Please add product id numbers and sku numbers so people can find items on ulta.  

Just to clarify, there is an item number that Ulta lists on the website, right under the picture of the item.

The product id is the number given to the item in the URL.  So Ulta's site follows this formula of having the url and then the very last part of the url is "productId=xlsImpprod" followed by an 8 digit number.  If you use that "productId" number you can get to the page of any item on ulta. 

It's not a search, but the direct url to the page. 

Click on any product, and then view the url in the address bar.  It will look like this: ulta's website (not using the actual domain because BT admins don't like that) /prep-prime-fix?productId=xlsImpprod15921204  Replace the 8 digit product id of the item you want to see with the id of the product you're looking for.

My very unofficial Ulta point multiplier to approximate percent discount chart:

(This is a number where I use the multiplier to divide by 2000 to see how many dollars I would have to spend in order to redeem a $125 reward.  E.g. 2000 points divided by 1 point multiplier means I have to spend $2000 to get the $125 reward.  Adding how much I had to spend ($2000) + the reward ($125), and then using the reward ($125) to divide the total purchase ($2125), I get a discount of approximately 6% based on the total purchase.  Note: the total purchase is based on the concept that you are spending just enough to reach the next $125 reward and combines the reward value with how much money you had to spend to get that reward.

I don't post a ton, but I consistently follow.  Thank you all for your contributions!

I have been wrestling with myself, so I thought that I would ask for your opinions,  since I consider many of you Ulta experts.  😁  I want a Dyson, but I do not have the hair tool multiplier.  I have 4,000 points saved, so I will not be paying a ton out of pocket.  Plus, ebates is 12%.

I was orginally planning on waiting until the new year to purchase the Dyson, so that purchase would could towards next year's status.  Should I roll the dice and wait or purchase now with the coupon and 5x points?

I'm happy to hear that you love your Dyson.  It's nice to get feedback from real people, since there is a part of me that wonders if it is worth the price.  Although, if the hair dryer performs as well as the vaccum that I recently purchased from them, I'm sure that it is amazing and worth it!!

@Nikkihas3girlshow long can you wait to purchase a dyson? I believe another round of 20% coupons goes out in the middle of January. There’s no telling if you’ll get a multiplier for it though.

I’d consider: how much you’re going to spend out of pocket for this and how much your multiplier(s) are worth. If you buy now: Dyson will be 20% so $320. Use 4000 points — out of pocket is now $70. You’ll get 5.5x * $70 so 385 points.

385/2000=.19. .19*$125= $24.06 worth of points. You will get $400 + $24.06 = $426.06 worth of product only having “paid” (in points and cash) $320. 320/426.06 = .75 or 75 % paid aka 25% off the Dyson and the $26.06 in points you’ll get to spend.

If you pay for the whole thing in cash and bank your points you’ll get 1760 in points aka $110. That would make it $320 in cash spent and $510 in product received. 320/510= .63 or 37% off. If you can afford it, it would be better to bank your points now with the multiplier. I think the combination of Dyson coupon and multiplier are extremely rare.

I have all these points that I keep saving.  I am getting to a point where I am so stocked up that I won't have anything to buy in 2020.  I think that is my hang up.

@Nikkihas3girls I hear you. Sometimes it’s hard spending in 2000 increments but you’re committing to a lot of stuff at $125 and while ulta is expanding their range, there still aren’t very many brands where you can drop that much on a single item. 

If ulta ever gets Natasha denona or pat McGrath is be in heaven. 

That being said, multipliers are generally in the 5x range at most. If you had a 9x multiplier I’d say definitely bank the points, but for a 5x multiplier it’s a little less tempting. I like hoarding my points for Xmas. It takes the sting out of Xmas shopping. Or your birthday!

In both 2018 and 2019, we had another hair tools 20% (including Dyson) in late July. Both times there was also a 5x in place (sitewide, for Platinum & Diamond only). If you want to wait so the spending counts for next year, feel like you can wait that long, and are Plat/Diamond, there's a decent shot you'll be able to replicate today's deal in July since you don't have the 5x hair tools (minus the CB...no clue what that'll be).

With the 5x hair tools and 5x diamond multipliers, that’s 9.5x on hair tools, or fragrance if you used that 5x multiplier. I’ve been eyeing the new double shot from drybar and their flat iron. 

I just did the math and if I buy now it’s like getting 44% off. 

$300 worth of drybar merch, use your coupon and pay $240. 9.5x points = 2280 which is 1.14 of 2000 or $142 worth of points (assuming redemption in 2000 increments). $142 in points to spend on whatever, $300 worth of drybar merch = $442 worth of product and only $240 spent. 240/442 = .56 so you only spent 56% or you got everything 44% off. 

also, there is that Dyson coupon. If you were thinking about getting a Dyson and you’re platinum, now is the time to get it. 

I really hope someone posts their Dyson haul today!  Lmk if anyone needs the Dyson coupon... or any other 20% off coupon. I’m swimming in these.
