Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Mask Hacks - Here are a few to get started thanks to our lovely BIC-ers, a big thank you for these fabulous ideas!

Trim off long chin and add to forehead for sheet masks	itsfi
Squeeze tube lip balms (like Bite) into pans and place in magnetic palette	sonnydee
Layer lip sleeping mask (such as Laneige) over regular balm	cianni
Derma plane prior to a peel-off mask to ease the pain of removal	heartsmyface

Since it’s Gross Week, yesterday I tried the JMsolution Lacto Saccharomyces Golden Rice Mask. This mask is made out of Tencel so the fit was pretty good except that it was a little too wide but all Korean sheet masks are too round for my oval face so I didn’t bother to trim the sides. Saccharomyces is a yeast, the most common strain that’s known is Brewer’s Yeast. You have to fold the bottom part in order to mix both serums prior to application. The gross part is that it smelled like beer ( I don’t like beer 🤢 ), so I left it on for 2 hours because I feel asleep with it on ! It also contains mineral oil which can block pores, different varieties of hyaluronic and, some peptides, collagen, some fermented rice + other fermented ingredients. Surprisingly enough, after removal my skin was moisturized and plump. I just added the DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro™ Whipped Cream 

on top for extra moisture. I decided to smell the pouch the next day, it didn’t have a beer-like fragrance but smelled like Sake! GROSS! Grade ( if you don’t take into account the awful smell ) B . Won’t be purchasing another one!

This is interesting @keana1 .  I don't mind the scent of beer (not as a perfume, but I could deal with it in a mask), and I actually work casually pouring beer for a local brewery, I was thinking of doing a beer in my hair rinse like @heartsmyface mentioned below soon, I wonder if any of the straight mash would make a DIY wash off mask?  Hmmm... you've got me thinking now!

Too bad the scent was not for you, at least you were nicely moisturized!

I think that the mash mixed with hyaluronic acid or any hydrating ingredients would be great for a DIY mask @missjeanie ! If you find that the smell of beer is fine, then you should definitely try it. The mash probably contains some Saccharomyces which is a wonderful ingredient to use! Go for it! Beer is also great for hair ( I read this somewhere, but I don’t remember the source since it was a long time ago ) ! I’m so eager to see what you come up with! 🧐

I'm good to see you reviewed this one @keana1 I have this and have been putting off using it,, probably a good thing because I don't need clogged pores

If you tend to have blocked pores you might want to avoid using this one @lmaster ! When I bought it, I couldn’t read the ingredients list ( the letters were too small ! ) had I been able to read the list, I would have left it in the store! Mineral oil is a no-go for me! I avoid products that contain this ingredient! 🚫

I have this one in my stash @keana1. Who knew I’d have all these masks for “gross” week already in my collection?!! Not so fond of mineral oil in my sheet mask. The results sound great though!

I’m not fond of mineral oil either @itsfi ! Be prepared for the beer/sake smell, you should rinse off the serum once you’ve finished using it, if you don’t your moisturizer won’t absorb into your skin! 🍺🍶 yuck!

I’m glad I don’t have this one in my stash @keana1 😂 I doesn't sound pleasant on any level but the results, and there are about a million other masks out there that likely perform just as well! Sorry for the unpleasant experience but thanks for taking one for the team😉

Anytime @eshoe ! I’m willing to try other gross masks for this thread, but I think that was the only gross mask that I had! I went through my small stash ( small relatively to other maskers ), all the other masks, including the ones with snail mucin, aren’t gross!

Oh I have this one in my stash!!!  It smells like beer?  Eewwww.  I don’t like beer!  I did use beer in my hair once trying to lighten it in the summer and was able to tolerate that so maybe it might be okay.  Moisturized and plump sounds good to me!!! @keana1

Despite the beer/sake smell it did give good results @heartsmyface ! Don’t throw it away, the smell doesn’t last too long! You can always rinse the serum off afterwards since it contains mineral oil, before applying your favorite moisturizer!

Oh my gosh these Haruharu hydrating high kick sheet masks are amazing!!!  They smell lightly of sweet citrus, the mask conforms completely to your face and the serum is like a thin gel that dries down slightly tacky but not tacky.  My skin feels super plump and bouncy.   I am in love!  I read up on maqui berries and they are known for their antioxidants.  The holo anime graphic on these masks is darn adorable as well!  I have a few more of four different varieties of this brand but I have to go see if I can get more.

@heartsmyfacegreat fit indeed!  The scent on this sounds amazing!  Isn't it a nice surprise when you buy something for the packaging and it turns out the product itself is so worth it!  Hope you can find more!
