Best combo of products to fight large clogged pores?

What is the best combo of products to fight oily skin plagued by large clogged pores and uneven skin tone? I would need to moisturize, mattify, reduce oil, prime for makeup, and refine my pores, all while getting decent sun protection and improving skin tone. I need a couple multi-taskers by the looks of it! I'm especially looking into Dr. Brandt Pore no More, Philosophy Help me/ On a clear Day, Murad Oil-Control Mattifyer... I think a good retinol product would help too.

Im 24, very oily and shiny  light coloured skin, normally resistant to exfoliation but sensitive to certain chemicals. I get deep cysts/nodules and blackheads but I rarely get pimples anymore. I have a couple acne scars, and overall very uneven tone with lots of pink spots leftover from past acne cysts on my cheeks.

I currently use:

DDF acne pumice scrub 2.5% BP

Philosophy Purity foaming cleanser
DDF sulfur mask
DDF 10% Glycolic acid toner

And I also started getting Chemical Peels

So how do I get everything I need in the least amount of products, while getting the most effective products with the best ingredients?

I have very oily skin, enlarged pores and uneven skin too. Below is a list of the items that I use and it has helped me.I will post the links for you.

First get your self a Clarsonic cleaner http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P245414&categoryId=C19920 this was the best investment!

I then use the clarsonic with the Boscia Purifying Cleansing Gel http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P61204&categoryId=C16701. One morning I forgot to put the Boscia cleaner in the shower and used a Philosophy cleanser I already had in the shower. There was such a BIG difference in the way my skin felt! I ended up rewashing my face with the Boscia just to get rid of the feel of the Philosophy cleanser.

Next I use Pore Minimizer by Perricone MD http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P259938&categoryId=C10321

I then follow with the Boscia Oil-free Daily Hydration http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P61207&categoryId=C16701

For sun protection I just started using Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P173670&shouldPaginate=true&categoryId=5337

I am currently trying a sample of NARS Pro-Prime Pore refining primer - oil free

http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P281401&categoryId=C10476

Last week I used the above items when I was in west Texas the temps. were in the low 90's but the air is very dry. My skin was great, not even oily!

This week I will go to Shreveport, LA where I am told the air is very humid ( I have never been there before). I am curious to see how these items will work for me there.

Good Luck finding the right combination of products!

Hi, cherry23!  I, too, get the big nodule-type acne you get, which is actually called cystic acne.  The only thing that will help cystic acne is to go to a dermatologist and get a prescription medication since cystic acne is different than other forms of acne.  I got a topical antibiotic medication from my dermaologist that works great for me, so I'd really recommend going to a derm to find out a regimen that'll work for you.

However, enlarged pores are another story.  There are some great products at Sephora that can disguise and others that can actually shrink enlarged pores.  A very good foundation primer to disguise enlarged pores is NARS Skin Smoothing Face Prep which is designed to minimize the appearance of fine lines and pores with just one application.  You can find it at:  http://sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml;jsessionid=PQGX0KPNMULQCCV0KSGAX0Q?id=P261210&categoryId=B70

Another makeup product to help disguise enlarged pores is Too Faced Amazing Face Oil-Free Close-Up Coverage Foundation which is a very lightweight foundation that visibly reduces the appearance of pores and fine lines by diffusing and reflecting light.  It is skin-smoothing and gives the illusion of airbrushed skin.  You can read all about it at:  http://sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml;jsessionid=PIYRWKFATILUACV0KSGAX0Q?id=P277303&categoryId=B70

To help reduce the size of your pores (and not just disguise them) I would recommend Perricone MD Intensive Pore Minimizer which is designed to address enlarged pores caused by active oil glands, dirt, wax, or chronological aging.  You can find it at:  http://sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P259938&categoryId=B70

I hope this helps you.  🙂

One product that I've been liking, is Ren's Glycolactic Peel Mask. It evens out your skintone, reduces scarring, smooths the skin, and exfoliates without scrubbing. It uses lactic and glycolic acids to shed dead skin, which helps keep it clear.

For a moisturizer, I like Philosophy's Hope Oil-free SPF 30, it's not heavy, absorbs quickly and protect my skin, which is super important if you're using retinol products. A cheaper alternative I like is Neutrogena's Oil-free SPFs, they are slightly heavier but haven't broken me out.

Also, if you're still getting cystic acne, you could try Mario Badescu's Buffering lotion and there Drying Cream. These reduce pimples quickly. Hope this helps
