Best eye palette for carry-on travel?

Hey, all!

I'll be backpacking through Europe this summer.

I've done it before, but I'll be gone much longer this time. I have my routine pretty much down, but I'm undecided on which eye palette to take/buy.

Do you have an amazing eye shadow palette that's versatile? I want lots of neutral, daytime looks (I'm fair - so think taupe/brown/pinks/purple), with the ability to mix it up a bit for a few nights out.

Thanks in advance! 😃

How exciting @Anonymous! I like traveling with a small sturdy palette of neutrals and pencils for pops of color. I like the Viseart Petit Pro when I am very low on space. It has neutral cream, taupe and brown plus some fun metallics that are very creamy.

Either of the Urban Decay Naked Basics are great for travel. The original one is on sale right now! I supplement these with shadow pencils and liners in fun colors. Laura Mercier makes some great purples (and Kiko makes some great dupes for less with 30% off right now on purchases over $30). I've heard good things about the Sephora shadow pencils, but I haven't tried them. Not a shadow stick, but a great cool tone pink/purple shadow (blush and lipstick) is Bite Gelato Multistick.  For evening looks, you could bring a liquid shadow like Stila Glitter and Glow. They are beautiful!

Have so much fun planning you packing and traveling! I wish I had a single palette to recommend to you, that would fit all your criteria. But there aren't a great variety of palettes that lean cool neutral, let alone one that is sturdy for travel.

I've been going back and forth on the Petite Pro for a while now. Thanks for the rec. 😃

Thanks for suggesting Stowaway. Just checked them out, love their stuff.

@Anonymous The Narsissist Loaded palette might be nice. The only shade I’ve found to be semi-patchy is the gold. And it has really nice packaging that should keep it well-protected for travel. It’s no longer available on Sephora’s site but the NARS direct site still has it.

The newer NARS palette, the Wanted palette, looks super pretty too, but I haven’t tried that one so I can’t recommend it. Just being annoying and mentioning a palette I’ve never tried! 🤭 Sorry!

Re: Best eye palette for carry-on travel?

For the color scheme you describe, the Laura Mercier Eye Art Artist Palette jumped into my mind because it includes browns as well as pinks/purples and I found that quite hard to find in one palette. The one thing to note is that the shimmers are more satin, so if you like a lot of oomph with your shimmers, it might not be for you. My most used neutral palette is probably Marc Jacobs Glambition, which runs more brown/pink/gold. This is very compact and travel friendly, and you can go soft with it or amp it up with the included black. If you wanted something really travel friendly (i.e. compact) you might look into one of the Viseart Theory Palettes (I often bring Cashmere when I travel) or the Petit Pro. @Anonymous

Awesome! I have both the Tarteist Pro and the Laura Mercier Eye Artist Palette. I guess I was just hoping I'd find something that has both of those color schemes, yet smaller. I'll check out the Viseart one.

Re: Best eye palette for carry-on travel?

I don't know how big you are willing to go for your one palette, but I would look in to the following: Tarte Tarteist Pro, ABH Modern Renaissance or Prism, or maybe Violet Voss Like A Boss Pro, but I've only swatched that one.
