Let's keep this thread on topic!
Ulta points refresher (because yes, it is that complicated):
Item #1 - $53.50
Item #3 - $108.50 (and is eligible for a certain item/brand 5x multiplier)
* There is also a 5x all purchase multiplier and you are platinum so you get 1.25x
Total Spent - $162
Base Points Earned - 162
Platinum .25x Earned - 41 (162 * .25 = 40.5, and rounding up)
5x All Purchases Earned - 648 (it ends up being 4x because you don't count the base points)
5x Item/Brand Earned - 434
Total Points Earned - 1285
Links are not allowed. In lieu of links, please read this:
Please add product id numbers and sku numbers so people can find items on ulta.
Just to clarify, there is an item number that Ulta lists on the website, right under the picture of the item.
The product id is the number given to the item in the URL. So Ulta's site follows this formula of having the url and then the very last part of the url is "productId=xlsImpprod" followed by an 8 digit number. If you use that "productId" number you can get to the page of any item on ulta.
It's not a search, but the direct url to the page.
Click on any product, and then view the url in the address bar. It will look like this: ulta's website (not using the actual domain because BT admins don't like that) /prep-prime-fix?productId=xlsImpprod15921204 Replace the 8 digit product id of the item you want to see with the id of the product you're looking for.
My very unofficial Ulta point multiplier to approximate percent discount chart:
(This is a number where I use the multiplier to divide by 2000 to see how many dollars I would have to spend in order to redeem a $125 reward. E.g. 2000 points divided by 1 point multiplier means I have to spend $2000 to get the $125 reward. Adding how much I had to spend ($2000) + the reward ($125), and then using the reward ($125) to divide the total purchase ($2125), I get a discount of approximately 6% based on the total purchase. Note: the total purchase is based on the concept that you are spending just enough to reach the next $125 reward and combines the reward value with how much money you had to spend to get that reward.
Multiplier | 1 | 1.25 | 1.5 | 2 | 2.25 | 2.5 | 3 | 3.25 | 3.5 | 4 | 4.25 | 4.5 | 5 | 7.25 | 7.5 | 8 | 8.25 | 8.5 | 9 | 9.25 | 9.5 | 10 | 10.25 | 10.5 |

@itscarin I can relate (probably a lot of us can.) I went through my boxes of samples and products and condensed them into one large box. And somehow I had a bottle of Alterna Caviar shampoo go bad on me! It smelled off and was chunky when I went to use it for the first time. So, no more hoarding shampoo for me.
I certainly can relate! My baby's room is also my Ulta room, as my husband calls out... boxes of gifts, unopened samps.. I've been trying to use up my oldest stuf b/c I did have stuff go bad on me too.. grr. And still wracking my brain, trying to find stuff I "need" so I can justify a purchase and get a nice BB... hehehe. Never had this problem with Sephora. Ulta is just too good at tempting us with gifts on top of gifts!
@Ispend2much6 The fact that I can sit here and say that's never happened to me tells me that it's happened to me and I just don't know it! LOL. I have used shampoo that I've purchased over two years ago. I've never noticed anything funky, but then I don't think I'm the most observant person.
You wouldn't have missed this; it was like spoiled milk. lol
New coach gift is up. I’m debating on waiting to see if I can get the Becca gift too. This one is good for a few days assuming it’ll stay in stock that long.
I think my email said 2 days only. I'm considering pulling the trigger on a order for Ulta and NYX stuff to get the bonus points, free palettes and this gift in case it runs out. And then making another order tomorrow for the Becca stuff. 😮
@magda124 Me too! I’m assuming the Becca is a $50 or so buy in? I hope its tomorrows Beauty Break.
I didn’t get the NYX bonus points offer. But that free palette will make a nice Christmas gift
I think you had posted that the Coach gift was OOS? I checked for my little cousin and it was available again. 🙂 I made an order earlier today and got the Coach gift, NYX palette and Ulta palette. The Becca buy-in is $60 and I really hope it's up tomorrow!!!
Silly question for the Ebates mavens out there. So, Ebates is at 3%, my total pre-coupon was $180.47, post coupon $144.38, actually paid $19.38 pre-tax because I used my points. I had the Devacurl and Tarte GWPs needing a $50 and $25 purchase, respectively. How the heck did Ebates calculate my cash back at $3.16? Even it shows $144.38 as my purchase amount. Has this ever happened to anyone before? Will it end up correcting itself?
@snoflakefaerie $3.16 is about a $105.40 total. Cashback is also pre-tax. The $180 and $144 are pre-tax? You mentioned pre/post coupon, just making sure 🙂
This time my Ulta calculated on the subtotal after the 20%, I did get the full 3%, didn't use points.
So you used your 20% and still got cash back? (granted, it's lower than was expected, but still...)
The last round of 20% q's, neither me nor my sis got any cashback at all; I tried mr rebates and she tried ebates. T&C of both sites state that if you use a coupon not found on their site, cashback is invalidated....granted, they've never actually enforced that before, but it seems Ulta is catching on lately and is now correcting the reporting to both sites.
I'm sorry you didn't get the full 3% (and in times long past, it would have been 3% of your $180 total)...but I'm a little surprised you got any at all, frankly, and I certainly would not advise asking ebates about it...if they investigate and see the coupon, they will likely void the whole thing 😞
Haha yeah, I definitely am not going to ask them about it @RGbrown. I'm just VERY confused on how their math worked. So strange.
@sonnydee Do they give you cash back if you used a gift card to pay for part (or all) of the purchase?
I used a $100 gf the other day on part of an order and they gave me cash back on the full amount, so yeah, they seemingly treat giftcards like real money.
Yes, they pay out on transactions where you use a gift card for payment.
Thanks for the info @RGbrown! I'm new to ebates 🙂
