Mascara on eyelids

I recently bought Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez Perfect Strokes Universal Volumizing Mascara Black, and today was the first time I used it. I got a bit of it on my eyelid on my first attempt, and a bit less an my second attempt. I’m used to clear mascara. Is there any tricks to avoid getting mascara on my eyelids, I keep my makeup very subtle, and don’t want it to be obvious.

@CDY1988 @They make lash guards you can find on Amazon. Or let the mascara dry then get a pointed q tip to get off the unwanted mascara on your lid.
