Ulta GWPs

This thread will be for Ulta GWPs only.  Share ulta promos here.

Let's keep this thread on topic!

Ulta points refresher (because yes, it is that complicated):

Spoiler

Item #1 - $53.50

Item #3 - $108.50 (and is eligible for a certain item/brand 5x multiplier)

* There is also a 5x all purchase multiplier and you are platinum so you get 1.25x

Total Spent - $162

Base Points Earned - 162

Platinum .25x Earned - 41 (162 * .25 = 40.5, and rounding up)

5x All Purchases Earned - 648 (it ends up being 4x because you don't count the base points)

5x Item/Brand Earned - 434

Total Points Earned - 1285

Spoiler

Please add product id numbers and sku numbers so people can find items on ulta.

Just to clarify, there is an item number that Ulta lists on the website, right under the picture of the item.

The product id is the number given to the item in the URL.  So Ulta's site follows this formula of having the url and then the very last part of the url is "productId=xlsImpprod" followed by an 8 digit number.  If you use that "productId" number you can get to the page of any item on ulta.

It's not a search, but the direct url to the page.

Click on any product, and then view the url in the address bar.  It will look like this: ulta's website (not using the actual domain because BT admins don't like that) /prep-prime-fix?productId=xlsImpprod15921204  Replace the 8 digit product id of the item you want to see with the id of the product you're looking for.

My very unofficial Ulta point multiplier to approximate percent discount chart:

(This is a number where I use the multiplier to divide by 2000 to see how many dollars I would have to spend in order to redeem a $125 reward.  E.g. 2000 points divided by 1 point multiplier means I have to spend $2000 to get the $125 reward.  Adding how much I had to spend ($2000) + the reward ($125), and then using the reward ($125) to divide the total purchase ($2125), I get a discount of approximately 6% based on the total purchase.  Note: the total purchase is based on the concept that you are spending just enough to reach the next $125 reward and combines the reward value with how much money you had to spend to get that reward.

Re: Ulta GWPs

FYI- I received the Laura Geller gwp today.  The eyeliner is actually the color "charcoal," so it's a dark gray, not a black liner!  The brush is a mini, the lip gloss has a funky scent and is a bright coral pink (not sheer,) and the eyeshadow duo is a pinkish beige and dark brown (has a couple of sparkles) when applied.

Looks like Rimmel & Ulta broke up Smiley Surprised

The Ulta Beauty store in Manhattan

Spoiler
Rimmel, while never a major player in the U.S. market, might be losing some of its foothold here.

Declining to discuss specifics, Ulta Beauty has confirmed that the Coty Inc.-owned brand has exited the retailer, both in stores and online.

Sources indicate that Rimmel, which has always been significantly bigger in Europe than it is in the U.S., is shifting its distribution strategy in the U.S. market to focus on mass, drug and e-commerce channels. It’s likely that Rimmel was underperforming at Ulta, according to sources with knowledge of the retailer.

The move is coming at a time when Rimmel is in the early stages of a relaunch, designed to make the brand more attractive to U.S. consumers in a mass-market landscape that includes a new league of Indie and digital-born brands. In January, Rimmel announced its appointment of street artist Indie 184 as its chief artistic officer, and modernized packaging has been rolled out as well. Rimmel is one of several brands in Coty’s Consumer Beauty division to undergo a relaunch this year. Cover Girl’s modernized product assortment began rolling out in January, and Clairol in March issued a campaign tied to the revamp of its Nice ‘n Easy line.

Coty launched Rimmel in the U.S. in 2000 exclusively at Walmart, eventually rolling it out to other retailers like Target, Walgreens and CVS. But the brand never attained the vast market share held by its peers in the makeup category, like Maybelline and Cover Girl. The U.S. market comprises less than one-fourth of Rimmel’s overall business, sources say. Rimmel sales are down 13 percent year-over-year and 17 percent in the last four-week period, according to Nielsen data tracking the weeks ending June 26.

The retailer in the last quarter of 2017 reset its mass department to accommodate a host of new brands, including Morphe and ColourPop, and increased space for others, including Milani, Wet ‘n’ Wild and Essence Cosmetics. The move is indicative of a larger movement happening in the mass market, most aggressively within makeup, as consumers shift preferences away from heritage brands to social-media-driven niche brands.

Re: Ulta GWPs

It's not a GWP but they're doing the bon bon palettes for $25 a pop and your 20% off code works on it, too!

Benefit and clinique GWP are still working, and there's a dry bar one, too.

@itscarin Great score AND you got the crimper! I really want the Too Faced Bon Bons since the price is right & it has more than a few cool-tones. The $17 Japonesque Ibiza palette is also beautiful, but there's no way it could work for me. I pulled the trigger this morning & got a boatload of Organic to Green products with the full size jasmine oil GWP and a Coola after-sun lotion with great reviews.

Re: Ulta GWPs

I am glad that I am waiting on using the coupon because I am now able to add the new IT Cosmetics star foundation brush to my order using the 20% off coupon plus points.

@itscarin I am envious that your bridesmaids will be receiving such great gifts. I just want to use the Dyson Blow Dryer one more time before I give you my opinion which will be later today.

Re: Ulta GWPs

@Loretta55 Sweet!  I can't wait to hear about it!  I can't tell you how many expensive things I've bought and been super disappointed with.  Rational me says a $200 hair dryer is already expensive enough, but that other little voice in the back of my head says "What if a $400 hair dryer is better?"

Oddly enough, most of my friends are not make up people.  I only have one friend who wears winged liner every day.  I hope they like it!

RE: Re: Ulta GWPs

I just wish the 20% coupon would work on the Dyson 😔

Re: RE: Re: Ulta GWPs

@Anonymous I hope that you read my review on the Dyson. I definitely prefer the Bio Ionic 10X Blow Dryer which is over $100.00 cheaper and the coupon works on it.

Re: Ulta GWPs

@itscarin I dried my hair with the Dyson Blow Dryer and I will give you the pros and cons.

Pros:

I do not sweat when blow drying my hair

Lightweight, but so is the Bio Ionic they each weigh 1 pound

It is much quieter than my Bio Ionic.

Magnetic attachments

Cons:

It still takes me between 10 - 15 minutes to dry my hair, my roots still feel wet ( I have not quite figured out how to correct that ) No such problem with the Bio Ionic 10X

You have to hold the button for the cool shot to work. I do not have this problem with the Bio Ionic 10X

Cost, $399.00 plus tax Bio Ionic 10X is currently $295.00 plus tax (I bought it when it was $329.00 plus tax using 20% off coupon plus points)

The filter is located in the handle, I guess there is a learning curve with that.

The cord is hard to store inside of the box that it came in. Others have mentioned this problem when I read the reviews online.

I hope this clarifies the pros & the cons of the Dyson Blow Dryer. I think that I am going to keep it. It rarely goes on sale, but I purchased it when there was a 5 times multiplier so I literally got it for $275.00. I have until July 24 to decide. As I said in my previous post I still prefer the Bio Ionic 10X Blow Dryer. When I get my root touch up next week I will see if my Devacurl stylist has any additional recommendations on how to use it more efficiently.

Re: Ulta GWPs

@itscarin To be honest I prefer the Bio Ionic 10X Blow Dryer that I purchased about 3 years ago using the 20% off coupon plus points. I see no difference between that and the Dyson Blow Dryer but I want to give it one more try. I do not think it was user error because I reread the instructions and it still takes as long to dry my hair as using the Bio Ionic with the diffuser getting the exact same results.

Re: Ulta GWPs

@itscarin I am not sure if you placed your order because I noticed the new collection from Stila is now available on Ulta dot com. I want to swatch them before any purchases. I feel that I got burtned on the Vault purchase. More than half of the colors did not work for me.

RE: Ulta GWPs

Check your emails, I got a 2nd 20% off prestige today!

Re: RE: Ulta GWPs

I held onto my first coupon waiting for a good GWP to drop, but it never did.  I received a second email but the code was the same as the first.  😕

Re: RE: Ulta GWPs

@SAlyFitz  Congratulations!

Re: RE: Ulta GWPs

Me too!

@SAlyFitz Nice! I just keep getting the same code emailed...

@SAlyFitz Nice! I just keep getting the same code emailed to me almost every day. LOL

RE: @SAlyFitz Nice! I just keep getting the same code emailed...

I used my first one last week so I’m not sure if it’s because of already using it and them knowing I’ll use another lol

Re: RE: @SAlyFitz Nice! I just keep getting the same code emailed...

@SAlyFitz

Yup, that's likely why!

One of these days, I'll remember that ulta does that pretty frequently. I keep holding onto mine until the last day, scared that a good gwp or something will come along after I use mine, or I'll realize I forgot something...I should just start using mine early and hoping a second one comes along if I decide I need it 😋

@ohheyitscindyk Thanks! I just checked it out, although I'm paranoid about accidentally pasting weird work in the spreadsheet when I'm on my phone. (If you ever see images of stratigraphic columns in there, blame me.) 😛 I really like most all of the Kenra styling products I've tried-- does anyone use and love any of their shampoos or conditioners?
