Let's keep this thread on topic!
Ulta points refresher (because yes, it is that complicated):
Item #1 - $53.50
Item #3 - $108.50 (and is eligible for a certain item/brand 5x multiplier)
* There is also a 5x all purchase multiplier and you are platinum so you get 1.25x
Total Spent - $162
Base Points Earned - 162
Platinum .25x Earned - 41 (162 * .25 = 40.5, and rounding up)
5x All Purchases Earned - 648 (it ends up being 4x because you don't count the base points)
5x Item/Brand Earned - 434
Total Points Earned - 1285
Links are not allowed. In lieu of links, please read this:
Please add product id numbers and sku numbers so people can find items on ulta.
Just to clarify, there is an item number that Ulta lists on the website, right under the picture of the item.
The product id is the number given to the item in the URL. So Ulta's site follows this formula of having the url and then the very last part of the url is "productId=xlsImpprod" followed by an 8 digit number. If you use that "productId" number you can get to the page of any item on ulta.
It's not a search, but the direct url to the page.
Click on any product, and then view the url in the address bar. It will look like this: ulta's website (not using the actual domain because BT admins don't like that) /prep-prime-fix?productId=xlsImpprod15921204 Replace the 8 digit product id of the item you want to see with the id of the product you're looking for.
My very unofficial Ulta point multiplier to approximate percent discount chart:
(This is a number where I use the multiplier to divide by 2000 to see how many dollars I would have to spend in order to redeem a $125 reward. E.g. 2000 points divided by 1 point multiplier means I have to spend $2000 to get the $125 reward. Adding how much I had to spend ($2000) + the reward ($125), and then using the reward ($125) to divide the total purchase ($2125), I get a discount of approximately 6% based on the total purchase. Note: the total purchase is based on the concept that you are spending just enough to reach the next $125 reward and combines the reward value with how much money you had to spend to get that reward.
Multiplier | 1 | 1.25 | 1.5 | 2 | 2.25 | 2.5 | 3 | 3.25 | 3.5 | 4 | 4.25 | 4.5 | 5 | 7.25 | 7.5 | 8 | 8.25 | 8.5 | 9 | 9.25 | 9.5 | 10 | 10.25 | 10.5 |

@Ispend2much6 Thank you for the clarification. A few people were commenting on another forum that they were also able to get the beauty bag for around $80 on stuff that wasn't included as Platinum Perks. Hey, it's a glitch so I suppose that there's no hard fast rules but just the "luck of the draw."
CoverFX isn't actually working off retail; the cart is picking up sale price on it, which is why you still had to reach $160, @maxima.
Alterna is working off retail price, as is Stila and the IT brushes (if they're even still in stock...one was gone last I checked earlier today). L'ange is OOS so I can't test it. I didn't try the rest of the men's stuff, but as mentioned earlier, Billy Jealousy is working off sale price, sadly. It just takes a bit of trial and error.. testing one brand exclusively at a time is the quickest way to tell.
A couple of example carts:
ETA: as far as folks getting a bag free with a cart under $160, yes, it's absolutely possible. The "glitch" here isn't necessarily related to Platinum deals, but to sale items. BOGO, bogo50, b2g1...these types of discount deals are what to look for and try. Sometimes the cart reads retail prices, sometimes sale prices...no clue why it can vary, but it just takes a little testing to figure out what works. Rituals shower foam was one example discussed earlier in this thread as working off of retail price even though they are bogo, allowing totals well under $160 for the bag.
@RGbrown Oh snap, I think you cracked the code! You're definitely right about the system capturing sale prices. Not sure if you remember that back during February's Platinum Perk, the free promos counted towards the spending threshold. I work nights and get up late, so I'm always mindful of submitting my order before sale and promo items go OOS. Ulta emails start going out around 5 a.m. C.S.T., so some people have a bit more time to "play around" before placing an order. I may be wrong, but it also seems like the system's "hiccups" always occur early and seem to get fixed after a few hours.
Billy Jealousy isn't, at least not the beard oil, as far as I can tell ☹️
@RGbrown You're right; I was playing around with the Super Slick Shaving Cream, but I just checked again and it doesn't count.
I had some points to unload and the Nars was 5x. I recently ran out of concealers and I was going to buy these during the last sale but the 20% off coupon choked.
Platinum Perk day!
The big gift (at least they backed off $175, but not by much 😒)
Product ID 18321113
Here's what else I see so far...more to come in the email, I would assume!
Edit: and the obligatory IT Brush deal lol
This one was also in my email.
Cashback offers:
$5 bonus on $60 with Ibotta
$10/50, $15/75, $20/100 with RetailMeNot
And the rest of the deals are here!
Nah, just early access to new products. The listings don't have a date, but they'll probably go live to everyone in a week or two.
Another Platinum Perk 🙂

@RGbrown Is that really the same GWP bag and they reduced the buy in from $175 to $160 or a different one that’s still to expensive??? LOL
It's a different one, so at least they aren't repeating like they've been doing lately 😛
Unfortunately the Freebies don't count towards the Platinum bag like they used to. I tried playing around with the Estee Lauder and Too Faced ones. Maybe someone else can figure it out?
Though, I am ordering a bunch of my favorite body washes since they are also BOGO! It also brings the cost for the bag to $90, since the total price before the BOGO hits is $180.
Hi @KatieJiang it’s good to see you! 🙂
ya they are raking away all our fun and games 😞
Oh that rituals body wash is amazing! Hmmm your right it’s worth sticking up on it. Thanks for posting
@PaletteAddict99 Hi! Life has been so busy, so I haven't been as active on BIC. I sure miss it though.
THAT BODY WASH IS AMAZING. Even the bf loves it. Win-win.
You were missed! @KatieJiang 🧡
Ya my daughter went crazy over my rituals so I better stock up too 😉
