to buy in singles. 😉
Oh geez... I need to get to Target... I saw them at Shoppers here for about 10$ a single. Granted that's in Canadian...but still @Shosh85
yay thank you for reviewing this @Shosh85 ! I've been very curious to try these!
@Kim888 It took me a long time to finally try them! So far, so good! Planning on doing the "Glow" one soon. 😃👍
My last mask for the Letter O / Oozoo and Neogen week, and I went for a “do over” with the Lapcos mask. O is for Oil.
I wasn’t a huge fan of the Lapcos Skin First Oil Wrap Mask Sheet - 8 Flower Nectar the first time I used it – there was a lot of oil serum sitting on top of my face after removing the mask. I wondered whether my skin wasn’t in the best condition to use it, so I decided to give it another try, this time, after my face had been subjected to temperature changes with various trips and the different weather conditions and just being on several plane rides so it was parched and probably use both water and oil, and after prepping the skin to hopefully better absorb the oils from the sheet mask.
I started with the Ahava Mineral Mud Clearing Facial Treatment Mask. I was a little nervous this would be too drying for the drier parts of my face so for those areas, I applied a couple layers of a hydrating essence before applying the mud mask there. To my surprise, the Ahava Clearing Mask was not as harsh on my skin as I thought it would be – I didn’t experience any tightness and my skin did not feel stripped dry of moisture. It also did a nice job of clearing and cleansing my skin, particularly my T-zone and neck where I tend to be oilier and more prone to clogged pores. This is a nice one; I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite mud mask but I like it more than many of the ones I’ve tried in the past; it worked pretty well now and I can see that it could work really well in the warmest parts of the summer when I’m at my oiliest.
After rinsing off the mud mask in the shower, I went for the Lapcos Skin First Oil Wrap Mask Sheet - 8 Flower Nectar. The material on this mask is still not my favorite, but I made a few adjustments to the more ill-fitting areas and found myself warming up to the mask a little more than I did the first time I used it. I left it on for 30 minutes (directions recommend 10-20) and this time after I removed the mask, my face did not feel like it was trapped in a pool of oil, and it absorbed more quickly into my skin. I guess there’s something to be said about the right conditions. Overall, this go around with this oil mask was not bad. It’s still not my favorite oil mask but my feelings towards it have warmed a little.
I’m glad it worked better for you this time @itsfi 😊
Me too @faeriegirl! 🙂 It was also a good reminder that the right skin care prep plays a role in a good masking experience.
I'm glad the oil mask worked out better for you this go round @itsfi . It really does prove that we should be choosing the right masks for what we need at that time. And always a nice surprise when a mask you had low expectations for pulls through!
Well said @missjeanie! 🙂 I reach for hydrating masks most of the time (and they account for most of the masks in my stash) but I have to remember that I also need to focus on more moisturizing masks that work for the dry aspect of my dehydrated-combination skin.
@itsfi I think it's a great idea to use a mud mask before an oily one! I'm happy they both worked out better than expected! You are so right, the right conditions can make a big difference! 👍😉
@Shosh85, yes!! The mud mask + oil mask combo works well and I like that there are more mud masks on the market that don't dry out the skin.
@lmaster, I think my skin was better suited for the oils in the mask this time - it was definitely more dry and more dehydrated than it normally is at the time I used this one again. Would be interesting to see how you think this one compares to the other one you tried from the brand.
I'm very curious myself @itsfi I've seen a few others not too keen on this one, but I really enjoyed the one I tried so far
Week 15 - Apr 8 - 15 - O - The Oozoo Week
Happy to participate in the Monthly Masking Meetup! I still have to go through everyone else's thoughts though I spied @missjeanie's picture and had to comment since our minds tend to think alike.
I did the rose oozoo mask - surprise - since I didn't already lead with this.
This mask was gifted to me by the lovely @eshoe. I wonder if the post-it note holds true still.
I popped the capsule and massaged the package as directed. Not sure if I like or dislike this gimmick. Part of me likes participating and part of me wonders if the mask soaking the serum is better. When I opened the package I noticed the serum was very milky. I don't know if I've done any with a milky serum. My memory is only thinking about clear serum. There was lots of serum in the packet.
It fit nicely. My face:
I could have done with a little more coverage by the nose and there was excess to fold under the chin but good fitting mask - check check!
The mask had a distinct rose scent. I found it to be real (like I am around real roses on the regular 🤷) and not a fake off-putting overload of perfume. I could smell it during masking but it wasn't overwhelming for me.
I wore it probably 40 minutes. I could have left it on even longer. I patted the rest of the serum in. Later I found more serum that hadn't fully absorbed and patted again. My skin looked brighter. It also maybe looked more even and plump. I had a facial in the afternoon so I'm hoping this also contributed to having a good skin evening but who knows what did what exactly.
Right before bed I put the extra serum on my face, neck, and hands. I'm wondering whether I should save serum in extra jars I have and use it on another night (since I tend to mask once or twice a week at most). Curious if it's more beneficial to soak my skin in serum on one evening or do two doses on different nights. Anyone have some insight?
I would rate it an A-. It had a good fit, good results, great lasting power, and my only gripe is the scent. I wasn't bothered about it but personal preference is no to little fragrance. It's a "it's not you, it's me" complaint since a rose mask should probably smell like rose.
Now to read what everyone else thought. 🙂
Thanks @lmaster - I'll have to be on the lookout and also check what I currently have for those ingredients. 🙂
That is weird that both you and @eshoe have had inconsistent scent experiences with this mask. I'm glad this mask was a positive start for the Monthly Masking Meetup! 🙂
Ugh I am seriously wondering about the scent @ShortErica. The first two I tried (months apart) were noticeably rose-scented. This time, fruity-candy.
Did you try the Royal Jelly as well? Curious to know what you would think of that one.
