Let's keep this thread on topic!
Ulta points refresher (because yes, it is that complicated):
Item #1 - $53.50
Item #3 - $108.50 (and is eligible for a certain item/brand 5x multiplier)
* There is also a 5x all purchase multiplier and you are platinum so you get 1.25x
Total Spent - $162
Base Points Earned - 162
Platinum .25x Earned - 41 (162 * .25 = 40.5, and rounding up)
5x All Purchases Earned - 648 (it ends up being 4x because you don't count the base points)
5x Item/Brand Earned - 434
Total Points Earned - 1285
Links are not allowed. In lieu of links, please read this:
Please add product id numbers and sku numbers so people can find items on ulta.
Just to clarify, there is an item number that Ulta lists on the website, right under the picture of the item.
The product id is the number given to the item in the URL. So Ulta's site follows this formula of having the url and then the very last part of the url is "productId=xlsImpprod" followed by an 8 digit number. If you use that "productId" number you can get to the page of any item on ulta.
It's not a search, but the direct url to the page.
Click on any product, and then view the url in the address bar. It will look like this: ulta's website (not using the actual domain because BT admins don't like that) /prep-prime-fix?productId=xlsImpprod15921204 Replace the 8 digit product id of the item you want to see with the id of the product you're looking for.
My very unofficial Ulta point multiplier to approximate percent discount chart:
(This is a number where I use the multiplier to divide by 2000 to see how many dollars I would have to spend in order to redeem a $125 reward. E.g. 2000 points divided by 1 point multiplier means I have to spend $2000 to get the $125 reward. Adding how much I had to spend ($2000) + the reward ($125), and then using the reward ($125) to divide the total purchase ($2125), I get a discount of approximately 6% based on the total purchase. Note: the total purchase is based on the concept that you are spending just enough to reach the next $125 reward and combines the reward value with how much money you had to spend to get that reward.
Multiplier | 1 | 1.25 | 1.5 | 2 | 2.25 | 2.5 | 3 | 3.25 | 3.5 | 4 | 4.25 | 4.5 | 5 | 7.25 | 7.5 | 8 | 8.25 | 8.5 | 9 | 9.25 | 9.5 | 10 | 10.25 | 10.5 |

I got the exact same substitutes for both. One of the perfumes in the holiday bag is stinky. Otherwise happy.
That too bad about the newness gwp. I had had my eye on that one but those subs would have made me quite angry.
I'm sharing this experience in case anyone needs a reminder -- ulta is a little weird about returns when you make a purchase using points even if you paid more than the entire cost of the potential-returned-item out of pocket. For example:
I bought $175 worth of goods using a $125 reward. One item I purchased was like $45, so less than the what I had paid cash for my total purchase. I thought when I went to make the return I'd get the full $45 I had spent out of pocket back, however, I was wrong. I was only offered $15 for the $45 item. I ended up keeping the item because it's worth more to me than $15.
Moving forward, I would try to avoid spending more than whatever you are redeeming in points so that should you need to return something you can get your cash back instead of getting a pro-rated amount back.
@itscarin Good reminder; I've been burned a few times like that. On the other hand, I've had some cashiers offer me my return back that I purchased with points because they don't have anywhere to keep them in the store, so they throw them away anyway.
Has anyone's 20% off coupons (that you havent posted) said 'already been used', when you went to use it?
I didnt think I'd used my latest email code, I thought I'd only used the one I got in the mail, but its hard to remember, and it doesnt show on the order, which code it was...and I remember seeing here someone saying that their code had been used already, and they never posted it, so I'm wondering if anyone else had that problem, since I figured if someone was typing in a bunch of letters and numbers to try to guess codes, they might eventually hit the jackpot. 😕
@treestar86 I didn't even get one in the mail this year just the email one.
@makeitup305 ugh, im sorry!! 😕 mine was a little card coupon, in the catalog...not a separate one, like some ppl got.
not via email, but when i called CS last year to asked about the coupons and they said they're only sending targeted coupons out now. When CS sent me one, the first one said already used LOL. So id assume if you contact them, they can send you a new one

and 10%, on rakuten!! 😃🤗
Any educated guesses on the likelihood of a beauty break or beauty bag today?
The chances of a GWP today are slim to none. Assuming this year stacks up like previous years, we won't see a Beauty Break (or any other super short, partial day GWPs) again until after Xmas. If a GWP doesn't show up at midnight, there probably won't be one at all that day for the next couple of weeks.
Thanks, with that knowledge I made my purchase today. Happy Holidays!

And the Holiday Beauty Blitz selection has changed for the week:
Babylisspro curling irons/wands/waver 20% off
Benefit mascaras (full sizes, excludes sets) 2 for $30
Drybar Mixologist interchangeable iron 20% off (now $159.20)
Philosophy select moisturizers 40% off
PUR 4-in-1 pressed powder foundation 40% off (now $17.70)
Urban Decay Naked Honey 50% off (now $24.50)
I think I’m going to make the adult decision and pass on the drybar 3-in-1 wand. I bought the drybar crimper a few years ago and still haven’t used it. I also have the 1” and the 1.25” curlers which I don’t use often because I just didn’t get the hang of it.
I do love the idea of the crimper though. With the points offers it ends up being 9.5x points which I look at as being 37% off the total purchase (current purchase and future purchase with points).
im doing all this math trying to justify buying this but I know I shouldn’t based on how many hair tools I’ve already accumulated and how rarely I use them.
but then I figure it’s already 20% off and with the coupon it’d be another 20% off and then kind of another 37% off on top of all that which would make it cost about $80.
the only thing that’s stopping me is I’m salty the $100 gift cards with $20 reward is no longer on the table.
i just don’t need another hair tool and I’m not even sure where I’d put it. I still might get this though. 😬
both taken, by a sneaky lurker. 😒😤
Just sharing with you all pics of the Armani GWPs from last week's Perks Day. The pouch turned out bigger & nicer than I expected! Plus, soft. The shell's a soft, ribbed knit. The My Way EDP is 7ml/0.25 oz. ❤️
Also this…
Edit: free shipping not working for me currently. I might just hold off and order on Sunday - hopefully, it will be a 5x points day again this year.
Select Clinique gift sets just went 30% off, as well as Too Faced Cinnamon Swirl
Bvlgari perfumes are also 50% off.
