oooh yay @eshoe that sheet mask sounds amazing I can't wait to try it!
Facetory has been a little hit or miss for me lately @Kim888, I knew when I saw the Neogen one I would try it first. So happy it did not disappoint! Would be perfect for someone who doesn’t care for the strong rose scent of The Oozoo Mask.
Yesterday, to close out the week, I went with an Irish brand for my St. Patrick’s Day masks. Primark is an Irish retailer founded in 1969 in Dublin. These masks are made in Korea which fits in the letter of the week (“K”) theme.
I received a host of treats from @SpaceLlama (thank you!) a while back and I’ve been working through the lovely masks she generously gifted me and was interested in trying these masks. The nail treatment is a nice one and I’ve talked about it before so I’ll just focus on the two face masks. Both are bubbling / foaming masks – one is a sheet mask (the greyish blue packet) and the other is a wash off mask. When it comes to foaming masks, my preference is usually for the wash off version but was interested in seeing if that would remain the case with these two Primark masks. I used the sheet mask in Sunday morning and the wash off in the evening.
Primark PS Shine Bright K*Pop Sheet Mask is a charcoal foaming mask. It adhered well and in terms of fit, I only had to make a single adjustment – to the chin; as is typical of sheet masks, this one was too long for my face, but that’s what my mini scissors are for, right?! 🙂 I was surprised and happy that I did not need to make adjustments for the inner corner of the eyes / bridge of the nose. There’s a fresh and clean, but slightly soap-ish scent to this one. It’s not a bad scent, but it’s also not a scent where you want to smell more of it, which works out fine as it all but disappears by the time you put on the mask. The foaming or bubbling up on this sheet mask is very soft, gentle and quiet; you can barely hear it. The best part for me was that it did not run in or near my eyes. Yes! I left the mask on for 20 minutes as directed and after removing and washing off the mask, my skin looked cleansed, clear, smooth and brighter. As far as bubbling/foaming sheet masks that cover the entire face, they’re definitely not my favorite kind of sheet masks, but this mask would be the one I choose, if I were to have to choose one. I’m not sure what to rate this one, maybe a “B+/B”?
Primark PS Brightening Foaming Bubble Mask is not like your typical wash off foaming masks. I assumed (incorrectly) that it would be similar to the GlamGlow InstaMud, bliss Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Foaming Mask, and the belif Pore Cleaner Bubble Foam. Oh no. Not like those at all. When the mask first comes out of the packet, it reminds me of a milky, slightly thicker and more gooey version of the Glossier Jelly Cleanser. It applies pretty smoothly and begins foaming up immediately. When the other foaming masks I’ve tried foam up, it is a light, airy foam and dries down a bit. This one, however, is a thicker, bouncy creamy foam and, to me, it resembles a cross between shaving cream and a marshmallow spread. Per the directions, I left the mask on for 20 minutes and then washed off the mask. Most foaming masks wash off very easily and quickly. This one, because of its thicker texture takes some more effort to remove and rinse off. In hindsight, if I used this mask again, I’d take a cotton round to remove most of the mask, then wipe the residue away with a cleansing wipe and/or warm washcloth. My skin felt tacky even after I used a washcloth to remove and there’s a filmy residue. It went away after I used the washcloth a couple more times, but just to be safe, I used a light, gentle cleanser to make sure I got everything. It’s a little more work than I expected but not too terrible and I like the results – smooth, clear, cleansed skin. My pores looked more clear and my complexion looked awake, refreshed, and bright; it felt slightly hydrated but I wouldn’t recommend skipping moisturizer. Of these two foaming masks, I’d pick this brightening one; I’d give it an “A-”.
I forgot about the Sephora bubble mask @lmaster. That’s a good one too. I think my favorite is the bubble sheet mask from TonyMoly. I put a pic of it a couple of posts down. I sometimes find it at Ulta and will pick one up.
Oh thanks! @itsfi I'll have to look for it now, I definitely want to try it
@itsfi Another great theme! ☘️ As far as bubble/foaming masks go, these both sound pretty great! It's nice that the sheet mask one didn't run into your eyes! That definitely is a common occurrence with these! I have to say though, I think my favorite sheet mask version are the ones that start below the eyes - like the Berrisom ones.
The Freeman Gel Bubble wash-off mask sounds a lot like the Primark Brightening one – it looked like I had shaving cream on my face! I don't recall having a lot of filmy residue though. I think I do prefer the foam as opposed to the bubbles. Do you have a favorite foam/bubble mask?
@Shosh85, for wash off bubble/foaming mask, I like the GLAMGLOW - INSTAMUD™ 60 Second Pore-Remining Treatment Mask
or the bliss Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Foaming Mask. For sheet mask, I’m completely with you - the ones that start below the eyes are the one I like best. I don’t know if I’ve tried the Berrisom one but I like the TonyMoly one.
@itsfi I haven't tried the Tony Moly one! Looks good! 🙌
@itsfiI love the St. Patrick's Day tie in! Sometimes its good for us to take a step out of our comfort zone and try out masks that we initially don't have a ton of interest in, glad to see you have the bubbles a good shot!
Thank you @missjeanie! 💚 I’m glad I did some research on the company; I might have otherwise missed the tie in to St Patrick’s Day. 🍀
both sound very interesting @itsfi - America needs to hop on the Primemark train haha. I know they've opened a few here but everyone I know from Ireland/United Kingdom is obsessed with Primemark. Apparently they have the best tights as well haha
So agree @Kim888! For a split second, Nordstrom carried a few Primark beauty items but not the sheet masks. 😞 I did not know about their tights, but I've jotted that down next to my notes on Primark masks. 🙂 It would be so great if they had a few stores throughout the US, whether as standalone stores or in a partnership with a department store, like Nordstrom or another store.
The Brightening Foaming mask sounds so good, @itsfi! I'll admit I was pulling for the adorable K*Pop one, though 😉 Nice to hear the essence was so pleasant, and the effects of it on your skin. @SpaceLlama sent some fun masks your way!
Yes @eshoe; @SpaceLlama is very sweet and thoughtful. 🙂 The packaging for both the sheet mask and the wash off are cute, slight edge to the sheet mask; but it's all about the performance for me; and the wash-off brightening one is not like other foaming masks I've used so I really like that it's unique like that. Hard to go wrong with either mask though.
Friday I tried the Consonant DHE Mask that I received as a gratis! You can read my review on @Samtian ‘s thread about the gratis items that we ( along with other BIC members ) received. However since I live in Canada, I didn’t receive the new version of the Flowerbomb but the Consonant DHE Mask instead which is even better since I don’t enjoy floral fragrances! Grade A+
@keana1 This sounds like a great one! So happy you enjoyed it! Yay for an A+!
Thanks @Shosh85! I was impressed by it even though it dries down before rinsing !
Can I be jealous I'm not from Canada and didn't get this product? I'm so happy you received it @keana1 and it works for you. Yay A+!
