I know there are a few of us on BT that are fragrance addicts, so I thought it would be nice to have a dedicated place where we can share our thoughts.
This is not to take away from the lovely What Are You Wearing Today, Fragrance Edition thread, but more a place to post longer reviews, chat about new brands or releases, and just shoot the breeze on anything good and smelly 🙂
For me, I recently acquired 2 new decants that I've been anxiously awaiting. Ever since Lachaton mentioned that MMM was releasing a new scent called By The Fireplace I've been itching to get my hands on it. My decant arrived yesterday, so I'm looking forward to marinating in it this weekend. Secondly, I recently picked up a tiny sample of Shiseido Nombre Noir. Supposedly it is one of the most expensive failures in perfume history - made by Serge Lutens for Shiseido back in the 80s. Of course, with a backstory like that, I was dying to get a sniff 😄
What's new on your scent radar? Do tell!
@Mochapj Thanks for the update! I know Toronto will be getting the new ouds but perhaps TF will start going down the Le Labo city exclusives route to justify increasing prices? If memory serves me well, they're both owned by Estée Lauder...
@Annnj That doesn't surprize me - I see that the new Oud Wood Intense and Tobacco Oud Intense are also retailing for $310/50 ml (the original Ouds retail prices are $230/50 ml). I can't imagine they're that much of an improvement...
That name......😂
I like all the notes. Looking forward to testing it.
YSL Black opium or Chanel Coco are a couple of my favorites. There's also one from Atilier Cologne that is supposed to smell like a high rolling sexy casino-going woman or something. Haven't gotten to smell it yet but sh sounds intriguing
@mamabear42 I love to layer Thierry Mugler Alien with Tokyo Milk Tainted Love. I've had a few guys tell me it turned them on LOL.
@Samtian Thanks so much for the suggestion, I have tried Thierry Mugler Alien When I receive it as a sample. That was a good one!
I had a new blind buy work out well for me recently 🙂 I picked up the new Guerlain LPRN Black Perfecto (Monsieur Guerlain's remarks on it won me over).
It really is delightful. I think I'll get a fair amount of wear of this one in the fall. You still have the jammy raspberry/cherry scent (that I find similar to the Couture version - one of the better options) but with more warm leather and almond (especially with the dry-down) and a bit of liquorice. Still a sweet gourmand but without being too cloying as I have found some of the other LPRN versions wear on me.
I adore CHANEL!
am I perfume collector....
this will be ON THE NEW LIST THANK YOU
MERCI!!!
Has anyone tried this yet?
Olivier Polge crafted this Eau de Parfum as an imaginary flower — a radiant and sparkling, purely feminine Chanel blossom based on a bouquet of four white flowers: a rich, enveloping heart of exotic Jasmine shimmers with the fruity green notes of Ylang-Ylang, while fresh and sparkling Orange Blossom shines through, offering a glimpse of Grasse Tuberose captured at its finest. Four points of light that recall the four corners of the bottle.
I went to my local counter today (and walked away with a generous sample) TBH I'm on the fence about this one. Something just doesn't seem to sit well on my skin. It's like I smell a weird mixture of oranges and white floral that I can't pinpoint what it is. I'm going to try again - it's not terrible, but at this point I'm not in love. I did however almost walk out of the store with this purse spray kit for Mme Coco Chanel. It comes with this adorable light pink carrying case (which is the real kicker). I may or may not go back and buy it though. Maybe a good thing to put on a wish list for Christmas since the SA told me it's not LE.
Yes. It is a beautiful new scent.
i bought a bottle last week. I like it! There is something reminiscent of Coco M, but without the patchouli base. I did read that Chanel was looking to attract a younger crown into their fragrance.
@AnneMCC - how's the staying power on this one? Chanel fragrances always have a great all day hold for me even the EDT's.
I just saw this @niki172 I'd say it's comparable to the staying power of Coco M, maybe a touch lighter because it doesn't have the spicy base notes.
It had a lot of longevity on me. One spritz on my wrist lasted all day + shower.
Thanks @pocketvenus! Good to know this one has longevity as well.
