Anyone out there with some love for the Playbox??

I feel like every time I check in with this group, people are so angry about Sephora Play and every comment is about cancelling! And while that is obviously their right, I am always confused and kind of bummed to read all the negativity. I never assume I'm going to love every single thing in my box--that's the whole point of the subscription, imo, to find out what I do AND don't like. If there's one great product in my box, great! I can give the rest away and not feel bad because really, this is not very expensive. And I still get excited to get my box each month and read all about the products and give them a shot. Anyone out there on the same page? Would love to see some non-bummer reviews on here. 🙂

First of all, it’s only $10 - two drinks at Starbucks cost more! Second, I love trying new things- the main reason I signed up was so I could try products I haven’t used before. It’s a great way of figuring out what full size products you want and won’t end up regret buying, because you were able to try it out first. I actually canceled Birchbox for Play! and feel I made a good choice!

I've been getting a Play! box for about six months now, and it is the perfect setup for me, personally. They curate a theme each month that is more than just "here's stuff we think you'll like"... skincare, holiday, hydration, etc. and so while a given month may have more or less makeup/skincare/hair product it seems to be pretty balanced in the longer term.

Some things I've tried and loved, some have been meh, some I've stashed away for later, a few have been no's but other than a couple standard-issue foundation samples I haven't received anything that doesn't match my Sephora profile info.

I haven't received any duplicate items so far. I donate or gift the few items I get that I know won't work for me due to shade, brand preference, etc. I don't feel that I'm getting less than my money's worth because of this, either...

The price point is lower than other subscription boxes, and deluxe samples are what I'm looking for... I don't actually *want* any full-size products included, because I'm pretty selective about what I do choose to buy and put into my regular kit so I don't need a bunch of FS duds cluttering up my collection.

And let's be real... the convenience of getting these shipped to my doorstep, matching my skin type, in a cute set, for a few dollars more than I would pay to park in the garage next to my downtown Sephora on a weeknight? THAT is what I'm paying for. Giving the occasional not-for-me sample to my stepmom or officemate is no problem.

There are valid criticisms of the current setup, especially for high-spend Rouge customers, but overall, people who are complaining about lack of value or how terrible everything is need to cancel their sub and just go ask their mom to drive them to the mall instead.

I love getting my Play box every month. I love trying out different skincare products and trying new fragrances. This is the only box with fragrance. I like the themes and the effort Sephora puts into the program. Looking forward to going to another play date. I am not picky so I use everything I get.

Let's be honest--I don't love every single product in every single box.  I like a LOT of the things in a LOT of the boxes; that being said, I subscribe knowing that there are always going to be both hits and misses and for the $10 price I get to indulge just a little bit every month.  There's "risk" associated with every subscription and as others have stated, even if I don't personally use all of the products I can typically find someone else who will enjoy them.  For the most part I like Sephora Play! and I don't see myself cancelling anytime soon :).

I love my play boxes and look forward to them every month! If I have an item that I can't use then I'll either give it to a friend or donate them to the homeless shelter. I'm so tired of everyone complaining every month! People it's $10! You pay more than that for travel items, at least this way your getting to try out some awesome products without spending a fortune! Give Sephora a break, they're doing the best the can!

I have received three boxes so far and have loved every single one. it's just a fun way to "treat yourself" every month. I have enjoyed trying new products without the commitment of the full size. I am a fan!!

I've been having really good luck the past few months! I've only had it since April, and at first it was new and fun. But now I feel like they are getting "me" right so, for the most part, I'm getting stuff that is right for my skin and that I'll use. The past few months have been especially good. I still haven't received January, but my box (093) was my favorite of the variations. I really like the fragrances, love anything moisturizing, and really wanted the Nars/Becca combo, so I'm excited.

I love my boxes! I've been getting them forever now and I'm always excited! Although, I really do have so many black eye liners and primers, lol. At least I always have a fun gift for my girlfriends when We get together. 🙂

I like it because I get to try new things. There are plenty of products that I've wound up buying the full size item of - like the Caudalie Vinosource and a tarte matte lipgloss that that I got in several different shades because I liked it so much. 

The only thing I really wish they would do is allow us to use our play passes online. There is a code on them so I don't see why this would be so hard to implement. I can't always make it over to Sephora every month so it seems a shame those extra points go to waste.

I agree! I don’t really understand why that’s not a thing yet—they’d probably make more money if people could use those online.

My theory is that, online you can get deluxe samples with the codes they email you plus the 3 regular samples. But what would be the incentive to go into a store (where something you weren't planning to buy catches your eye or where an associate can talk you into buying something) if you can use your points online and get ANOTHER deluxe sample in just about 2 purchases?

I have enjoyed almost all of the boxes I’ve gotten for the most part!
