Let's keep this thread on topic!

Ulta points refresher (because yes, it is that complicated):

Spoiler

Item #1 - $53.50

Item #3 - $108.50 (and is eligible for a certain item/brand 5x multiplier)

* There is also a 5x all purchase multiplier and you are platinum so you get 1.25x

Total Spent - $162

Base Points Earned - 162

Platinum .25x Earned - 41 (162 * .25 = 40.5, and rounding up)

5x All Purchases Earned - 648 (it ends up being 4x because you don't count the base points)

5x Item/Brand Earned - 434

Total Points Earned - 1285

Spoiler

Please add product id numbers and sku numbers so people can find items on ulta.

Just to clarify, there is an item number that Ulta lists on the website, right under the picture of the item.

The product id is the number given to the item in the URL.  So Ulta's site follows this formula of having the url and then the very last part of the url is "productId=xlsImpprod" followed by an 8 digit number.  If you use that "productId" number you can get to the page of any item on ulta.

It's not a search, but the direct url to the page.

Click on any product, and then view the url in the address bar.  It will look like this: ulta's website (not using the actual domain because BT admins don't like that) /prep-prime-fix?productId=xlsImpprod15921204  Replace the 8 digit product id of the item you want to see with the id of the product you're looking for.

My very unofficial Ulta point multiplier to approximate percent discount chart:

(This is a number where I use the multiplier to divide by 2000 to see how many dollars I would have to spend in order to redeem a $125 reward.  E.g. 2000 points divided by 1 point multiplier means I have to spend $2000 to get the $125 reward.  Adding how much I had to spend ($2000) + the reward ($125), and then using the reward ($125) to divide the total purchase ($2125), I get a discount of approximately 6% based on the total purchase.  Note: the total purchase is based on the concept that you are spending just enough to reach the next $125 reward and combines the reward value with how much money you had to spend to get that reward.

Re: Ulta GWPs

@mezzotown88

A mod posted early on in the changeover that reviews *do* count. To what extent, or how heavily they are weighted in the formula we will never know. I'd guess posts and hearts are most important, but there could even be varying levels or types that they count...in old BT, many folks got HOF around 400 hearts, but others didn't get it until around 3600 hearts, so there's no telling what other factors in those hearts that sephora might be tracking...if that makes any sense lol.

Re: Ulta GWPs

@mezzotown88 It goes by hearts... ummm, Miss @veronika23, m'dear- I know you posted the levels. Help, please?🙂🦄

Re: Ulta GWPs

@ClassicallyFab@mezzotown88sorry for the delay. I think everything we know has been mentioned so far. All I know is that you need to participate in various ways to move up. I think all participation counts the same... doesn't matter if it's a review, in the gallery or BIC.  Most of my participation comes from BIC. Posting and giving hearts.  I think time may/could be a factor too.. Like how long you are logged into the community but I'm not sure. That was a factor in BT.  BT had over 30 titles and while it seemed some people moved to HoF fast and others didn't it's probably because they posted a while back into the community and left and eventually came back to be more active.  I think my very first post was sometime in 2012 but I was more active in 2013 so that "time" factor might had a role to play... not sure if it does in the new community though. Hope this makes some sense lol.  Just be active and that title will change 🙂

Re: Ulta GWPs

I agree that $30 is too much for a drugstore palette, but I think NYX is trying to position themselves as better than drugstore.  I just got back from Athens, Greece, and I was very surprised to see a NYX store -- in the airport and in the city.  I'm pretty sure I saw a NYX store in at least one airport.  If not Athens, then Brussels or Zurich.

Re: Ulta GWPs

@itscarin

I'm jealous of your trip 😁

Re: Ulta GWPs

My thinking is that when they ultimately end up having sales on these, they will make the amount they actually want. So, instead of selling these for $15-20, the "sale" price will be around that amount, hoping people will be duped into thinking it's a good deal. Otherwise NYX needs a reality check!

Re: Ulta GWPs

Yeah!! $30 for a NYX palette!? They got cocky. How many customers' interest will they lose now? No, NYX, no. Let's be real- charge $30 AFTER you perfect your (inconsistent) formula! @RGbrown

Re: Ulta GWPs

I have no clue if this is still available but I have a code for TIGI Bed Head Rockaholic Dirty Secret Dry Shampoo that I won't be using....

Re: Ulta GWPs

@lisainprogress I would love the code if it's still available!

Re: Ulta GWPs

I got a couple of new multipliers; I don't find either one terribly exciting in and of themselves, but combined with the 5x everything points, I might be checking out a new dry shampoo or two soon lol. Check your offers to see if you have these (or something you find even better)!Screenshot_20170909-004842.png

Re: Ulta GWPs

Oops, hadn't seen your post this morn @RGbrown. The Sexy Hair strengthening shampoo and conditioner is an absolute dream for over-bleached hair, or damaged hair. Rinses clean, not tangly, leaves hair shiny and smooth, and *actually* strengthens the hair significantly. The smell is a tad sweet, and a little citrusy. I probably have only a couple uses left in my shampoo bottle, so I'm def picking some up. I like it way more than my AG.

Re: Ulta GWPs

@ClassicallyFab  I'm so glad you mentioned this!

Re: Ulta GWPs

Aww- so glad I could help! @Ispend2much6

Re: Ulta GWPs

@ClassicallyFab  I deleted that email and can't find it anymore, even doing a search for Ulta.  The one email I sent to Trash that actually got deleted on its own...

Re: Ulta GWPs

@ClassicallyFab thanks for the recommendation! My hair isn't color treated nor heat damaged, nor do I abuse it in any way...I wash, condition, and air dry every three days, but it's just so dang fine that it breaks if I even look at it funny. It's also thinning so I've been using a hair loss shampoo (which I'm happy with; I'm seeing new growth), but while it's supposed to also helps strengthen existing hair, I can't tell that it does. I was actually looking at the Maui Moisture strengthening mask, but will look at some Sexy Hair strengthening stuff too while there's a deal ☺️

Re: Ulta GWPs

@RGbrown  I read something yesterday that I found interesting. I always air dry my hair also, thinking I'm doing a good thing.  Fine, curly, dry, colored hair.  But this article said that the longer hair is wet, the weaker it becomes and is more prone to breakage.  I can't get my head around that.

Re: Ulta GWPs

@Ispend2much6

Hmmmm, trying to wrap my head around that as well; I could see it if hair was continually getting wet and then drying...the process of water evaporating over and over can certainly cause dryness (think of licking your lips over and over...it never helps for long and they always feel worse once they dry out). But...I'm not sure I see much issue with once every three days (in my case); it dries in an hour or less, and I always leave it down to dry. I try to mess with it as little as possible while drying as well...certainly no brushing, and a wide tooth comb just to detangle and part my hair after washing.

I see lots of folks that dry their hair in a bun or braids or some other sort of updo and I always cringe at that thought...as long as that takes to dry, it could cause issues in the long run IMHO. But I don't think I see much of a problem with air drying on a regular basis as long as the hair is allowed to dry as freely and quickly as possible. But then again, I am a self-professed hair care idiot, so what do I know lol 😋

Re: Ulta GWPs

@RGbrown  The article may have been sponsored by a hair dryer company. 🙂  Who knows.

Re: Ulta GWPs

Hahahaha @Ispend2much6 @RGbrown Hair is on its weakest state when it's wet. Yet, heat is bad for it, too. You can't win. It's like, one week coffee is good for you, one week it's bad. Meh. Ya gotta live!

Re: Ulta GWPs

@ClassicallyFab  I'm kind of suspicious like that when I read those conflicting reports that seem to change weekly.  For the record, I am NEVER giving up my coffee. 🙂
