Let's keep this thread on topic!
Ulta points refresher (because yes, it is that complicated):
Item #1 - $53.50
Item #3 - $108.50 (and is eligible for a certain item/brand 5x multiplier)
* There is also a 5x all purchase multiplier and you are platinum so you get 1.25x
Total Spent - $162
Base Points Earned - 162
Platinum .25x Earned - 41 (162 * .25 = 40.5, and rounding up)
5x All Purchases Earned - 648 (it ends up being 4x because you don't count the base points)
5x Item/Brand Earned - 434
Total Points Earned - 1285
Links are not allowed. In lieu of links, please read this:
Please add product id numbers and sku numbers so people can find items on ulta.
Just to clarify, there is an item number that Ulta lists on the website, right under the picture of the item.
The product id is the number given to the item in the URL. So Ulta's site follows this formula of having the url and then the very last part of the url is "productId=xlsImpprod" followed by an 8 digit number. If you use that "productId" number you can get to the page of any item on ulta.
It's not a search, but the direct url to the page.
Click on any product, and then view the url in the address bar. It will look like this: ulta's website (not using the actual domain because BT admins don't like that) /prep-prime-fix?productId=xlsImpprod15921204 Replace the 8 digit product id of the item you want to see with the id of the product you're looking for.
My very unofficial Ulta point multiplier to approximate percent discount chart:
(This is a number where I use the multiplier to divide by 2000 to see how many dollars I would have to spend in order to redeem a $125 reward. E.g. 2000 points divided by 1 point multiplier means I have to spend $2000 to get the $125 reward. Adding how much I had to spend ($2000) + the reward ($125), and then using the reward ($125) to divide the total purchase ($2125), I get a discount of approximately 6% based on the total purchase. Note: the total purchase is based on the concept that you are spending just enough to reach the next $125 reward and combines the reward value with how much money you had to spend to get that reward.
Multiplier | 1 | 1.25 | 1.5 | 2 | 2.25 | 2.5 | 3 | 3.25 | 3.5 | 4 | 4.25 | 4.5 | 5 | 7.25 | 7.5 | 8 | 8.25 | 8.5 | 9 | 9.25 | 9.5 | 10 | 10.25 | 10.5 |

Ulta has really been stepping up their game. I'm happy to see all the new brands they have available now. I love their rewards program. I would much prefer to get cash back.
Sweet! I think Ulta first started doing this in late 2015 or early 2016. I got the UD vice lipstick pod sent to me. Other people have had more substantial gifts. I think we all got a kick out of it because Sephora had initially promised rouge members would receive special free gifts annually, but we never did. So Ulta aka Mr. Steal-yo-girl swooped in and started sending things to platinum members. It's a nice touch. You always want to be under-promising and over-delivering.
LOL @itscarin kudos to Ulta! Ever since I saw these gifts (and other awesome perks) I'm debating on becoming committed to Ulta.
I've already re-qualifiers for Platinum (through 2018) but have purchased 0 from Sephora. I even passed the 20% off, I may not even make it to VIB
Several folks have reported getting a thank you gift from ulta lately, ifn you wanna scroll down/back a bit to see some pics and stories. Ulta is definitely putting their best foot forward; they are bringing it in regards to rewards! Congrats on your gift!!
Check your offers, I got a 5x NARS today and the 3x platinum is good until 6/17 (2x non-platinum). I also recently got a 5x Dermalogica and ABH.
Thanks for sharing. 🙂 I may place an order today but I placed a few small orders yesterday with the no min shipping code that was shared. I'm also trying to hold out for the next platinum gwp bag. 🙂
@CaityLaine I'm trying to hold out for a bag, too, so I didn't end up placing an order. I don't need anything right now anyway! 🙂
I recently had a big CS issue with Ulta that stemmed from a post office error, which, although it took awhile, was more than satisfactorily resolved. I had all but written off Ulta since this occurred in April (I seriously spent a LOT from Jan-Apr then $0 since this happened). After speaking with a very professional and understanding supervisor at Ulta, I fully intend to remain an Ulta shopper, but am now waiting for some better promotions too. A Platinum Bag would def bring me back in without hesitation even though I literally do not need a single thing right now.
The threshold for free shipping has dropped to $35.
I haven't tested it personally, but read the free shipping coupon below isn't working anymore 😞
@RGbrown. You are so on top of things, I love it! 🙂 lol thanks for sharing
Has anyone ever had trouble using the $5 off a $15 Ulta Collection purchase coupons, that you get in the Beauty Bags? I have two & neither are working for me online, & they're not expired 😞
I logged in after reading your question because I have had the exact same problem several times. Every time I get one of those 5 off 15 Ulta beauty purchase I am never able to use it online because it says it's expired as well. The SA at my Ulta know me pretty well and they let me redeem them in store (they to over ride them or something somehow) because it pops up in their system in store that it's expired too. Maybe it's a bad batch that got printed or something? It has happened to me several times. As annoying as it is I don't even try to use them online anymore. 😞
@CaityLaine Ohh thanks for the info, that's annoying that you have never been able to use them online 😞 Hopefully the SAs will do that for me, too, since they haven't really expired.
I tried to google this & I couldn't find anything, but you'd think other people would have the same issue.
@RGbrown @CaityLaine I stopped in today to try to figure out the coupon situation, but I couldn't use it, unfortunately 😞
That sucks, I'm so sorry!
I might have blown my top over that last bit though. "Put your stuff back so I don't have to be bothered"? Nope nope nope! Whether I had intended to or not (and if I was planning on circling back with more stuff like you were, putting the first items back would be something I would do anyways) is beside the point...that type of comment completely uncalled for.
@RGbrown Thank you for your help, I just wanted to follow up for you & anyone else who is having issues with these darn coupons!
Ok so it's not just me! After I posted that, I thought, "Well maybe I am overreacting." But you also feel the same way, so I feel better. I've never worked retail & I try to put myself in their shoes, but I just wouldn't say that to a customer.
And I'm not someone who gets embarrassed often, but I can see how that would be mortifying for someone who does, with people watching & waiting behind them in line 😞
I have worked retail before; if I had been behind the counter, I would have cheerfully taken whatever you brought up and put it with whatever other stuff we had to go back out on the floor. If you had reached for it, I would have said "oh you don't have to, we'll get it back out"; if you insisted, I'd let you, but I'd never in a million years ask a customer to do that. Of course, if it had been me behind the counter, I would have given you the $5 off in the first place because the coupon is clearly valid, but I guess that's a whole different can of worms lol.
what a bummer. I hate the way that CS can vary from SA, store, or even online / over the phone reps.
my very first experience with those type of coupons I tried over and over to use online with tons of different Ulta beauty collection items. Nothing would work / kept saying expired. I then took coupon in to the store and explained that I couldn't get it to work online / didn't know what I was doing wrong to the checkout associate. She looked at coupon / my items and it kept saying expired for her too although the expiration date on the front was clearly in date. She put it in for me anyways (no manager called / she wasn't a manager) and she did it before I even asked if she could. I've had a few of those coupons since then and they've all been able to do it for me even though they say expired. I'm just so bummed for you. 😞
sorry to ramble
I would maybe call CS or if you have another (better) Ulta nearby try it there. I know that's an extra frustration though. There are two Ultas close to me and the vast difference in CS between them always makes me go to the better one.
oh, and I know they still are giving those coupons out because my co worker just received one last week. No word on whether hers works or not.
