Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Mask Hacks - Here are a few to get started thanks to our lovely BIC-ers, a big thank you for these fabulous ideas!

Trim off long chin and add to forehead for sheet masks	itsfi
Squeeze tube lip balms (like Bite) into pans and place in magnetic palette	sonnydee
Layer lip sleeping mask (such as Laneige) over regular balm	cianni
Derma plane prior to a peel-off mask to ease the pain of removal	heartsmyface
Warm water helps remove clay masks quicker than cold	cianni
Lay sheet masks flat prior to use so the serum is more evenly distributed	eshoe

@Kim888, oh dear, if that peel off mask is more painful than the boscia one, I'm definitely going to have pass on that one. Me and pain don't get along very well. LOL! Those Heimish eye gels sound great, as does that AmorePacific mask!

@Kim888  Awwww, pain is no good.  I like to tell myself that I am peeling off my old face and a new smoother one is going to grow back when it really hurts.  Haha, it’s partially true!  Better yet just to avoid painful masks.  Maybe a soothing one is in order for tomorrow?

@lmaster it is the first time! I got it because I got a mini of the sunday riley retinol in allure and really liked it! The box is like half the cost of the single product so even if I hated everything else, which I don't, it would still be a good deal. I think they have a history of being rather inconsistent if memory serves from reading people talking about it - looking at the Jan box I don't think it looked that great but Nov 2018 looked interesting. Box is every other month -I'll wait for spoilers before deciding whether to keep it.

I'm curious about toner and thought this might be the place to ask. I see it as part of directions for many masks. I always cleanse before using a mask but toner isn't a staple in my skincare. Just wondering if you think toner is a must before a face mask or have you seen it make a difference. Thanks!

Yes @eshoe! The masking thread is full of so many knowledgeable people and I love learning from their experiences. I think I have a foil of the SON & PARK - Beauty Water so I will have to try it out before a mask sometime. And that will get me started with participating in the foils challenge too! I'm really slacking on it. Another day, another product I'm forgetting to use 😂. I feel like I really don't have too much but then I can't keep track of it even with a spreadsheet sometimes.

I see toners as a ph balance neutralizer.  If your skin feels fine (and not oily or dry and right) after washing your face then they’re unnecessary.  I do use a toner but it’s more just a part of the skincare ritual and not because I feel it’s necessary.  @ShortErica

I appreciate this @byme4u. I try to be thorough with my cleansing. I don't mind adding a step but sometimes simple is easier and just as good.

@ShortErica I don't use a toner all the time before sheet masks, but I use a couple toners everyday. I have one that's anti aging, one that's hydrating and one that's balancing. I think it just says that bc it's telling you the order in which the sheet mask would be applied.
