ARCHIVE - 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hello lovely masking mavens! Please continue posting on the Q4 Thread which can be found here:

Spoiler

Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Spoiler
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

@missjeanie ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜‹

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85could you imagine some frozen yogurt on top of this samich???? MMMMMMMMMMMM sooooo good!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@missjeanie That sounds so scrumptious! ๐Ÿฏ๐Ÿฅœ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿฆ

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

That looks so yummy and it's so easy to make, too! *especially for someone with a sweet tooth, like me*. <333

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@PenelopeBT  It is soo good! I have a major sweet tooth too... and I'm a dental assistant ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿญ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿซ

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I'm really hungry and this looks really good @Shosh85 ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe I like to lightly toast the bread first too! It's a great mid morning snack! (Who am I kidding, it's a great anytime snack ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜†)

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Tomorrow is national Toast Day ๐Ÿ˜„ @Shosh85

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe Perfect! I guess I know what I'm eating tomorrow ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿž๐Ÿฏ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿฅœ

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Ohhhh, that looks soooo tasty! ๐Ÿ˜‹ @Shosh85 @missjeanie

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85  I was just saying that this week has had a lot less cravings talked about with all the gross ingredients, but now I'm craving honey, banana and peanut butter on a slice of bread.  When we were little kids my mom would let us have it as a treat sometimes and as weird as I think it is now... I still love it every few years!  Sounds like a pretty sweet masking session you got to have today!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@missjeanie I literally just had a honey, peanut butter and banana sandwich the other day! Haha! It is seriously one of my favorites ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿฏ๐ŸŒ This mask is one my favorites as well ๐Ÿ˜‰ I've repurchased, and used this one a few times already ๐Ÿ‘

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Spoiler
In keeping with the โ€œletโ€™s see how many gross masks my skin likesโ€ theme that this week seems to be turning into for me (hahaha!), I reached for My Beauty Diary Imperial Birdโ€™s Nest Sheet Mask. My Beauty Diary (MBD) is a Taiwanese brand and their sheet masks are quite popular. I picked up a variety pack when I was on vacation a while back, from a store that sold crepes as well as Asian snacks and skincare products.

For those who donโ€™t know what birdโ€™s nest is made of, check out the spoiler below (but word of caution, maybe check it out on an empty stomach and ask yourself beforehand if you really want to know).  I think Iโ€™ve used this mask before, but it had different packaging. Like other MBD masks, this one is made of cotton, has the same thickness and fit of most sheet masks, and has a very subtle signature sheet mask scent if you put your nose to the mask or the open packet but which is otherwise unnoticeable (and which you canโ€™t smell when youโ€™re wearing the sheet mask).  A few snips at the chin/jawline and corners of the eyes and mouth and I was good to go about my business for the recommended half hour while the sheet mask work its magic. And, work its magic it did! Oooh. My skin is noticeably brighter and bouncier and it feels moisturized too. The results earn the mask an โ€œAโ€ but I will not repurchase this particular mask. Mine is a personal decision, with a significant factor being the endangered status of the swiftlets whose nests are used. I read that there are some suppliers of swiftlet nests that harvest the nests in a sustainable manner but I donโ€™t know which brands use those suppliers and I don't know what is involved in the processing.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

...and another GGM @itsfi, no surprises here! I do understand your decision, I think even when supply chains are monitored for the most part, there are going to be gaps. I am with you on this one! I do wonder about this phenomenon with gross masks being so great for our skin, though. I would ALMOST try another placenta mask, if I had to choose;)

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@eshoe, this week definitely opened my eyes to some new masks. lol! ๐Ÿ™‚ My skin has always responded well to snail products so that wasn't new, but caviar, bee venom, placenta, etc., etc. All of the "gross" ingredients I used this week have been good for my skin, which was a complete surprise. Did not see that coming at all!! In fact, I had a handful of aloe mask, hyaluronic acid mask and honey masks lined up for this week, ready to use to soothe any negative reaction I thought I might experience from these gross masks - I haven't had to use any of those masks for that reason. I'll use up most, if not all, of the 'gross' masks in my stash (other than snail masks) by the end of this week. Some will definitely be repurchases after I've used up most of my current masks, and some ingredients I want to do additional research before deciding whether to repurchase. Lots of learning this week. ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Yes, @itsfi - I almost hesitate to say this, but I think itโ€™s been my favorite week so far this year! Iโ€™m going to a family gathering this afternoon and my first thought was how well that placenta mask worked and maybe I should use it? (I wonโ€™t, my stomachโ€™s just not strong enough๐Ÿ˜‰) But it was so much fun, love everyoneโ€™s masks this week!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi Oh darn! I'm pretty sure I just ordered this one. I ordered a little bundle of masks from line the other day, and I believe this is one of them... I'm so sad now๐Ÿ˜ฅ I'm happy to hear the results were great and the mask wasn't a waste. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Itโ€™s just this one @Shosh85. I think we say that you never read my post when you use it. Yeah? Yeah!!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

hmm.... well this is on the gross scale for sure!  I think I'd probably try this as it's not too gross for me... but I completely understand your decision not to do so again.  I'd hope there's sustainable ways to collect the nests, but like you said... how do you know which masks use which methods?

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

hahaha @missjeanie, the gross scale! ๐Ÿ™‚ Before this week, I'd never imagine how many masks we could put on that scale. lol! ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfiI feel like masks on the scale two weeks ago may not even be on it anymore! lol
