Welcome to the Monthly Manicure Challenge! Thereโs a lot of great manicure ideas and inspiration here on BIC. I find challenges are a great way to channel that inspiration, push me out of my comfort zone, and try new styles or colours I wouldnโt normally go for. Itโs a great way to grow in skill and artistry. I hope youโll join me on this journey.
All are welcome, whether youโre a pro or a novice like me, or if you have a favourite manicurist that is the only one you trust with your hands. Youโre welcome to post as often or as little as you like, post late, or skip challenges completely. And feel free to post them on Show Me Your Nails 2.0 too!
November 2023 - Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice
Weโre deep into fall and winter is fast approaching. Letโs see some fall inspired manicures! They could be pumpkin spice themed, a leaf colour-change inspired skittle, or whatever makes you feel warm and cozy. And happy thanksgiving to all the American BIC members. Feel free to post thanksgiving-inspired maniโs too!

Iโve been a part of BIC for a while now. Iโve seen makeup, skincare, and photography challenges, which have been great for giving me inspiration, but nothing for maniโs. I love Makeup Challenge of the Week 2021/2022/2023 because itโs given me lots of inspiration, pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me grow in my skills and artistry. Iโd probably be stuck doing the same looks if it werenโt for that. I know we have Show Me Your Nails 2.0 which has been a great source of inspiration. I donโt want to take away from it but rather give myself and others a way to narrow down all the great ideas from it and get outside of my comfort zone (which has been bright colours and sparkly toppers lately)
Would there be any interest in starting a challenge for maniโs? We could have a different theme every month or even twice a month so that people can wear their maniโs out without worrying about missing one. People could always revisit themes if they miss them but still want to participate. Iโm happy to organize it and if people have ideas for themes, Iโm happy to work them in. What do you all think? Let me know if we should go one or twice a month and any themes you might want to see.
Tagging some people but feel free to tag others who I missed or who you think might be interested.

I was sent a Sally Hansen polish from Influenster andI have been testing it these past days. It is Xtreme Wear in Concrete Jungle. The application was terrible, going on thick, gummy and uneven. And even doing my nails like I have for the last decades, it generated bubbles on each coat. Bad. But the lasting power is very impressive! I ended up โfixingโ the bubble mess by adding some stamping (surprising, isnโt it? ๐ ) and top coat, which evened out the texture. The pattern is very cute and I would love it if I were a child, (and I felt like one while applying the stamps for sure! ๐), so I found it appropriate for this months challenge.
Pink glitter and star stickers! Iโve been doing a lot of purple lately, which one of my daughters and I share a love for. My other daughter loves pink and kindly asked me to do them pink this time. Itโs a bit hard to see the pink glitter but I swear itโs there! On my ring finger, I still tried to incorporate purple through a lilac polish and a star sticker stolen from my kids collection.
I think it turned out super cute and definitely kid approved! ๐๐ฏ๐
If anyone is wondering, you CAN use actual stickers, assuming they fit your nails. If you want to try, I recommend laying down your polish of choice and letting it dry at least overnight before putting on a sticker. The solvents in the polish eat away the adhesive and they stop wanting to stay on your fingers. Once fully cured, clean the nail with rubbing alcohol and a lint free cloth before applying the sticker and sealing with quick-dry top coat. Iโve only tried this with foil stickers though. Iโll try paper ones next.
I think these totally remind me of childhood for some reason @JoSometimes ?!?!? Polly pockets?!?! It's good to know you can use regular stickers... overnight tho... ๐ซ the patience you have ๐คฃ
@jaaayp I didnโt even think about Polly pocket! One of my daughters came up to me and asked so politely to make them pink and I couldnโt say no. She picked out the pink and the glitter. I keep thinking fairy princess.
