Let's keep this thread on topic!

Ulta points refresher (because yes, it is that complicated):

Spoiler

Item #1 - $53.50

Item #3 - $108.50 (and is eligible for a certain item/brand 5x multiplier)

* There is also a 5x all purchase multiplier and you are platinum so you get 1.25x

Total Spent - $162

Base Points Earned - 162

Platinum .25x Earned - 41 (162 * .25 = 40.5, and rounding up)

5x All Purchases Earned - 648 (it ends up being 4x because you don't count the base points)

5x Item/Brand Earned - 434

Total Points Earned - 1285

Spoiler

Please add product id numbers and sku numbers so people can find items on ulta.

Just to clarify, there is an item number that Ulta lists on the website, right under the picture of the item.

The product id is the number given to the item in the URL.  So Ulta's site follows this formula of having the url and then the very last part of the url is "productId=xlsImpprod" followed by an 8 digit number.  If you use that "productId" number you can get to the page of any item on ulta.

It's not a search, but the direct url to the page.

Click on any product, and then view the url in the address bar.  It will look like this: ulta's website (not using the actual domain because BT admins don't like that) /prep-prime-fix?productId=xlsImpprod15921204  Replace the 8 digit product id of the item you want to see with the id of the product you're looking for.

My very unofficial Ulta point multiplier to approximate percent discount chart:

(This is a number where I use the multiplier to divide by 2000 to see how many dollars I would have to spend in order to redeem a $125 reward.  E.g. 2000 points divided by 1 point multiplier means I have to spend $2000 to get the $125 reward.  Adding how much I had to spend ($2000) + the reward ($125), and then using the reward ($125) to divide the total purchase ($2125), I get a discount of approximately 6% based on the total purchase.  Note: the total purchase is based on the concept that you are spending just enough to reach the next $125 reward and combines the reward value with how much money you had to spend to get that reward.

Re: Ulta GWPs

@sarahshter  I know what you're talking about.  But you should have received your points back.  If I return something online I get my points back, or at least I used to unless they've changed their policies.

I had returned something from an order partially paid for...

I had returned something from an order partially paid for with points and the return value was almost nothing. I have to agree, wish they would have let me know before completing the return, I would have gifted or donated the unopened set instead. Best advice I can give is to save your points for items you know you won't need to return, or can even exchange for another shade in the same product.

Re: I had returned something from an order partially paid for...

Over the past year, I've wanted to return a few things that I've bought with points.

But I always decided against it. Ulta does not have a defined and consistent policy about points in regards to returns. I've talked to more than a few CS supervisors and  their responses always differ. That's an issue. No, it's a dumpster fire!! That a major retailer cannot inform a customer of what their refund will be until after the return.

The day we had the big glitch, the Beauty Blitz Deal was the Becca Lava Gold Highlighter and Volcano Goddess palette for 50% off. I ordered those items and Jaclyn Hill's Morphe brushes, but got a cancellation email. So the next day, I placed another order which included those two products and used 2000 points. Only for the glitch order to actually go through. I called CS twice and explained the situation, which they couldn't resolve. Of course..... So rather than return a $38 highlighter and get back in points what could've been the dollar value of a Happy Meal, I just kept it all. Lesson learned.

Re: Ulta GWPs

@sarahshter I'm guessing that you returned in store. I recently returned two lip products which didn't suite my skin tone. I purchased these with points, when they rang the items, it showed that I would receive $6 back and the associate couldn't tell me how many points I would get and told me to try to mail it back instead. I didn't want to deal with the hassle of returning it via mail and said to just go for it and return it. Upon receiving my receipt it showed a slightly worst redemption value returned, but the majority of my points were recovered. Did you happen to get the receipt from the register? that would help your case immensely

RE: Re: Ulta GWPs

Thank you so much for all your help, thankfully I got the receipt so I am going to email it to Ulta this morning and see what they say. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Ulta GWPs

I did a calculation on the product values in one of the Ulta skincare sets. Assuming you would use all of the samples, it's about a 70% savings at the $30 sale in price.

Ulta GWPs

new multiplier... pretty sweet if you were eyeing the plat perk deal on serum next Monday ๐Ÿ˜‰

I dont see that multiplier for my account :(

I wonder if it would make any difference if you put items...

I wonder if it would make any difference if you put items from those multiplier brands in your favorites? I see a lot more multipliers I like now, but not sure if that had something to do with it. I also spend waaaaay too much $$$$$, so maybe it's simply what @NatureGirlSD wrote.

Re: I wonder if it would make any difference if you put items...

@alexalicious I think that's worked for some, but doesn't seem to work for me ๐Ÿ˜ž

Re: I dont see that multiplier for my account :(

@ChanChanMakeupI didn't get it either, though I recently bought an It Cosmetics blush and the lip treatment. They're targeted multipliers seemingly meant to get those of us who buy certain brands to try to justify buying more of them (usually) at full price or even new brands we haven't purchased yet. Just keep an eye out when you log in  to see if you can any new ones to activate. (They're added at midnight Central and often worth checking in case they're stackable or only available for a short time.)

 That's a really nice haul @alexalicious!

Re: Ulta GWPs

@snoflakefaerie

I hear ya! I didn't really care much about the $70 bag, but since I went for the $50 one, I figured I may as well get both. Need the freebies!  ๐Ÿ˜›

Re: Ulta GWPs

@RGbrown Iโ€™m sure they planned it that way! Iโ€™m mostly just bummed because the one thing I really wanted/needed to get counted toward the $50 bag, but not the $70 one. I donโ€™t really understand why, but whatever. At least I remembered to use ebates and the $20 extra gift card from buying the $100 one before Christmas!
