Let's keep this thread on topic!

Ulta points refresher (because yes, it is that complicated):

Spoiler

Item #1 - $53.50

Item #3 - $108.50 (and is eligible for a certain item/brand 5x multiplier)

* There is also a 5x all purchase multiplier and you are platinum so you get 1.25x

Total Spent - $162

Base Points Earned - 162

Platinum .25x Earned - 41 (162 * .25 = 40.5, and rounding up)

5x All Purchases Earned - 648 (it ends up being 4x because you don't count the base points)

5x Item/Brand Earned - 434

Total Points Earned - 1285

Spoiler

Please add product id numbers and sku numbers so people can find items on ulta.

Just to clarify, there is an item number that Ulta lists on the website, right under the picture of the item.

The product id is the number given to the item in the URL.  So Ulta's site follows this formula of having the url and then the very last part of the url is "productId=xlsImpprod" followed by an 8 digit number.  If you use that "productId" number you can get to the page of any item on ulta.

It's not a search, but the direct url to the page.

Click on any product, and then view the url in the address bar.  It will look like this: ulta's website (not using the actual domain because BT admins don't like that) /prep-prime-fix?productId=xlsImpprod15921204  Replace the 8 digit product id of the item you want to see with the id of the product you're looking for.

My very unofficial Ulta point multiplier to approximate percent discount chart:

(This is a number where I use the multiplier to divide by 2000 to see how many dollars I would have to spend in order to redeem a $125 reward.  E.g. 2000 points divided by 1 point multiplier means I have to spend $2000 to get the $125 reward.  Adding how much I had to spend ($2000) + the reward ($125), and then using the reward ($125) to divide the total purchase ($2125), I get a discount of approximately 6% based on the total purchase.  Note: the total purchase is based on the concept that you are spending just enough to reach the next $125 reward and combines the reward value with how much money you had to spend to get that reward.

@NatureGirlSD everything is electronic now so the grades are in percentages on your kids profile. (I just checked to be sure😊) but when the school system changed they printed them out (like 3 years ago?) to show parents what to expect and there was no percentages just / for on grade level or x if they met grade level. ALOT of parents were pissed & complained because how are we supposed to know what we need to work on with our kids if it's /. The teachers didn't like it, they even sent home more explanations with letter grades. The last report card of the year I got last year was printed & it was letter grades with percentages so they might even did away with it or just not bother sending that part to parents😉. I still see it though on the more "in depth" reports I get- 5 to 10 pages (I have 2 sons that have learning disabilities) The teachers have said it just created alot more work for them. It's like, what they expect out of kids these days you have to expect the report cards/midterms to be more intelligent than x or /.

@NatureGirlSD that's all I write in... (cursive) & I was horrified when my oldest went to sign her name.... in print! she said they don't even teach it in school anymore. and don't get me started on the new report cards....no letter grades just /'s. what is that / supposed to tell me as a parent?

Re: @NatureGirlSD that's all I write in... (cursive) & I was...

It really surprised me to learn cursive fell by the wayside, but I guess kids aren't exposed to anything but print anymore. The only issue is that a signature is cursive, so they do need to at least know how to sign their names until signatures are phased out. I haven't heard about not using letter grades before. Are they at least using percentages? @sonnydee

Re: @NatureGirlSD that's all I write in... (cursive) & I was...

@NatureGirlSD @sonnydee I only write in cursive & people think I'm weird! That's sad that it's no longer taught in school. And what? / grades??

Speaking of cursive, I had a TA once who couldn't read it, & she took a point off of each page of my five page report.

Re: @NatureGirlSD that's all I write in... (cursive) & I was...

@ohheyitscindyk I've been writing in cursive since 3rd grade and can relate to this so hard! I can't write legibly in print if I'm in a rush and it's always been a struggle to get people to be ok with my cursive writing. My cursive is very neat and my print looks like a 5 year old did it. One of my absolute biggest peeves is the "please print" or "print only" in paper documents.

Re: @NatureGirlSD that's all I write in... (cursive) & I was...

@gonerogue Yes, I hate that! I just want to write in cursive, darn it! I just flew home from a trip & on the plane, I was tempted to do the in flight magazine's crossword puzzle in cursive lol. I just imagine the next passenger in that seat looking at it thinking, "Who did this??"

Re: @NatureGirlSD that's all I write in... (cursive) & I was...

How obnoxious! I would have challenged the TA if it wasn't in the syllabus or instructions. Cursive is fast, especially for in-class assignments. @ohheyitscindyk

Re: @NatureGirlSD that's all I write in... (cursive) & I was...

@NatureGirlSD I should have! It was especially annoying because it was a huge class, so there were many TAs, & they all took turns grading the assignments. My cursive wasn't an issue for any of the other TAs, but that one. She also took the time to write me a note on the first page in her bright red ink, stating that I should really not be writing in cursive ever. My cursive is much neater than my print, which is part of the reason why I stick to cursive. She should see my print lol.

@sonnydee Ha! Add rotary phones & 8-track tapes to the list. I love writing in cursive and died when I learned that some college students under 20 can't read it. One called it fancy round writing. Now it's like my secret superpower and I sometimes ask people if they can read cursive before handing them notes. :-))

Re: Ulta GWPs

@NatureGirlSDI am dying inside. My family rented a VHS player in the mid 80’s. No one could afford to buy one at that time. Thank you for the laughs, because no one else understands 😂

Re: Ulta GWPs

My dad still uses VCRs to tape stuff off TV. Many stations can tell when you have a DVR hooked up and block the ability to record digitally, but he found most don't block a VCR recording. One of his VHS to DVR converters broke last year and he wanted a new one for Xmas, but was heartbroken to find out the last manufacturer stopped making them and it was gonna be around $700 to get a replacement.

Why he feels the need to tape stuff off TV is a whole different can of worms though 😹😹😹

Re: Ulta GWPs

@eshoe  @NatureGirlSD  We still have one. 🙂  In addition to using a Playstation as our movie player.

Re: Ulta GWPs

I'm jealous. I just have an Atari plug-in that lets me play the originals on my TV. :-)) @Ispend2much6
