Hello lovely masking mavens! We have finally outgrown the original thread started by the wonderful @Aaliaa and are beginning another masking journey. Many, many thanks to her and excited you are here. Posting/original thread:

Spoiler
Posting: Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

I'm very curious myself @itsfi I've seen a few others not too keen on this one, but I really enjoyed the one I tried so far

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Week 15 - Apr 8 - 15 - O - The Oozoo Week

Happy to participate in the Monthly Masking Meetup! I still have to go through everyone else's thoughts though I spied @missjeanie's picture and had to comment since our minds tend to think alike.

I did the rose oozoo mask - surprise - since I didn't already lead with this.

20190413_210125.jpg20190413_210136.jpg

This mask was gifted to me by the lovely @eshoe. I wonder if the post-it note holds true still.

I popped the capsule and massaged the package as directed. Not sure if I like or dislike this gimmick. Part of me likes participating and part of me wonders if the mask soaking the serum is better. When I opened the package I noticed the serum was very milky. I don't know if I've done any with a milky serum. My memory is only thinking about clear serum. There was lots of serum in the packet.

It fit nicely. My face:

Spoiler

I could have done with a little more coverage by the nose and there was excess to fold under the chin but good fitting mask - check check!

The mask had a distinct rose scent. I found it to be real (like I am around real roses on the regular 🤷) and not a fake off-putting overload of perfume. I could smell it during masking but it wasn't overwhelming for me.

I wore it probably 40 minutes. I could have left it on even longer. I patted the rest of the serum in. Later I found more serum that hadn't fully absorbed and patted again. My skin looked brighter. It also maybe looked more even and plump. I had a facial in the afternoon so I'm hoping this also contributed to having a good skin evening but who knows what did what exactly.

Right before bed I put the extra serum on my face, neck, and hands. I'm wondering whether I should save serum in extra jars I have and use it on another night (since I tend to mask once or twice a week at most). Curious if it's more beneficial to soak my skin in serum on one evening or do two doses on different nights. Anyone have some insight?

I would rate it an A-. It had a good fit, good results, great lasting power, and my only gripe is the scent. I wasn't bothered about it but personal preference is no to little fragrance. It's a "it's not you, it's me" complaint since a rose mask should probably smell like rose.

Now to read what everyone else thought. Smiley Happy

@ShortErica the farmacy mask that @itsfi reviewed has a cooling sensation, also the creme shop peppermint oil also has a cooling sensation. I think masks that contain menthol or mint will definitely have that sensation, but the tonymoly orange mask I used recently also had that cooling sensation

Re: @ShortErica the farmacy mask that @itsfi reviewed has a c...

Thanks @lmaster - I'll have to be on the lookout and also check what I currently have for those ingredients. Smiley Happy

this looks about what mine did @ShortErica however, this particular mask I used, I could barely smell any hint of roses! I was bummed about that because I know on the past this one did always smell more fragrant to me

Re: this looks about what mine did @ShortErica however, this...

That is weird that both you and @eshoe have had inconsistent scent experiences with this mask. I'm glad this mask was a positive start for the Monthly Masking Meetup! Smiley Happy

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Ugh I am seriously wondering about the scent @ShortErica. The first two I tried (months apart) were noticeably rose-scented. This time, fruity-candy.

Did you try the Royal Jelly as well? Curious to know what you would think of that one.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

That is very interesting about the difference in scent @eshoe. Any idea of if it was closer to expiration or any other factors that could make it different (storage, maybe)? I didn't get candy smell with mine.

I haven't tried the royal jelly. But based on @itsfi@Shosh85 and @faeriegirl's reviews, I'm guessing I'd probably prefer it too. Though..have I even tried a honey mask yet? I saw a 10 pack at Marshall's I really considered picking up but it had both alcohol and fragrance fairly high in the ingredient list so I passed on it.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

This was brand new, @ShortErica and expires in 2020. It wasn’t bad, just not what I was expecting🤷🏻‍♀️

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Very strange @eshoe. I need to figure out my P mask and get on it. Hope you have some good ones lined up.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I do, @ShortErica! And I did so many masks last week I just haven’t had time to post about them😄 I’ve got quite a few for trhis week, ended up using 2 sheet masks tonight bc I found methyparaben in the first one after I put it on, and I try to avoid that. So annoyed, it seemed to be a very promising mask.  But the one I have on now is 👍🏼!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@ShortErica, in terms of using the extra serum, I think it depends on your skin and your routine - sometimes it's just not helpful to pat in more serum onto the skin. Some days I will save the extra serum but use it the next morning in the essence step of my routine - I tend to do that with a serum that has niacinamide or other brightening ingredients in it. Otherwise, I just slather it on my arms and legs.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi I think I may try to save serum to use the next morning. And if I get too lazy to do that, expanding to beyond my face, neck, and hands will be the way to go. Thanks for the suggestions!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@ShortErica I'm glad it was a pleasant experience for you! I don't have much insight about the extra serum – since I mask daily it's hard to save a bunch of serum, so I just usually use it all up rubbing it all over me. My dry skin especially likes the milky-ness of this one. 😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85 after my mining trip I had a dry patch on my arm that loved getting the extra serum! I think I need to expand serum from just face, neck, hands to more of my body. Smiley Wink

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@ShortErica Mining?! ⛏ That sounds fun!

I always just cover my body with as much extra serum is left in the pouch. 👍😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@ShortEricaThis one really did fit rather nicely for you!  Sometimes if there's a lot of extra serum I'll either 1. Rub it all over my body (hey... my butt needs some toning.. probably more than my face?). 2. Rub an extra layer into my face after I remove the mask/a couple times before bed. or 3. Keep it sitting in the packet in the fridge until the next morning when I rub it all over my body because I already had lotion on or was too tired the night before.  I never thought of decanting the serum.  I'm curious to hear what others think though.

Did you end up liking the milky/cremyness of the serum?

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

😂 butt toning...now I will have to try that @missjeanie!

I think the milky serum was enjoyable. I probably am just accustomed to clear serum so I'd want to give other masks with milky serum a shot before determining if I have a preference.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I’m glad you liked it @ShortErica. It does fit great😊

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Me too @faeriegirl. And I appreciated a general consensus for those who tried it - lots of serum, rose scent, good fit seemed common. Smiley Happy
