I'm going to post this here since it has the potential to reach the most people.  I know more than a few of us have wondered (or discovered,) that our credit card into and/or some other private information was obtained illegally.

I just read on Bloomberg's site that Equifax had a cyberattack that may have impacted 143 million customers.  They were able to obtain all the info needed for identity theft, all at once.  Some UK and Canada customers were also affected.  The breach was discovered July 29.

Equifax is supposed to be sending out letters for those accounts potentially impacted, and they have a link that you can use to check online as well.

Apparently, the site they send you to check is just "returning random results," regardless of whether you're actually compromised, so beware of trusting it.
