Let's keep this thread on topic!
Ulta points refresher (because yes, it is that complicated):
Item #1 - $53.50
Item #3 - $108.50 (and is eligible for a certain item/brand 5x multiplier)
* There is also a 5x all purchase multiplier and you are platinum so you get 1.25x
Total Spent - $162
Base Points Earned - 162
Platinum .25x Earned - 41 (162 * .25 = 40.5, and rounding up)
5x All Purchases Earned - 648 (it ends up being 4x because you don't count the base points)
5x Item/Brand Earned - 434
Total Points Earned - 1285
Links are not allowed. In lieu of links, please read this:
Please add product id numbers and sku numbers so people can find items on ulta.
Just to clarify, there is an item number that Ulta lists on the website, right under the picture of the item.
The product id is the number given to the item in the URL. So Ulta's site follows this formula of having the url and then the very last part of the url is "productId=xlsImpprod" followed by an 8 digit number. If you use that "productId" number you can get to the page of any item on ulta.
It's not a search, but the direct url to the page.
Click on any product, and then view the url in the address bar. It will look like this: ulta's website (not using the actual domain because BT admins don't like that) /prep-prime-fix?productId=xlsImpprod15921204 Replace the 8 digit product id of the item you want to see with the id of the product you're looking for.
My very unofficial Ulta point multiplier to approximate percent discount chart:
(This is a number where I use the multiplier to divide by 2000 to see how many dollars I would have to spend in order to redeem a $125 reward. E.g. 2000 points divided by 1 point multiplier means I have to spend $2000 to get the $125 reward. Adding how much I had to spend ($2000) + the reward ($125), and then using the reward ($125) to divide the total purchase ($2125), I get a discount of approximately 6% based on the total purchase. Note: the total purchase is based on the concept that you are spending just enough to reach the next $125 reward and combines the reward value with how much money you had to spend to get that reward.
| Multiplier | 1 | 1.25 | 1.5 | 2 | 2.25 | 2.5 | 3 | 3.25 | 3.5 | 4 | 4.25 | 4.5 | 5 | 7.25 | 7.5 | 8 | 8.25 | 8.5 | 9 | 9.25 | 9.5 | 10 | 10.25 | 10.5 |

With the 5x hair tools and 5x diamond multipliers, that’s 9.5x on hair tools, or fragrance if you used that 5x multiplier. I’ve been eyeing the new double shot from drybar and their flat iron.
I just did the math and if I buy now it’s like getting 44% off.
$300 worth of drybar merch, use your coupon and pay $240. 9.5x points = 2280 which is 1.14 of 2000 or $142 worth of points (assuming redemption in 2000 increments). $142 in points to spend on whatever, $300 worth of drybar merch = $442 worth of product and only $240 spent. 240/442 = .56 so you only spent 56% or you got everything 44% off.
also, there is that Dyson coupon. If you were thinking about getting a Dyson and you’re platinum, now is the time to get it.
I really hope someone posts their Dyson haul today! Lmk if anyone needs the Dyson coupon... or any other 20% off coupon. I’m swimming in these.
@itscarin I caved! I would love one of your extra coupons if you still have them, it doesn't matter which one because I want to get another hair tool. I didn't get any extras this time, last year I was swimming in them and giving them away like crazy.
@quetzalina sent you a 20% off. Happy shopping! Great deal on the Dyson, too!
@itscarin Heh, the Dyson/hair tools coupon is the one Ulta keeps sending me. Eh, I have considered buying a Supersonic, as a gift for a relative, for a month now. So tonight I finally moved everything else out of my cart and placed a single item order for that hair dryer. I also used some of my banked points toward that order. I’ll wait til later to check my points history, to make sure I got all the multipliers I’m supposed to. At a quick glance, I think I got my double base points and one 5x multiplier.
And since I had this order shipped to Florida (where my gift recipient lives—and where I’ll be a week from now), I paid the FL state tax rate instead of the stupidly high Chicago tax rate. Not that I’m advocating sales tax evasion or anything 🙄 but sheesh, it’d be cheaper (depending on package weight) to have more of my packages shipped to FL and then mailed to me. 🤣
@RGbrown I’ve been waiting for this one, since December is my birthday month and, theoretically, I should get double points all month.
Ulta still hasn’t sent me the new 20% off offer others have received, which is funny because they do keep reminding me I’m $135 away from keeping my Diamond status through 2020. I shouldn’t complain since I do still have my $10 birthday coupon to use. But c’mon Ulta, surely you’ve analyzed my shopping habits well enough to know 20% off + double points [in addition to 5x points] + $10 coupon = rainmaker. 😄
Bah, I hate hearing that some folks get skipped with the 20% 😥 My sis is in the same boat though...no email q's for her for over a year now. It's just crazy that anyone gets left out, especially a diamond member.
I'm curious to know if you're gonna go for renewing diamond? $135 isn't much in the grand scheme of things, but still a decent chunk of change at one time. I renewed diamond ages ago, so it's not a question I have to ponder for myself. I'm always curious about other folks' train of thought though.
I've made an appt for a haircut this afternoon; I've been waiting for a good multiplier myself! 😁
@RGbrown I don’t spend with the intent to maintain any retailer’s reward tier—well, except Nordstrom’s. But since I’ve had around 15 things in my cart for the last couple weeks, I’ll probably end up renewIng Diamond soon. 😄 I just haven’t spent as much out of pocket at Ulta as I have in past years, thanks to all my banked points: I’ve been creating my own discounts on Ulta purchases all year. And I don’t chase most of Ulta’s GWP bags and stuff (I rarely see one that interests me anymore), so those don’t encourage me to spend more money. Even if I end up not renewing Diamond, I’d just be Platinum instead, and that’s not the end of the world for me. 🙂
I really wish Ulta would be more consistent with their promo emails. I do still get them. Usually I get all of them for Diamond. When they first introduced this tier, my Ulta account got all screwy: I wound up with separate Diamond and Platinum accounts using the same phone number, so either online or in-store purchases kept counting toward the wrong account, plus I was only getting Platinum promo emails. Surprisingly, customer service was quick to fix it for me. I remember several other people experiencing account issues during that first Platinum-to-Diamond cutover. I wonder why your sister stopped getting promos? That’s not cool, man. I hope that gets resolved for her... I assume she’s already tried the customer service route? Does she get any promo/celebration email during her birthday month?
Thanks for the reminder on Nordstrom...I need to go refamiliarize myself with their program...I seem to remember an email about points expiring soon, and I think I'm close to a note 😮 need to look into that asap!
Sept 2018, she stopped receiving emails altogether, for no apparent reason. I think she contacted them once, but never made it a priority to follow up, and it didn't get fixed. She also tried to unsubscribe/resubscribe (nope) and tried changing her email address (also nope). Then randomly in mid July, the emails started back up. But her account is a bit screwy there...promo emails go to her old email address, the one she removed from her account, but order confirmations and updates go to the new address.
Now that emails have started back up, she did get her bday q this year, and she gets the Diamond perk each month. But 20% and other assorted targeted offers (including most multipliers)...nope, still nothing on that front for her. It's just baffling.
Argh! This code has been used, but the person didn't leave a comment.
Here's a little bag analysis on the recent velvet bag gwps 😁
I think the Robes and Throws should be fine and not moldy.
Maybe they fixed the issue right away? MY throw was wrapped in plastic and had a dessicant in it. I smelled and inspected it , so I think there is no mold.. Also, the throw is really soft and warmed me up right away. So cozy!
Got a new code this morning! The "For You" code is the same as the one previously emailed out, but the Bestie code is new 🙂
And today's other Perk:
The gift card deal is also back, if anyone missed it.
