Let's keep this thread on topic!
Ulta points refresher (because yes, it is that complicated):
Item #1 - $53.50
Item #3 - $108.50 (and is eligible for a certain item/brand 5x multiplier)
* There is also a 5x all purchase multiplier and you are platinum so you get 1.25x
Total Spent - $162
Base Points Earned - 162
Platinum .25x Earned - 41 (162 * .25 = 40.5, and rounding up)
5x All Purchases Earned - 648 (it ends up being 4x because you don't count the base points)
5x Item/Brand Earned - 434
Total Points Earned - 1285
Links are not allowed. In lieu of links, please read this:
Please add product id numbers and sku numbers so people can find items on ulta.
Just to clarify, there is an item number that Ulta lists on the website, right under the picture of the item.
The product id is the number given to the item in the URL. So Ulta's site follows this formula of having the url and then the very last part of the url is "productId=xlsImpprod" followed by an 8 digit number. If you use that "productId" number you can get to the page of any item on ulta.
It's not a search, but the direct url to the page.
Click on any product, and then view the url in the address bar. It will look like this: ulta's website (not using the actual domain because BT admins don't like that) /prep-prime-fix?productId=xlsImpprod15921204 Replace the 8 digit product id of the item you want to see with the id of the product you're looking for.
My very unofficial Ulta point multiplier to approximate percent discount chart:
(This is a number where I use the multiplier to divide by 2000 to see how many dollars I would have to spend in order to redeem a $125 reward. E.g. 2000 points divided by 1 point multiplier means I have to spend $2000 to get the $125 reward. Adding how much I had to spend ($2000) + the reward ($125), and then using the reward ($125) to divide the total purchase ($2125), I get a discount of approximately 6% based on the total purchase. Note: the total purchase is based on the concept that you are spending just enough to reach the next $125 reward and combines the reward value with how much money you had to spend to get that reward.
Multiplier | 1 | 1.25 | 1.5 | 2 | 2.25 | 2.5 | 3 | 3.25 | 3.5 | 4 | 4.25 | 4.5 | 5 | 7.25 | 7.5 | 8 | 8.25 | 8.5 | 9 | 9.25 | 9.5 | 10 | 10.25 | 10.5 |

Might be a glitch, but I'm only Platinum and I'm getting free shipping no minimum
I wanted to get myself a dyson hair dryer but I’ve already spent so much and there’s always next time so I’ll wait for the next round 🙂
Please comment if used 🤗
Anyway, this is my haul from ULTA today
This is back, ends at 2 a.m.
Product ID: pimprod2007751
Ulta experts - buy now with 4x multiplier & 20% off or wait for 350 points offer (last year it was before 24th dec so hoping coupon would still be active then)? Nothing urgent and I can wait to shop for a good offer.
ETA: these are some general skin and bath-body products $50 not like a hair tool or something.
also, if I but a hair tool today will it be 10x points (5X hair tool, 4x plat and 1x regular?
@naturalooks15 No, base points don’t count. If you have a 5x and 4x multiplier it is: 4 + 3 + 1.25 = 8.25x
Buy now or wait for 350 depends on what you’re buying and the buy in for 350. Is it 350 with any purchase or 350 with $100 purchase? Your break even point is x, where x is the unknown buyin amount, divided by 350. X/350. If x is $50, 50/350 = 7x multiplier. However, you have to remember x is also whatever you spend to get that bonus 350– so if the min buy in is $50 and you spend $70, x is now $70. 70/350= 5x multiplier.
so the break even point is x/350=8.25 multiplier. The buyin would have to be $42.42 or less to be equal to or greater than 8.25x multiplier.
@itscarin You are not only a savvy shopper but also a math wiz! Your calculations are always spot on. Very impressive. Just wanted to say that and also thank you.
@civ2ru I was terrible at math in school so it is hilarious how when it comes to shopping I’m all of a sudden competent in algebra. I actually shared a screen cap of this with my bff from hs because she remembers how much I hated math in hs and in college. lol
I feel very similar. I guess we can surprise ourselves when it comes down to our wallets. When I talk about Ulta math I end up confusing my friends or it takes an actual tutorial with real products in the cart for them to some what get it. I miss the days when we could buy targeted products and use points but still earn points! That was some pocketbook math and planning!
@itscarin Well you turned 180 degrees then, as these calculations seem to come so naturally to you now. Nothing like solid algebra to back (and/or justify) our beauty shopping habits! 😉
20 % off hair tools including Dyson 4MD2Z58J7HN. Please comment if used
Hello everyone,
I really wanted to purchase a Dyson hairdryer, but for some reason I did not get the coupon for 20% off hair tools 😕 . If anyone has the coupon code that could be shared with me, please PM me. I would really appreciate it! Thank you and happy holidays!!!
@yuzuJ I have a 20% off Dyson if you did not get one already. Please pm me if you need one
already got one from RGbrown. But thank you so much for offering.
Anyone need a 20% off code? As always, please be polite and comment if used. Expires 12/24. I used one of the codes below and not sure which one, but the other one should be valid.
I don't post a ton, but I consistently follow. Thank you all for your contributions!
I have been wrestling with myself, so I thought that I would ask for your opinions, since I consider many of you Ulta experts. 😁 I want a Dyson, but I do not have the hair tool multiplier. I have 4,000 points saved, so I will not be paying a ton out of pocket. Plus, ebates is 12%.
I was orginally planning on waiting until the new year to purchase the Dyson, so that purchase would could towards next year's status. Should I roll the dice and wait or purchase now with the coupon and 5x points?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!!!
@Nikkihas3girls I have a 20% off hair tools that includes Dyson that I am not going to use. I already have the Dyson and love it! If you want the code Please send me a pm so I can get it to you
@Imightneedthis Thank you so much for your very generous offer!! I was already given 20% off Dyson from someone, but I appreciate your kindness!
I'm happy to hear that you love your Dyson. It's nice to get feedback from real people, since there is a part of me that wonders if it is worth the price. Although, if the hair dryer performs as well as the vaccum that I recently purchased from them, I'm sure that it is amazing and worth it!!
@Nikkihas3girlshow long can you wait to purchase a dyson? I believe another round of 20% coupons goes out in the middle of January. There’s no telling if you’ll get a multiplier for it though.
I’d consider: how much you’re going to spend out of pocket for this and how much your multiplier(s) are worth. If you buy now: Dyson will be 20% so $320. Use 4000 points — out of pocket is now $70. You’ll get 5.5x * $70 so 385 points.
385/2000=.19. .19*$125= $24.06 worth of points. You will get $400 + $24.06 = $426.06 worth of product only having “paid” (in points and cash) $320. 320/426.06 = .75 or 75 % paid aka 25% off the Dyson and the $26.06 in points you’ll get to spend.
If you pay for the whole thing in cash and bank your points you’ll get 1760 in points aka $110. That would make it $320 in cash spent and $510 in product received. 320/510= .63 or 37% off. If you can afford it, it would be better to bank your points now with the multiplier. I think the combination of Dyson coupon and multiplier are extremely rare.
