Let's keep this thread on topic!

Ulta points refresher (because yes, it is that complicated):

Spoiler

Item #1 - $53.50

Item #3 - $108.50 (and is eligible for a certain item/brand 5x multiplier)

* There is also a 5x all purchase multiplier and you are platinum so you get 1.25x

Total Spent - $162

Base Points Earned - 162

Platinum .25x Earned - 41 (162 * .25 = 40.5, and rounding up)

5x All Purchases Earned - 648 (it ends up being 4x because you don't count the base points)

5x Item/Brand Earned - 434

Total Points Earned - 1285

Spoiler

Please add product id numbers and sku numbers so people can find items on ulta.

Just to clarify, there is an item number that Ulta lists on the website, right under the picture of the item.

The product id is the number given to the item in the URL.  So Ulta's site follows this formula of having the url and then the very last part of the url is "productId=xlsImpprod" followed by an 8 digit number.  If you use that "productId" number you can get to the page of any item on ulta.

It's not a search, but the direct url to the page.

Click on any product, and then view the url in the address bar.  It will look like this: ulta's website (not using the actual domain because BT admins don't like that) /prep-prime-fix?productId=xlsImpprod15921204  Replace the 8 digit product id of the item you want to see with the id of the product you're looking for.

My very unofficial Ulta point multiplier to approximate percent discount chart:

(This is a number where I use the multiplier to divide by 2000 to see how many dollars I would have to spend in order to redeem a $125 reward.  E.g. 2000 points divided by 1 point multiplier means I have to spend $2000 to get the $125 reward.  Adding how much I had to spend ($2000) + the reward ($125), and then using the reward ($125) to divide the total purchase ($2125), I get a discount of approximately 6% based on the total purchase.  Note: the total purchase is based on the concept that you are spending just enough to reach the next $125 reward and combines the reward value with how much money you had to spend to get that reward.

Re: If you want the gift, and hopefully something better, I'd...

I'm sorry, I should have been clearer. I'd meant to say consider sending a new email requesting your welcome code & if the answer is as jacked as the one you've already received, then write back saying the matter wasn't resolved. Re their response, it's illogical for a company with a limitless supply of beauty products to say they're out of promo codes for beauty products. If I'd received that answer I would have personally emailed every single address I could find for Ulta from CS to IT support to corporate quoting their Mission & Vision statements since their employees must feel pretty stupid mishandling customers by telling them that they've essentially run out of beauty products. If anything, Ulta still states that Diamond members receive a $25 off beauty services coupon, which they've been including in their welcome boxes all year. If they've discontinued welcome boxes proper, they at least need to send you the coupon and an apology for poor customer service. ::end rant::

Re: If you want the gift, and hopefully something better, I'd...

Oh, that’s a really good point @NatureGirlSD. They do state that you are supposed to receive that $25 off beauty services coupon (I forgot about that), so they should at the very least send that. So frustrating!

Re: If you want the gift, and hopefully something better, I'd...

@PrettyPaintUnidentified

WTF? Out of coupon codes? That makes no sense. While gifts themselves may have been oos at the time, out of codes is about the most outrageous thing I've ever heard 👿

I have responded to a ticket after the 7 day stated limit with no problems. I like having the full history of my convo in one place. I'd start the email chain up again before calling (but I also hate the phone and avoid calling whenever possible lol).

Re: If you want the gift, and hopefully something better, I'd...

And just to update with my ulta situation of not getting a welcome gift...

I emailed once again, and they sent me a code for welcome gift right away, so they currently don’t seem to be out of gifts (or codes as the previous person claimed).

Re: If you want the gift, and hopefully something better, I'd...

@RGbrown Yes, they said this: “At this time, we no longer have any codes for the Welcome Gift to provide for you, and we sincerely apologize for this inconvenience.”

Makes no sense, huh? I guess I’ll try replying to the email and see what happens. I also hate making phone calls and avoid them whenever possible.

Re: If you want the gift, and hopefully something better, I'd...

@PrettyPaint~~ I can't believe that happened, so sorry. That is just ridiculous!

Re: If you want the gift, and hopefully something better, I'd...

@KemoLove Yeah, I’m pretty frustrated with how inconsistent they seem to be with this gift.

Re: If you want the gift, and hopefully something better, I'd...

Ah, I didn't see these comments. Though I usually like to have a full record of the conversation all in one email, I think a new inquiry might generate a new response. I'd avoid calling since it's like gambling-- if you get don't get a rep willing to do the right thing and satisfactorily resolve the issue in one phone call, you're right back to sending an email explaining the situation. (If you contact them, make sure to mention Sephora would never do that. Ha!) @PrettyPaint @RGbrown

Re: If you want the gift, and hopefully something better, I'd...

@NatureGirlSD

Sephora would never do what?? 😮 Between the two, I have received FAR superior service from Ulta lol. It makes me super super sad to see folks having experiences with Ulta like I've had with Sephora (aka horrendous)...I've always been very rah-rah-yay-ulta about their CS, but it seems to be declining lately, and I hate that 😞

Re: If you want the gift, and hopefully something better, I'd...

LOL Are you using the Rouge phone number? Seriously, I hear you. I've had very few issues overall with Ulta and Sephora compared with all the purchases I've made with both. When I've had to contact Sephora in email or by phone I get help right away. Ulta has always been very good in email, but in 2 calls to Ulta, one went above and beyond, while the other was cringe-worthy. I don't like to see customer service slip anywhere I shop, which is why I always ask for a supervisor when reps do a great job, as well as when they make me question my sanity. 😛

Re: If you want the gift, and hopefully something better, I'd...

@NatureGirlSDUnidentified

Nah, I don't call, I email. I have a staggering email chain from last spring that is mind numbing in both the number of incompetent folks Sephora has working their CS desk, and the amount of time it takes to get a response. I had several problems pop up around the same time, and trying to get them all resolved by someone not simply copying and pasting an answer that didnt even fit my issue was infuriating and mind numbing. It actually prompted me to slow way down on Sephora purchases because I just wasn't going to deal with their CS again.

Ulta, on the other hand, has always been super good to me via email; quick response, and a response that actually fits my question/issue. And even though I do way more shopping at Ulta, I've had way fewer problems to begin with, so I rarely have to contact them in the first place. That's why I'm a little heartbroken every time I see someone have trouble with ulta's CS, because I know they can and have done better ☹️

Re: If you want the gift, and hopefully something better, I'd...

That really sucks about your issues with Sephora! I've only had that level of frustration directly with CS for a company in the UK (Ulta has started selling them since.) A beard oil I'd purchased direct as a gift was off & they asked me two separate times to tell them where on the bottle it said it was off. I think we had 4 responses each until it was finally resolved. Ha! @RGbrown

Re: RE: Ulta GWPs

@SAlyFitz When I emailed, they told me they were out of gifts. They didn’t offer anything else, which is pretty disappointing. I was going to try calling instead, but I’m not sure that I’ll bother given what they’re currently giving out.

RE: Ulta GWPs

This is exactly what I received. I wish I would have just used the 3.50$ coupon instead. Lol

I can't believe how bad the diamond gifts are lately. That is so disappointing.

Re: RE: Ulta GWPs

7.1ml primer and 2ml lip pigment is way too much from them. 😤

Re: RE: Ulta GWPs

@PochayUnidentified

Wow, the gifts earlier in the year were much better. That's definitely disappointing ☹️

Re: RE: Ulta GWPs

Personally, I wasn't all that enthused about receiving the Butter London Eye Gloss, at least I would've worn the NARS Lip Pigment. It all just "drives home" the fact that they weren't prepared to roll out a higher tier to Ultamate Rewards. Ulta should've select market tested it before introducing it nationwide.

Re: RE: Ulta GWPs

@maximaUnidentified

At least in the beginning they were giving out full size products, and they were all sparkly, diamond themed. I wonder if the response rate has been so good that they just flat ran out of the good stuff and are now scrounging for whatever they can toss in a box? This isn't the first one I've seen with minis instead of full size stuff. And Smashbox primer...good grief...

I didn't much care about my gift either, but that was because I already had it (LG Diamond Dust highlighter) 😋 and ditto for me on the Glazen stuff...I have several and don't need more.

Since it's a gift for spending so much, which makes the chances of getting a dupe of something already in your collection pretty high, I'd love to see Ulta collaborate with 2 or 3 or 4 brands next year for some cool LE Diamond gifts. That would be pretty neat!

Re: RE: Ulta GWPs

That is so disappointing @Pochay! 😞
