Show Me Your Nails 2.0

Due to some technical glitches with the original Show Me Your Nails Thread, I am starting a new thread with @vegchililover78's blessing (She says "hello," by the way!).

Please share your nail looks, nail art and manicures!

Re: Show Me Your Nails 2.0

@CynthieLu Thank you! I have been inspired to use up the nail polishes in my collection! 💜

Re: Show Me Your Nails 2.0

I pulled out BKL's "The Harp" to wear for a few days.  I don't wear it often enough.

Re: Show Me Your Nails 2.0

Stunning mani! These colors are gorgeous ❤️ @CookieGirl1

Re: Show Me Your Nails 2.0

The shift on the polish is lovely @CookieGirl1. Is there a polish in your collection that you find yourself reaching a lot?

Re: Show Me Your Nails 2.0

@itsfi it's a fun one to wear.  And no, I definitely rotate through my polishes but lately I've been on a pink polish kick and I'm finally back to using some of my more "Fall"-ish colors..

Re: Show Me Your Nails 2.0

Gorgeous color, @CookieGirl1 ! 💙💙💙  It looks lovely on you! 😍

Re: Show Me Your Nails 2.0

@Titian06 thank you!

Re: Show Me Your Nails 2.0

Yup! 💯 Agree. That is so magical @CookieGirl1 🤩 what a beautiful polish! That's one where you definitely just must admire it from time to time on your fingers.

Re: Show Me Your Nails 2.0

@CookieGirl1 This is such a magical shade 🩵💙🩵

Re: Show Me Your Nails 2.0

@Mellmars1185 It's probably one of my most multidimensional polishes 💙.

Re: Show Me Your Nails 2.0

With the exception of 2021, I've done some form of googly eye mani for spooky season every year. This year's version was inspired by IG: aliciatnails, as I first saw her mani on the blog, Bored Panda.

Products / Tools Used:
💅  File nails - I went with an oval shape - my nails are not always long enough to file it to this shape but I aim for it when I can.  I find this particular makes my fingers and nails look longer.
💅  Soak nails in lukewarm water with a little olive oil and Dr. Teal's Epsom salts
💅  Push back & trim cuticles
💅  Apply base coat & let dry - this time I went with Deborah Lippmann Rock Hard Base and Top Coat - seems like Sephora is phasing out its Deborah Lippmann collection and traditional nail polish in general
💅  Apply base color & let dry. Repeat for a second coat. - Here, I used Gucci Nail Polish 700 Crystal - this shade is not showing as available at Sephora anymore. Hmmm... 🤔
💅  Dab some white nail polish onto foil, top of Gucci nail polish top, or or a surface that the remaining polish can be easily removed with nail polish remover (I wear gloves to remove the polish afterwards, so as to not ruin my mani). I'm using OPI Alpine Snow here.
💅  Dip dotting tool into white polish, place 2 dots on nails & let dry - here I chose to do the googly eyes on my index, middle and ring fingernails. If you don't have a dotting tool, a toothpick works just fine. As does the tip of a pencil or pen.
💅  [Optional]: Apply another dot of the white polish to the black polish, directly on top of the white dot you already made - this is an optional step, not needed if your first coat of white polish gives an opaque finish.
💅  Dab some black polish onto foil, top of white polish top, or a surface that the remaining polish can be easily removed with nail polish remover.
💅  Using either a smaller dotting tool, place 2 dots in the lower part of the white dot & let dry. If you don't have a smaller dotting tool, make smaller dots with the same tool used to make the white dots. [Optional: Repeat for a second time on top of the first coat of the black polish.]
💅  Apply top coat. Repeat.

If I remember, I try to apply another coat or two of Top Coat every 2 days to extend the wear of this mani.

Re: Show Me Your Nails 2.0

@itsfi  you never fail to suprise me these are excellent so cool and super cute, love them ❤️

Re: Show Me Your Nails 2.0

Awww, thank you @peculiarzmakeup! These are lots of fun (and pretty easy to do once I got more comfortable using a dotting tool) - so many variations you can do with these googly eyes and it's a treat thinking about how to do a different design or looking on the internet for inspiration.

Re: Show Me Your Nails 2.0

Omg, those are adorable! @itsfi

Re: Show Me Your Nails 2.0

@CorgiMommy, thank you. These are always a fun way to kick off Halloween.

Re: Show Me Your Nails 2.0

OMGosh, @itsfi , your mani is fabulous! 👀👻  Thank you for providing the steps on how you achieved the look. 💞

When I saw the pic in my email notice, I thought the white was the shine from the polish! 😄

Re: Show Me Your Nails 2.0

@Titian06, thank you. You should give it a try, even if you just do the design on one nail.

Re: Show Me Your Nails 2.0

Squuueeee these are adorable!! @itsfi the step by steps were really cool of you to include too!

Re: Show Me Your Nails 2.0

I typically do some variation of these googly eyes and flowers every year, to kick start the holiday season and spring, respectively. This is one I always look forward to. It's one of those nail art designs that would look cute even if you just decided to do it on one nail.

Re: Show Me Your Nails 2.0

@itsfiThis is such a cute and festive mani! Thank you for letting us know all of the steps! I really like the shape of your nails 🖤🖤👻

Re: Show Me Your Nails 2.0

@Mellmars1185, I never know when spooky season technically starts, but this is the mani that kick starts the fall & holiday season for me. I think going forward I may look at it starting after SEPHORiA. 😆 You should give these googly eyes a try, if you have time.

Awww, thank you. I tried to file my nails into an oval shape. I had juuuust enough of a free edge on each of my nails to do it. I'd like them to grow a little longer but I'm not holding my breath; this is generally the length I can get all of them to, before they start having a mind of their own - some want to stay short, others will grow longer. hahaha! Reminds me, I need to give them some TLC and apply cuticile oil to them. 💅
