2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hello lovely masking mavens! We have outgrown the original thread started by the wonderful @Aaliaa and are beginning another masking journey. Many thanks to her and excited you are here. To post:

Posting: Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Letter of the Week Ideas for “U”

Ursa Major

Survey Results: @missjeanie wanted to know all about your mask collection. The results are in: You all are funny 😆

Do you have an ideal size collection, or are you working towards a more curated selection of masks?

  • I'm satisfied with my stash!
  • not too worried about amount, working towards a variety
  • No idea collection, just buy them as I see them
  • Curated. I want to be able to have whatever my skin needs on hand.
  • Working toward what works best.
  • I usually buy a selection of masks every three months and aim to spend no more than $100 each time. Ultimately my selection will largely consist of the really good ones from previous experiences.
  • I guess it depends on your definition of "ideal" Hundreds of sheet masks are ideal to me 😂
  • Would love to ultimately have a sheet mask collection around 150, and wash offs around 20. But there are just too many new ones to buy!
  • I have enough overnight masks to last until 2020 ! I wish I had more sheet masks but I’m taking notes for future purchases!
  • Definitely trying to curate
  • I feel like I'm in a continual state of paring down my sheet mask collection... I seem to do better at growing it than shrinking it. hahaha!
  • I think I have too many. Haha

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi Yeah, I'm guessing I should've stopped at 20. I did forget I was wearing it for a moment. 😂 but I also did the blueberry one from this same line and wore it for a half hour, so it seems like the timing might be inconsistent with these. It could also be that my skin was just more thirsty this time around. I think I'll be trying the blueberry one again soon and see how long I wear it this time. Still a pretty decent mask! 😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85 I've found with these masks (the Leaders bio ones as well as the Farmacy ones) I have to be careful to remove them at the time stated on the package. Otherwise it feels like a mini peel which is not the game I want to play Smiley Very Happy

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe I did kind of forget about the mask for a bit because of the kiddos, but the package did say 20-25 and I did 25. I'm guessing I probably should've stopped at 20. At least it wasn't so dry that I had to do a painful peel – but that has happened before! 😂

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Not really in the theme again. Tried out two new to me Heimish products. The first is the Heimish Black Tea Mask Pack - This is a wash off mask that's supposed to sooth, hydrate, cool and depuff. The mask is super creamy and easy to apply and has a light tea like scent. It felt cooling while on but not tingly. Easy to wash off. I would give this an A-, my skin felt refreshed after use but not particularly hydrated. I also tried out Heimish Low PH hydrating sheet mask - this mask has very creamy serum inside and was well saturated- the fit was a bit odd, it was like everything was just off slightly which made it kind of weird. No way to for me to know if it "restored my skin to it's perfect ph" but my skin felt very hydrated after and was not tacky at all- I would give it an A.

I also used the Belborn Intensive Bounce Ampul Mask. This mask was was on the thinner side but very well saturated and there was a ton of extra product in the pack. It was super hydrating - my skin felt really nice and plumped after! It was super saturated so it did take longer than normal for the serum to absorb I would say. I would give it an A.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Kim888 Glad to hear you got such great results from both masks! I haven't heard anything negative about the Heimish brand yet! I'll definitely to explore it a little more!👍

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Ooooh, love the results you got from these masks @Kim888! I like the Heimish pH 5.5 mask - my skin does feel oh so hydrated afterwards. I'm pretty sure your masks fit within the letter K portion of the week's challenge theme - all 3 masks are Korean masks / Kbeauty.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi  lol I need to be more creative with my labeling to get within the challenge! All my brain kept thinking of was I'm using them and my name starts with K

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

💗 it @Kim888 @itsfi 😄!!!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

That works too @Kim888! “K” is for Kim888 masking! 😉❤️

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Nice masking, @Kim888! The Belborn sounds interesting, I've never heard of that brand but it sounds like one that I should seek out. Thanks for sharing your notes on these Smiley Happy

@Kim888 nice!! these sound superb 😍

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

A little AM masking with a fun Etude House Cheek mask Smiley Happy

etude.jpgSephora, Skyn Iceland, Etude House & June Jacobs

The SEPHORA COLLECTION - Lip Balm & Scrub,Skyn and June Jacobs are all go-to's for me and all A's. The Etude House Calming Cheek Patch looks like a mask just made for me; my cheeks tend to be so dry, that they need a little bit of extra love. When I use clay mask, I often use a soothing mask on my cheeks. This combo (the eye and cheek masks) is one I've been waiting to try, and it did not disappoint.
I don't think I've seen a cuter mask. One little Gudatema-esque gel patch greeted me, when I removed the plastic insert. I was afraid I received a packet with only one after trying to separate it, but it had slipped off into the package when I opened it. Both had a nice amount of serum on them. It wasn't a cream-gel in my mind, as the package states, but more of a clear essence. Not overbearing, just right. There was the faintest of faint sheet mask scents, which quickly faded and left me with two very cute cheek patches clinging to my cheeks. After a good 20 minutes or so, I removed and my cheeks were nicely hydrated, my under eyes were a bit brighter - it was a very nice base for applying my makeup.

I would absolutely love to use this every morning; however carrageen is an ingredient I avoid in my diet, so for that reason I wouldn't. However, using them gave me the idea to use some eye gels (like the ones that come in the little jars; hydrogel and full of essence) for my cheeks as an easy makeup prep. My blush can get patchy when my cheeks are too dry, and this is the perfect solution! The Etude House Calming Cheek patches were fun and I would absolutely buy them again as a little treat to myself Smiley Happy

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe Those cheek patches do sound fun and are super cute! I have the "Laugh Lines" one that I'll be trying for "L" week! I mainly only got it because the cat on the package is cute – and I've also just never seen this type of mask before! 😂

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Oh I saw those @Shosh85! I haven’t tried the Etude House ones, but did use the Skyn Iceland ones. They wouldn’t stay put unless I didn’t talk/eat/drink. That’s a long 20 minutes 😄

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

How adorable are those Etude House cheek masks @eshoe?!! Smiley Happy Love that they are specifically geared for the cheeks; mine, like yours, have a tendency to get really dry, especially in the winter. These sound like the perfect answer to that.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Aren’t they the cutest @itsfi 🥰 I think they would be great for someone who is sheet-mask adverse!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe,  agree w/ everyone's adjectives!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

You’re funny! @byme4u 😄

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

How adorable @eshoe !  I say go for it with eye masks!  Who says they're just for eyes?

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I know, @missjeanie! I am going to look for an inexpensive eye gel like that, because when you put 2 together, it masks a nice little circle and would probably be just the right size. This board is SO not helpful for a low buy Smiley Wink

those cheek patches are so flipping cute @eshoe 😊
