Ulta points refresher (because yes, it is that complicated):

Please add product id numbers and sku numbers so people can find items on ulta.  

Just to clarify, there is an item number that Ulta lists on the website, right under the picture of the item.

The product id is the number given to the item in the URL.  So Ulta's site follows this formula of having the url and then the very last part of the url is "productId=xlsImpprod" followed by an 8 digit number.  If you use that "productId" number you can get to the page of any item on ulta. 

It's not a search, but the direct url to the page. 

Click on any product, and then view the url in the address bar.  It will look like this: ulta's website (not using the actual domain because BT admins don't like that) /prep-prime-fix?productId=xlsImpprod15921204  Replace the 8 digit product id of the item you want to see with the id of the product you're looking for.

My very unofficial Ulta point multiplier to approximate percent discount chart:

(This is a number where I use the multiplier to divide by 2000 to see how many dollars I would have to spend in order to redeem a $125 reward.  E.g. 2000 points divided by 1 point multiplier means I have to spend $2000 to get the $125 reward.  Adding how much I had to spend ($2000) + the reward ($125), and then using the reward ($125) to divide the total purchase ($2125), I get a discount of approximately 6% based on the total purchase.  Note: the total purchase is based on the concept that you are spending just enough to reach the next $125 reward and combines the reward value with how much money you had to spend to get that reward.

Looks like Ulta is testing a new Store Pickup option now.  Doesn't look like you can mix and match with online only or items not available at your local store in a single order.  Not so good for all the BB and GWP bags at this time but good option for when you have a last minute coupon or multiplier order that is under the free shipping threshold.  Didn't see this option there when I placed my order a few days ago.

I’m a diamond. Is it smarter to buy 2 Estée Lauder foundations $86now and get $15 off plus 7X points OR

wait until 10X day when  EsteeLauder has been 10x in the past and hopefully will be again!

Scenario 1: $86 x (1.5 (diamond points) + 6 (multiplier for diamond - base)) - $15 = $71 * 7.5 = 532.5 points will round down to 532 points for $71 spent and $86 worth of merch.

Scenario 2: $86 x (1.5 + 9) = $86 * 10.5 = 903 points for $86 spent and $86 worth of merch.

Which is the better deal?  Well 10.5x points is always better than 7.5x points.  7.5x points is like 32% off your total order.  10.5x points is like 40% off.

If you want to factor the $15 coupon into your total value calculation, it's like you're spending $267 to get 2000 points, and then getting $407 worth of merch (factoring in the $125 coupon as part of your total value of merch).  If you spend $267 and get $407 worth of merch, it's like you're getting 35% off.  (267/407 = .65)  

So even with the $15 off coupon the 10.5x deal is still better because you would spend $190 to get $320 worth of merch which is like 40% off.  The 10.5x deal is also better because you wouldn't need to spend $75+, so if you only want/need one foundation, that's way better than buying one for use and one for back up.

Today: spend $71, get 532 points (at 2000/$125, points are worth $33)

10x day: spend $86, get 903 points (at 2000/$125, points are worth $56)

But really, the math is kinda moot because 10x is a better return than 7x, always always always. But the better deal...well that varies by person 😋 Other factors to consider:

-how quickly do you need/want it? If not in a hurry, hold out.

-there may or may not be a coupon on 10x day; budget can make a difference, so if a lower outlay of cash is a priority, go with today.

-10x day isn't a for sure thing. I know the EL foundation is usually included...but who's to say Ulta won't swap it up this year? If not getting 10x in August is going to put you in a bind and potentially force you buy with NO deal, hedging your bet and buying today might be the better option.

Lol 😂 You have both saved me a lot of time, aggravation and money!🤗. I have several of the foundations  and my wallet could use a break after so many deals this month. I’ll just wait and see if it goes 10x.  If it doesn’t there’s always  a 20% off code at Ulta or dept. store deals with  gwps. Thanks ladies ! You are the best! ❤️

@Imightneedthis I feel you.  I just moved so I started putting all my make up stuff together in one room....  It almost makes me sick how much stuff I have.  I feel like I've Marie Kondo'ed my makeup stash.  Seeing it all in one place makes me realize just how much I don't need.  My makeup collection is less overwhelming when there's a few things stashed here and there.  I always joke that if you hold me upside down and shake me make up would come out of my pockets.  LOL

Ha ha ! Agreed!  We moved in January to a smaller place and I tried to Marie Kondo my stuff too.I gave a lot of unopened makeup to a women’s shelter . It helped me part with it happily. I still save stuff for them from gwps I can’t use. Now, I’m trying to limit myself to buying basics but, the problem is ......I have a long list of basics! Lol 😂

I was playing around with my basket just now and a random pop up box appeared (which was weird and never happened before and I was wondering at first if I had a virus or something) saying I qualified for $15 off $75. When I clicked it the discount was applied and I placed the order. I didn't notice any code, but this sounds like maybe the same thing.

I received my Diamond Welcome Gift yesterday! Inside the shiny purple envelope was a booklet giving the run down of all the Diamond benefits and the coupons for the Diamond Gift and the Beauty Services.

I use the Ulta Brow and Skin Bars, so I'm always excited about the $25 Service Gift Card, but I'm not too excited with the choices for the Diamond Gift. I will probably choose the mascara.

Those aren't the most exciting options for a Diamond gift, @sephoraaddict918, but I'm interested to see that they're now offering a choice of product. I feel like Ulta has really struggled to work out the whole Diamond gift thing since the inception of the new tier.
