Ulta points refresher (because yes, it is that complicated):

* There is also a 5x all purchase multiplier and you are platinum so you get 1.25x

Please add product id numbers and sku numbers so people can find items on ulta.  

Just to clarify, there is an item number that Ulta lists on the website, right under the picture of the item.

The product id is the number given to the item in the URL.  So Ulta's site follows this formula of having the url and then the very last part of the url is "productId=xlsImpprod" followed by an 8 digit number.  If you use that "productId" number you can get to the page of any item on ulta. 

It's not a search, but the direct url to the page. 

Click on any product, and then view the url in the address bar.  It will look like this: ulta's website (not using the actual domain because BT admins don't like that) /prep-prime-fix?productId=xlsImpprod15921204  Replace the 8 digit product id of the item you want to see with the id of the product you're looking for.

My very unofficial Ulta point multiplier to approximate percent discount chart:

(This is a number where I use the multiplier to divide by 2000 to see how many dollars I would have to spend in order to redeem a $125 reward.  E.g. 2000 points divided by 1 point multiplier means I have to spend $2000 to get the $125 reward.  Adding how much I had to spend ($2000) + the reward ($125), and then using the reward ($125) to divide the total purchase ($2125), I get a discount of approximately 6% based on the total purchase.  Note: the total purchase is based on the concept that you are spending just enough to reach the next $125 reward and combines the reward value with how much money you had to spend to get that reward.

There's only one Ulta site; they scrapped all Canadian plans earlier this year and cut off anything that was previously Canada-facing.

@missjeanie Hopefully your points will show back up. I remember being in Europe one time and ordering from my phone Ulta App during the Beauty Days, but I don't remember having in problems. Hope someone else can give you some suggestions 🤔

Points are back now @Luvstravel , but still no go on actually checking out, either using points or not.  I'm at the point where I figure I'll speak to someone when their phones line are open again.  It'd be awesome customer service if they ran the card when I speak to them and allowed me to keep the points but I'm not holding my breath lol

@Luvstravel I was on the US site, and even had my computer IP address set to a US address.  Then I had a friend in the US who's card I was using try from their computer and it wasn't working either.  I figured worst case I could just spend my points, but they seem to have disappeared now. lol

Hmm, a US IP address was going to be my next suggestion, but I see you had that too. I'm a bit stumped as to why it wouldn't go through 😥

FWIW, just placing an order wouldn't extend the exp date of your points, unless the purchase would have been enough to get you to Platinum. Ulta's points have a fixed exp date, unlike Sephora where just keeping your acct active once a year will keep the points alive.

@RGbrown I needed a 125$ purchase to keep my Diamond status so I tried to place a 140$ order.  It just keeps saying theres a problem with the payment method.  We've tried two different US credit cards and a US debit card.  We tried from my computer with a VPN and from his actually in the US.  I then tried to just spend the points that I had but it worked out that I'd need to spend like 1.50$ and it turned down even that payment.  He checked his bank and there's tons of credit available so the issue isn't the cards.  It's gotta be my account for some reason.  Their online chat person said they'd send me an email to try to help me but he said it'll be within the next two days... so by that point my status will be gone.  

Ulta rewards status does re-set at New Years as well no?  The last time I made a purchase was in person in February of 2020, right before the border closed.

Did you try placing the order on the Ulta app? A lot of times the website has problems but the app works most times.

Diamond, or Platinum? If you were only $125 from Diamond, then you already have Platinum, and your points won't expire. If you were $125 from Platinum, then yeah, exp date is a question (and one I'm not 100% certain how to answer. Points expire at the end if the quarter, a year after they were earned if you don't have a status, but I'm unsure if your 2019 points would expire tonight, or at the end of the first quarter after your status expires. Anything you earned in early 2020 won't expire until March 31 though, I'm certain on that).

And yup, spending does reset in a couple of hours. So sorry your attempt to finish yours off was foiled!

I actually tried the chat function again and this person told me that my account was blocked because I tried to check out in Canada and then tried in the US, it's been blocked from checkout for my protection and he's not able to unblock it.  He did mention that I should try calling my local (fish) store tomorrow to see if they'd be willing to extend the points/status as they have that ability, though he does not.  So I'll give it a shot with the store closest to me tomorrow and if they aren't down, I'll try the one closest to my friend.  We'll see how it goes.  I mean worst case it's just a few hundred dollars in points right?  No one has died, no one is injured.  Would just be super cool if they did allow me to make a purchase tomorrow.  

Thanks for trying to help me though! Hopefully 2021 will allow me back into the US to do more economic stimulation!

I'm actually raising not just one, but two eyebrows over what the CS rep told you...I know store employees (even managers) don't have any sort of ability to add/adjust points on an account, so I'm highly doubtful they'd have any option to "dial back the clock" on spending or expired points either. I'm curious to hear what the store has to say!

Assuming it's just a temporary block, it should disappear automatically in around 24hrs; it's the same block they use when someone places too many orders, and I've run into it myself in the past 😋 There's no need to contact CS about it again, unless it hangs around longer than that. Once it clears, you could always try placing an order again (if your points are in order, of course), making sure to hide that Canadian thing you have going on first 😆

@civ2ru I'd rather have another coupon to use (I know we usually get one to begin with thankfully) that includes prestige rather than the b-day gift. Even if it was like $10 off I'd be more excited for that then yet another mascara.
